PSP UAE4ALL r1 — A New Amiga Emulator
greg | January 16, 2008
TTYman’s got a brand new bag. And by bag I mean an Amiga emulator for the PlayStation Portable. Now before you start chopping heads in Barbarian, you’ll need to obtain the Amiga Kickstart 1.3 ROM. Use those crafty Google skills of yours for that. Have fun!

PSP UAE4ALL r1 highlights:
- Based on latest Chui’s Dreamcast UAE4ALL and notaz’s uae4all gp2x v0.7.2a optimized blitter routines;
- Maximum speedup hacks using single precision math hardware support;
- Full screen hardware scaled support;
- Fixed Overclock to 333 MHz while emulating, 222 MHz in menu;
- Only 546KB kernel build version (1.7MB user mode build).
More features, how to work those, and all that — see readme-psp.txt.

Wiked Lovee amiga
That is just great, another Amiga emulator :) I wonder how fast it is, will try now!
Amiga yes! Brings back grandfather memories!
for some reason the screen goes black, then the PSP shuts off when I try to start a ADF-image. I put a kickstart 1.3 file in the main directory and named it kick.rom and all. my PSP is 3.52 M33. Any help?
Having the same issues on 3.80 M33 here..black screen and a reset. ;(
no offense but who uses these things? o.O
Me for one. The Amiga computers had some of the best games ever made and I still enjoy a great deal of them to this day. The chance to be able to play these classics for Amiga, and other various old systems, on the move was one of the main reasons I got a PSP and certainly the main reason I got mine homebrewed.
Raises hand.
Bloody idiots thinking the only systems of yesteryear came from Nintendo and Sega.
Amen to that!
NES was a sad story filled with crappy Amiga ports!
I was waiting for some new development on Amiga emulation field for like a year. I still have two Amigas 500 with a 1 MB extended memory and we are playing Space Crusade, Disposable Heroes and Megalomania on them here and there with my brothers. To have it on the go is so sweet, I cant’ get enough of it. Thank you devs, great work.
Any got Super Stardust working with this? I just hear music playing…
you will never get Super Stardust on this, it’s an A1200 game.
This emulator is A500 only. You will be able to run Stadust however, providing it’s compatible (which a lot of things arent on the FAME/C core)
Wow – this is almost perfect amiga emulation! Found a few that dont work but when they do … awesome work – thanks
this is a great release thanks TTYman very much appreciated,i got a question for TTYman When are u gonna update the Mame4alle emu for the psp?
keep up the good work.
im on 3.03 oec ,loads up but i get a black screen then reboot, try’d quite a few games and they all do the same thing … is this emu any good ?
This is terrible. I tried all my Amiga games and there was unplayable slowdown and odd bursts of frameskipping on every one. Everything is set up to work too.
The Amiga (the console as we know it, not the previous Microcomputer) was a 14mhz computer from 1992. How on earth can’t people emulate it on a 333mhz dual powerhouse. Bad coders. I’ve coded better things in my sleep.
go back to school
Dear J, you are the most awesome and contributing person of all hacking community. We need more of your educated comments here. Why dont’ you start a book about you and your life. I think it will be a bestseller. Can get your signed photo? I’m a big fan of yours.
The reason that it runs slowly is because amiga hardware is very complex. The Copper for instance has to be syncronized with the cpu, and also defines the video parameters. The Blitter uses dma which also has to be in sync with the cpu.
There are many other parts that have to be synced to the cpu too.
This all adds up to a big speed hit for the emu.
FWIW my old 1.2Ghz PC can’t run WinUAE at 100% speed without frameskip.
” emulate it on a 333mhz dual powerhouse.”
I think you’ll find the psp has one single core cpu
For those of you who get a black screen and the PSP shuts off and stuff like that probably use the latest version of cfw 3.80 M33 or M33-2… the emulator will work perfectly if you install the 1.5 addon thingy.
This emulator is so much faster than PSPUAE…. too bad this one lacks keyboard support, but not needed in many Amiga games anyway. Many of the games I’ve tried runs in near perfect speed, and best of all, perfect sound speed emulation, no stuttering and shit like PSPUAE has… this emulator is the best of the two.
