Update: And, for us fat users only, the 1.50 Kernel Add-on…
Dark_AleX with the quickness — custom firmware 3.90 M33 is here! You’ll require Sony’s official 3.90 update; fetch that below or let Dark_AleX’s M33 network updater download it for you.
3.90 M33 changes:
- 3.80 -> 3.90
- March33 NO UMD: fixed (yet another) bug related with exiting with home. (infinite semaphore wait)
M33 Updater changes:
- The degeneration check and correction of IDS keys happens too in 3.71 now.
- Added code to download 3.90 PBP from net via wifi. Note that his code is not yet 100% stable, it may crash when selecting AP. In that case, re-init the installer.
- L+triangle has been restored as method to bypass battery. If you already have 390.PBP keep those buttons pressed until you see “Veryfing 390.PBP”. If the 390.PBP is being downloaded via wifi, press those buttons at the end of download until you see the previous sentence.

i have install the sony firmware 3.90 on my fat psp.
and i need to change that version to 3.90-M33-2 to play the iso game on my fat psp.

My psp is 3.52 m33-4, when I try to install this it’s keep saying: “unpacking…done, please wait” what can I do to resolve this problem??
It will hang when the kernel access hasn’t been set to 3.xx.
Just turn the PSP off completely and turn it on again while holding the R button pressed. In the menu set kernel access to 3.xx and reboot.
Now the installer will work just fine.

You need a Pandora battery to install a custom firmware. The easy way is to use pandora and a stick with say 3.71m33 install on it. do a search here or got ebay and try your luck there. :/ If you pay more than $100 US you are mad.

SkypeIn (psp to psp, psp to pc, and pc to psp) is free. SkypeOut (psp to landline phone or psp to cell phone) is like 2 cents a minute or something like that. i only use SkypeIn so im not 100% sure on the SkypeOut pricing

Umm Yeah there was many, PS1 games worked like Crap, SNES worked like garbage on it, and many other problems. I’ll stick with my 3.71M33, that seems to work the best, and with my 8GB Sony Stick, works fine, 380 didnt not like my Stick, AND yes it’s a REAL stick, before anyone say’s OH check if it’s a Fake. IT”S REAL.

Well do you have a 8GB SONY STick, because that’s what works like Crap with 3.80, I had it working OK, yeah just OK with the 1GB and 4GB stick, but allot of stuff was Buggy, as in PS1 Resident Evil, and CWCheat, so I went back to a Good FW, 3.71, everything works Fine with my 8GB stick with that FW. So until they make a FIX for those Sticks, I’ll stick to 3.71, or until SONY actually makes a Good FW with stuff to be Excited about.
I have a real genuine 8 GB Sony stick and it works PERFECTLY with all M33’s including this one.
If you want to know what a real one is supposed to look like do a search on ebay for “*GENUINE* SONY 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo 8 GB Retail PSP” sold by a user called “1800memory” and his comment is “BEWARE FAKE Sony P/N with T, 3+0+3 seals or BLUE 8GB/GO”
They look real they may even work kinda ok for most stuff but they are cheap garbage. Don’t use them if you can afford to get the real stuff. :)

a lot of people had problems with pops loader not working as well as speed among other problems mostly due to some of the new things sony did with the firmware. just go look through the forums and youll see.
I was only asking out of curiosity as I’ve not had any issues with that firmware even when running pops loader…
Some game compatability went down with 3.80, with ps1 games that is.

This is a surprise. He made this faster than most other releases. He must have been on this the minute it was posted. He shouldn’t have had too much of a problem because of this being similar to 3.80. And you don’t have to download anything using a computer anymore (unless u use 1.50 kernal then that’s different)

The readme file in the download I just used says 3.90 no typos.

:( My memory stick stopped loading 11% into the upgrade… I got bricked… I can’t find my spare PSP to pandora a battery…
all u need to do after u use the pandora’s battery is start up the psp without the battery…(with the power cord) then put the battery back in.. then go into the pandora’s battery program and switch the battery to normal… u really don’t need another battery.
Go!Messenger is for Europe only. In Recovery mode you can change your region. that’s what I did. It looks cool, but it’s not online yet. I’m guessing it’s some video IM thing that works with PSP Camera (hence why it will NOT come out in the US)
um hello the US go!cam is coming out either late this year or early next and when that happens im sure sony will put go!messager in the US firmware

Backup your memory stick. Reformat MS and GAME390 will be there. Or just rename that folder to GAME390.

Not going to happen. You can’t update from an official firmware of Sony’s, to a custom, unless the firmware is 1.5 or you already have a custom firmware.

He’s right it will be impossible for entire life! It’s because above 1.50 firmwares can’t run unsigned codes. Unless if sony made a huge mess with a big hole in the firmware that runs unsigned codes all over again which will never happen again i guess.
There’s ALWAYS big mess-ups in companies like Sony so don’t give up hope!
DRAMAIZATION:
Sony will try to make a new firmware to stop hacking 4EVER, but forget important stuff like what files can be in photos and music resulting in us (Both Fat and Slim users) being able to put stuff in those folders and do a total down-grade so powerful… well, you can image the rest. :)

1.50 Eboot is only the most downloaded file on this site.
Try it again and make sure your not using any download accelerators or other stuff.
Secondly it’s in a zip format so try opening it using windows built-in or winzip. Maybe somethings not right with your winrar install or something.

Popsloader fixed, I had problems loading games in 3.80, not sure about slowdown issues which I noticed during some FMV
I’ll stick to 3.71M33 untill they fix all the Bugs with Sony 8GB Sticks, and untill Pops Loader Universal actually works with it, because it sure did not work with my Stick and 380 when I had it.

