PSP Magical Security Mod
greg | December 4, 2007
Move over Criss Angel, you ain’t got nothin’ on this! l0rdnic0, member of Acidmods, has the mystifying ability to power on/off PSPs by simply waving his hands over top of the device. Allow l0rdnic0 to demonstrate…
Disabling your original PSP on/off/sleep switch, and replacing with this one, you will no doubt fool your siblings, thieves, or whomever else is unable to keep their hands off your stuff.

what can i say wow
Um… Great… Everytime you go through a tunnel or put it in your pocket it turns on and off… Very un practical IMO… Would just be easier to have a PW screen at startup.
LOL it uses a magnet to turn on and off ther is a tiny glass tube inside called a reed switch. if you pass a magnet over a reed switch it actovates. so with out the magnet it won’t turn on or off.
if u cant even spell activate right, i doubt u can really give an answer like that.
Oh yeah, Magnets and Computer Components go together really well………you twat.
congrats! you just made an ass out of yourself. turns out he is right
I didn’t investigate it any farther than what was written on psp-hacks.com(this article)… And it stated nothing about magnets… So as far as I was informed this is a stupid idea.
But now that I know theres magnets involved I know the maker is probably a moron! What kinda idiot would mix magnets and computing electronics?!?
Magnets only really effect CRTs and hard drives, neither of which are part of the PSP (unless you actually bought one of those stupid PSP hard drives).
You’re a fool!!!! The PSP has non shielded speakers built in it, why don’t you google “non shielded speakers” and figure out what that has to do with magnets! Dummy make an educated comment next time.
your a prick, not every computer part uses a magnet. fucking idiott you know hard drives are sensitive to magnets but use 2 high powered magnets to spin the rotation
how about this tp5com..
FUCK YOU!!
burn the witch! burn the witch!
Hmmm other things have magnets in them….
Fuckn sweet.
Hmm, so how exactly do you turn it off? From what I could see all it does is go into sleep mode and wakes back up? Looks pretty cool all the same, though.
hold the magnet there for longer to shut it off
If you want to fully power down the unit you hold the magnet over the reed switch for two seconds, much like holding the factory power button in the up position for two seconds.
thats pretty cool not gonna lie
Pointless.
Just like ur post u noob!! this is nice and tp5com….lol at u homie….pwned!!
please make a little less sense next time you post something. thanks
holy sh*t, that’s Nice :D
It’s a Light Dependant Resistor, duh!
No its a reed switch!
yes it is most likely a reed switch i have wired a few things(pcs, xboxes, tvs) to use them to turn on and off im actually surprised no one has thought of this sooner its relay a common mod on computers
wait. PC and Magnet shouldn’t be all too close.
Its fine, the PSP does not have a CRT or a hard drive so there is no problem using a magnet to turn on the PSP with a reed switch. Also as posted before the PSP has magnets in the speakers that Sony uses in the PSP and you don’t see any problem there :)
lol “criss angel doesnt have nothing on this” thatz bcus criss angel is fake in youtube he shows how he dus his trickz lol
And for my next trick - making a retard post directly above me. . . . Ta da!
thatz a nice mod btw 2 bad ill neva get none of that shit
HOLY SHIT!!! HOW IF YOU DON’T HAVE A HAND IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE YOUR FEET? =P
WHY? why would you have a psp if you dont have hands? that dont make any sense..lol this is a cool mod. l0rdnic0 rocks
roland corp has something similar called D-Beam.
hey, this is a cool mod. Not all mods are useful to all people. When anyone commenting negatively here comes up with something better, let me know.
I second that! Thank you..
oh wow, i think i just shat my pants a little.
i am so getting this mod!
haye just wondering, can we set the boot video to be just a sound with no video?
*makes the boot sound a fancy particle sound effect
:D
Nifty untill you for some reason in the middle of a game have to change position and grab hold of your PSP with one hand in the mioddle of a game and “Turn it OFF” *Lolz*
Only if you still had the magnet in your hand :D
once again, another completely useless mod to the psp.
the point is perhaps not what it does, but the potential it can create. keep doing what your doing l0rdnic0. good job.
f*ckin pointless, show off to your friends my ass. lol, look at this magnet in my hand as i *magically* wave it over my 200$ psp to turn it on and off.
Hehehehe pointless just like your comment :P
do u have to open the psp to do this?
I think it’s pretty cool, I wouldn’t use it, but acidmods, have a great resource for mods. not everyone will use them, but that’s not the point, right?
i dont get it lol how does it stop ppl from playin your psp cuz once they find out its over. otherwise thats a kool mod
This mod is sick!!! Wish I had that mod in my psp!
i agree its not practical…but that is not the point…the point is how much shit you can customize on the psp…and as that…its a fucking marvel!!! kool mod..
i have the same thing in my crackberry so it tells when it’s in my holster. i had it out but near the holster and the screen kept turning on and off. i figured it out evenyually…