I’m playing on a Fat with 3.80 M33-2, 1.5 addon.
Oh, and for all the Amiga fans out there that doesn’t know about this page yet, here it is:
http://www.recordedamigagames.org
Recorded amiga games, longplays, speedruns and misc movies :)..
Another thing, for those of you who says alot of games doesn’t work, well, they do. If a game you try doesn’t work and all that happens is that you see the insert disk screen, then it’s probably the file name that the emulator doesn’t like.
Lots of games I’ve tried doesn’t work, but when renaming them, they do.
Like:
Batman – The Movie (1989)(Ocean)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr QTX].adf
doesn’t seem to work, but if renamed to:
Batman – The Movie 1.adf
then it work :).
Another important observation. Think I read in the readme or somewhere that this emulator supports zipped files… might be wrong, but it doesn’t seem to work so good for me… so, my new observation is:
This one doesn’t work, I only get the insert-disk-screen (the hand, 1.3):
Agony (1992)(Psygnosis)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr CSL].zip
Renaming it to:
Agony 1-3.zip
doesn’t work either, same result.
BUT unzipping it and havning the name of Agony 1-3.adf works perfectly… so can’t be zipped, and like I said in another message above, can’t have those weird file names, donno what it is that the emulator doesn’t like, maybe it’s the ()[] characters, maybe it’s the file names that are too long.
Well, if you just keep the file names as adf, short and no special characters, then most games should work…. A500 games that is…
So STOP complaining :D.. This emulator is fantastic!!!
Another thing I’ve noticed, if you get the game to run, but you can’t see anything, only hear sound and stuff, then you might need to change the Throttle. By default it’s set to 60, I change this to 0 or 20, which I prefer to use. Some games I’ve tried just plays sound or whatever, but the screen is either frozen och black, in most cases if I change the Throttle to 0 or 20, it works perfectly :).
This is a step backward…and I really hate to say that. No display options…only a nasty stretched screen. The emulation is quite slow too. Well, that could also be attributed to usermode on a slim on my end. PSPUAE runs *much* better…at least in the slim world.
I have an Amiga 500 and 3000 sitting in my basement. Complete with video editing box and about 4 moving boxes of diskettes. There literally 100 pounds of games and software. I wonder if it would be worth anything…..
Lovely emulator, i don’t mind the stretched screen, but we really need an option to swap the controlls from the D-pad to the thumbstick.
I can’t play SuperCars II without the D-pad
Thankyou.
Resolution modification:
I’ve made a modification to the resolution in which PSP UAE4All draws the screen – it’s now 384×216 pixels which is very close to correct aspect ratio considering the PSP’s 480×272-format.
This height of 216 pixels is sufficient for most Amiga games (btw the exact Turrican II – height) and thus you should enjoy them more with this mod. Of course the resolution is bad for playing Pinball Dreams or the PAL-version of Battle Squadron for example.
The second resolution mod is 320×200 and fullscreen on your PSP for many, many games like Wings, Beast, Lotus, Paradroid, Speedball 2, etc. …
CONTROL MOD:
Implemented some keystrokes (Return, Space, F1, 1 and Alt), changed the position of the firebuttons and activated the d-pad as joy-input.
d-pad: move joystick + move mouse
analog stick: move joystick
square button: fire
cross button: joystick up (jump) + left mouse button
circle button: fire 2 + right mouse button
triangle: space
L-trigger: F1 and 1
R-trigger: ALT (=> grenade in Turrican I)
R+L (keep pressed): speedx10 + sound off
START: Return (Enter)
Grab the changed EBOOTS (resolution 320×200 and 384×216) here:

or here:
http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=2LA1JOPN
P.S. Use the keystrokes (ALT, F1) sparingly, because they have a kinda high repeat-rate and may sometimes lead to lockups.
Only the Pandora will be able to handle Amiga games in full speed.. http://www.openpandora.org its gona rock! but they making us wait for already a year.. :( so slowww
