Comments (293)Word that a new PSP Slim motherboard preventing the creation of a Pandora’s battery is among us — the TA-085 v2. That’s not to say an existing Pandora battery won’t work — it still should.
Sony has apparently blocked access to the battery’s eeprom; meaning our [existing] software methods are rendered ineffective. The workaround: use a friend’s PSP or go the hardware route.

Comments (115)Sony has released firmware version 3.90. Those sleek Slim owners now have official Skype support; while us Fat lamers, including myself, only get added support for PLAYSTATION®Network titles. So what, big whoop, wanna fight about it?
You can grab 3.90 from us or via Network Update. You may need to disable “M33 Network Update” if you’re running custom firmware 3.80 M33. That’s located under the recovery console.
Stay tuned for more updates. You know the usual routine — firmware is released, later dumped and decrypted, Skype support ripped out… Yadda, yadda, yadda…

Comments (56)All good things must come to an end… Ahman, developer of iR Shell — probably the best homebrew to ever exist for the PSP — has waved goodbye leaving behind one final release.
iR Shell is literally packed with a remarkable feature set for both Slim and Fat models — listen to MP3’s while in-game, multi-task between UMD/ISO/homebrew and any of iR Shell’s built-in functions, enjoy 2 player PSOne games wirelessly with another PSP, etc… The fun never stops!
If you’re a newcomer, I suggest you download and open the included PDF-formatted user guide to get started. You won’t be disappointed.

Comments (69)Join ZX-81 on his trip into the 80s with two more emulators — PSPSIM and PSP2600. Emulate the SAM Coupe home computer and the Atari 2600 game console.
PSPSIM packs many optimizations improving overall performance. Several games are now running 50 fps @ 222MHz.
PSP2600 also shows a speed upgrade by using the PSP GU to render its graphics. Another notable addition is ZX-81’s “auto-fire” mode; for games such as Plaque Attack or Space Invaders.

Equip your Slim and grab those component cables because SofiyaCat has released a new version of PSPTube with experimental TV out support. In addition to that; the [translated] changelog says…
“Win, Tails of Shh adults only, please use at your own risk” is likely to spark some interest as well… I’m not certain what it actually refers to, but we’ll soon find out.

PSP UAE4ALL continues to get the loving attention it deserves… Again john4p has further enhanced the emulator by adding support for analog mouse control; leaving us now with 5 different control modes.
The 411:
“Alphabet Input Control” has all 26 letters of the alphabet.
“Pinball Dreams and Numeric Input - Control” has the numbers 0-9.
John4p has created EBOOTs for the resolutions 320×200, 384×216, 414×240, and 480×272. This time they’re available as KERNEL and USERMODE builds.

Comments (14)Update: Installation problems? Aura sheds some insight –
…it looks like everyone fell foul of a purposeful thing I added to Project4, after the problems with bricking last time around because people didn’t read the readme, I decided to NOT make a file structure, instead I hoped people would read into it and find where the file must go. The Project4 installer has a hard coded loading path, which is ms0:/PSP/GAME/Project4, you MUST have all the files in here for it to work, next time I’ll just place this in the readme I think, and I’m sorry for any problems this has caused.”
It’s coming, it’s coming… And here it is! Auraomega has unveiled Project4 Open Beta numéro deux. Please read our previous Project4 news coverage should you find yourself asking the question, “what’s the dealio, yo?”
Auraomega notes, “the code has not changed for installing/un-installing, so if there was an underlying bug, it’s going to remain there.” How to install / uninstall and other important tidbits in README.txt.
What’s new?

I found the buttons held no consistency whatsoever, so I decided to re-work the entire controls for Project4, these below show what all buttons do now:
In anticipation of replacing the XMB with Project4, I strongly recommend you create yourself a pandora battery with magic memory stick. Project4 is beta software — unforeseen problems may occur. Stay alert, stay safe.
