and btw no this doesnt mean the new mobo is unhackable, it just means you wont be able to softmod a batt to make it a pandora with this mobo. it blocks the eeprom(file on the battery itself) from being flashed. but like i said before, if it can be made, it can be broken, just give it some time.

My friend just bought a brand new silver slim psp … the phatty (non pandora) battery would not work in it. However the Pandora battery worked fine and downgraded just fine as well.
380M33-5 loaded perfectly!!

Anyway, Sony is great for making the PSP-hardware. It’s only logical that they try to protect their investment by making it harder to play downloaded games. No problems.

But thanks to DarkAlex we can play homebrew, so DAX is great aswell.

Conclusion, Sony and DAX are great, because one without the other would be worthless.

Personally I think Sony should drop all the bullshit and allow modding and hacking. Sure they might lose a few bucks on the homebrew scene, but think logically for a second. Wouldn’t they expand overall unit sales? I know for a fact that PSP is hands down the best handheld made, and we all know why. Suffice it to say, if they actually embraced this issue rather than fight against it, they could stand to make more.
A good analogy of this would be in it’s actual abilities. If you do what I do you like to research what you’re buying right? I mean, my money is limited so I can’t just run out and blow a grip on some mysterious product. By unlocking all these features they could easily call them “features” and list them on the package.
How many of us would blow a load seeing,
“All new key features: New Ability to play PSX games on your PSP, New Custom Firmwares unlocking the full potential of the PSP”
I think it would be much smarter, especially considering there’s really not a damn thing they can do to stop hacking and customizing. Where there’s a will there’s a way. It’s in our nature as humans to fuck with shit til we either break it or modify it….lol. nuff said, hopefully I’ve made my point.

On a side note, what they’ve already done to the PSP Slim is almost unforgivable. They’ve made the analog stick one solid piece, so you can no longer buy replacements for it. This is usually a minor issue, but since the Slim’s accessories such as cases and whatnot aren’t in serious demand yet, we Slim owners have to either buy older case styles or wait it out. I WOULD have been able to purchase Naki’s Swing Case, BUT the faceplate was so thick the analog was burried rendering the PSP unplayable in it’s case, which is what it was designed for.
A minor disappointment, but one none the less.

Sony’s behavior is not unlike any other multi-national corp, which sucks. At first it starts off more for the people, then it becomes all about them. I hate Nintendo for the same reasons. At least with Sony you don’t have to worry about them calling themselves a “family based entertainment system” News is out that franchises like Silent Hill will NOT be made for the Wii due to the lack of “hardcore” gamers. How Capcom managed to get past the radar with any of the RE games is beyond me. I’m damn glad they did, but still makes me wonder what Nintendo is thinking by ousting mature games like that. What I REALLY hate about them is their uncompromising refusal to support their older systems once a new one is launched. I personally own a gamecube, and love it, but due to them dropping it like a rock when the Wii was launched, I can no longer find new games, and have to buy used. Though Sony might be assholes, at least they support their gear. You can STILL buy new PS2 games brand new, which I think is pretty nice.
Doesn’t mean they’re not pricks though….lol. Just means they’re on the stick as far as at least keeping us happy while they rape our wallets…lmao. Then again the same can be said about microshaft. I think we should all be glad Sony at least hasn’t reached the level of total fucking greed and stupidity microsoft has. I’m no Mac user either. Basically if it says Corp at the end of the company name, you can bet your ass they’re greed assholes. As I stated before, Sony would be much better off embracing this.
I’m pretty sure the ONLY real way they could entirely stop hacking is if they removed the firmware from the battery and add a system diagnostic tool that scans hardware and software both on boot. It would notice the 5th pin as damaged and would refuse to load until the battery was replaced. Let’s all hope they don’t get smart and try it =S

First off, Mike you make a valid point, unfortunately it’s either PSP or DS, and I’ll take PSP over nintendo any day. Secondly, Young, what the fuck do you know? What, you think Sony actually makes money from a $30 game as opposed to a $200 PSP?
Instead of being a mindless bandwagon jumper, find your own opinion. And if THIS is your opinion, you’re better off stealing someone else’s because you’re obviously not smart enough to grasp basic math and economics.
People don’t necessarily buy PSP’s for their gaming ability. I myself bought it more for it’s media capability. So if I buy a PSP and no games, how’s that force them into a tight spot? They STILL got their cut of the two bills I spent for the rig. Plus you have to factor in the retailer’s end of that $30 game. At most they may pick up a $15 to $20 chunk at max.