Your only choice and way is a Pandora Battery & Memory Stick. I think after Pandora came out, looks like no one’s bother to look for exploits in the firmwares anymore. Last one I recall must of been the Lumminies Exploit which was good up to 3.50. Don’t recall hearing any more after that since that’s when Pandora came around if I recall correctly.

go into recovery and set fake region to default if you got your psp in the US or to america if you bought it elsewhere

Original 1.52 PSP and the pandora fix with the 1.50 downgrader works fine. I some how had a feeling something like that would hapen. I did mine the ol’ fashion way. Manually downloaded the files.

short answer: custom firmare can only be installed on a psp running 1.5, if you’re >3.5 you’ll need something called pandora, check the forums.
no if you’re SONY firmware 3.5 theres an exploit in Lumines, no need for a pandora battery

3.90m33 runs better then 3.80m33-5. played madden 08, on my psp that has 3.80m33-5 and used my brothers, psp 3.90m33. and the game runs smoother.

Dam, I just went from 3.40ea to 3.52m33.4, now this! way too fast for me lol.
I guess the only time that DAX Takes his time on new CFW is when hes adding new features.
I think I was one of the last 3.52 hold-outs. I switched to the Japanese region so I could check out PSP TV and one of the games I downloaded from there (monster hunter 2) required 3.80. So I figured: “Ah, What the heck?”
Upgraded from 3.52M33-4 to 3.80M33 flawlessly. Then I used network update to go up to 3.90M33. It even downloaded the 3.90 eboot automatically!
Question: If I wanted to go back to 3.52 M33-4, could I just run it from Game, or would I have to downgrade to 1.5 first?

thats true,specially PS1’s resident evil 1,2,3,survival freezes..from 3.71 m33 till this 3.90m33,doesnt work..somehow i’m still using 3.52 m33-3,works perfectly in all psx games,applications and all homebrews…
3.52 m33 is a good CFW and all but only 1 down side ….. can’t play newer games =( But really i have not had any problems with 3.80 m33-5 or 3.90 m33 (all games apps and psx games i test work 100%) and i have tested all that everyone keeps saying does not work.
But 3.52 m33 is still a Killer CFW and i do wish they make cintro work on 3.90 m33 But thats just a Hope/Wish really Not a Big thing.
Just wondering if any of you guys have check out PSPTUBE on 3.90m33..
And does it work ???. Wanna upgrade but dont wanna lose PSPTUBE as i be gettin right into that is me

1st download the 1.50.PBP http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4
then place that in the root of your memory stick(were the video,iso folder etc.. are) then put the other files you downloaded(CFW 3901.50 kernal and put them in game folder

first things first, 3.90 m33 is awesome, but still has some bugs, rather wait for another update.
secondly irshell doesnt work for the new 3.90 m33, nor most of the other apps. and Ahman has retired stopped making updates for irshell.
im gona stick to 3.80m33 i have no problems with it so far.
this release of 3.90 fw is just a test proceedure for sony, we are the guinee pigs. they are testing to see how many people would actually use voip services with the psp. because they are about to release the psp-phone combined, with skype installed.
therefore, if u guys want to use homebrew apps such as irshell and cwcheat etc… then stick with 3.80 m33 for now. plus skype doesnt have an open chatroom like yahoo so its kinda crap.

I need your help to this weird problem: i have a 3.52-4 m33 and i try to update to 3.71 m33 but the instaler in my psp says that i don’t have 3.52 m33(which i have 100%) and the instalation stops. I try several times with no luck even i try the 3.80 m33 which again it was the same weird problem!? PLEASE ANYONE CAN HELP ME?
turn off ur psp and then go to recovery > config > and change kernel 1.5 to 3.52

I upgraded to 3.90 M33 via network update. After it’s done, I formatted my MS. I am wondering why it is still GAME380 folder inside the PSP folder instead of GAME390.
i had that to.. i just renamed the folder to 3.90..strange though.

Has anyone been able to get a Sega Genesis emulator running on ver. 3.90-m33? I figured the 1.50 Kernel Add on would do the trick, but DGEN (which had been working on fw 1.50 previously) will not launch. Any tips?
try picodrive which is a newer release than DGEN. i have 3.90-m33 and it works for me

When you update from 3.80m33-5 to 3.90 m33 you do not have the 1.50_addon for 3.80 on the psp anymore (thats why you need to install the New 1.50_addon for 3.90 m33)
ok i have tested close to 20 psx games on the 3.90 m33 with 3.00-3.80 popsloader-set on 3.40 and ALL games worked 100%

Wow I’m surprised, what Memory stick are you using ? I was using my 8GB Sony Stick ( YES It’s real ) and It worked like garbage with 3.80. I used my 4GB and 1Gb Stick and Resident Evil Still worked like crap, some of the other stuff worked, but it was still Garbage. So I downgraded back to 3.71 and all is good again :D Good to hear some of this stuff is better with 3.90, But I’ll wait a while still before I get new FW again.

i hope DA releases an update regarding this case. It’s not only the tekken iso that went wrong. i checked other isos as well such as bomberman, sega rally.. there is also a lag part on tekken even if you’re CPU Speed is at 333

Im sorry i’m such a noob, but i was wondering if i could get some help. I now have 3.71m33 on my PSP slim and I was wondering if I have to downgrade or if i can just put the custom firmware and the official firmware in the same folder and run the cfw right from the psp. I would really appreciate some help. I got a friend of a friend to do it the first time but I don’t want to bother him if a could manage to do it on my own. Any help is greatly appreciated.
