Karaoke Machine for the PSP!
greg | February 1, 2008
Transform that PSP of yours into a portable karaoke machine! Now make a fool of yourself wherever, whenever. Marvin’s PSP Karaoke supports MP3+G playback; that’s 2 files, a .mp3 accompanied by a .cdg.
The background can currently be customized by replacing BG.PNG with your own image.
The player will play songs from the MP3G folder. The songs have to be named m1.mp3, m2.mp3, …mX.mp3 with a corresponding m1.cdg. The ‘1′will be used as the song number.
Alternatively, you can populate an sqlite3 database (kpl.db) which allows you to forgo with the naming convention and store MP3G files in different locations on the memory stick. Note that most MP3G files on the internet don’t have mp3 id tags. The sqlite database has columns for artist names and song titles.
This is a concept beta version with the following features:
- Plays MP3 + CDG Format
- Add songs to queue
- Play Pause
- Sqlite3 songs database
Controls:
- TRIANGLE – Show song number input
- UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT – Input song number
- CROSS – Add song number to the songs queue
- SQUARE – Skip to next song
- CIRCLE – Play / Pause
While the readme says “psp slim & lite”, I’ve confirmed it working on my PSP Phat with 3.90 M33.

rockhead: Read! greg already stated that it will work.
“PSP Phat with 3.90 M33.” im on 3.52 m33-4 and it worked so whooooo lol
Ha
This is loltastic
I’ll probably see my buds singing “It’s raining men!” I’ll be sure to walk in quietly.
Hey how do I get this to work on phat? I’ve tried several times … cant get it to work. Any suggestions?
Unpack the rar file to PSP/GAME380
i put it under just the game folder and works perfectly
Doing it that way depends on which kernel your game folder is running…for stability and ease, the best bet would be to put it under game352, game380, etc… you get the point…and btw, my earlier post wasn’t a flame, so please don’t take it as such…it was more a comment to everyone else than to you specifically rockhead
Thank you, it works now!! You Rock!
…..LMAO to the whole Idea, I might just try it, this is good for just plain hilarious homebrew
could someone test if this works with TV out? – i don’t have a tv ;)
karaoke is fun for parties (here in asia, at least)
lol – if you’re singing in front of your psp by yourself. loltastic. heheh.
google MP3G or CDG, or search for CDG torrents for more music
dude, how would i know what number i should put??
Another Original Homebrew, that was fast….
Where do i save the file???????
i saved the folder, MP3, and it said, “game could not be started”, i saved it under psp: game, what did i do worng?
sorry, do proper documentation yet.
the download included 3 samples. input 1 to 3 to test.
look at the MP3G folder.. you’ll get an idea of how to add music
this isn’t actually original. there was a japanese karaoke game release by sony sometime ago. maybe the japanese will give my homebrew some love :)
i still dont get it!!!!!!, how do i install it!!!!, i have version 3.90, thats it, need help!!!!!!
HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im saving it to game, still, problems
yo mama:
greg confirmed it worked on his 3.90 m33 psp.
- unzip/unrar the downloaded file
- put the mp3 folder under PSP/GAME/
- run the MP3+G
Please help me!!
i did, didnt work, i downloaded my update off of sony.com, and what is unrar??
if you downloaded your update off sony.com then you have official firmware. Homebrew only works on custom firmware.
dang it
oh, and unrar is the process of using winrar to open a rar’ed file. winrar is an archival program. google it. it’s one of the most commonly used file types used in these kinds of fields.
and sorry for double post. missed the second part of the question.
it always said, cant start game.
i have psp slim
how do i download other songs to put it in? i don’t have that .cdg thingy…

HOLLYWOOD HERE I COME
do i need a mic to play this or do i just sing aloud like some douche?
Thanks and it works great on the Slim M33 3.80 as well. Can’t open up this Sqlite db file though. I’m on Ubuntu, so I don’t know if that’s the problems, but I assume any database program should be able to open it including openoffice. It will only open up as a gedit file and the sheet is blank. Do I have to install sqlite? – Mars
This program looks really great, but does anyone know where to download songs for it? I’ve looked on Google, but no luck. Anyone know a good site?
please help us where to download mp3g.. nice concept for a karaoke psp… thanks..
The program works a charm on 3.80 M33-5 (Fat) for me !
