PSPWrite v1.0.4 and Portable VNC v1.2.7 Released

greg | January 1, 2008

ZX-81 continues his homebrew rampage with the first two releases of 2008. Those are PSPWrite — the IR keyboard enabled text editor, and Portable VNC — the remote desktop software.

PSPWrite v1.0.4 changes:

  • Add select/cut/copy/paste feature
  • Text can be copied to clipboard and then copied to another/new file (useful to merge several files together).
  • New files are now named using a unique id (to prevent filename conflicts)
  • New background image for file requester and help window

Portable VNC v1.2.7 changes:

  • Fix issue with fw3x (not enough heap memory)
  • Fix issue with irkeyboard (linked with latest version)

For the VNC server, I recommend TightVNC. Click here to get that.

Excellent. I’m glad they updated it, I was having tons of problems with the older version..

Where exactly on your PSP stick are you supposed to put the VNC? No matter where I put it it either doesn’t show up or shows up as corrupted data.

NVM. Figured it out. On the other hand, I connect to my wi-fi but in the end this thing just won’t connect.

Did you install the other program on your PC?

VNC is a VERY stable application, which uses login information to create a key and thus, encrypt the connection. Even going LAN from PC to PC can be rough when trying to set up VNC. For best results, make sure you are able to transfer files among your network if you have multiple PCs on that network, and make sure you DO assign a username and password, and have it correct on BOTH ends. From my experience, VNC won’t even work properly without using login information (When I had VNCed computers, they’d deny connections without credentials:

“Connecting without login information is too insecure. Closing Connection”

Hope this helps the n00pulation.

I recommend “realVNC” for this.
It has fast screen-polling, wich means fast build up of the screen oyu see, and the taskbar is always visable.
