Official PSP Firmware 3.73 Released

Update: New for 3.73: Operation of the UMD™ drive has been improved to address cases in which the UMD™ drive occasionally suspends and fails to reload data. Updating the system software to version 3.73 will resolve this issue.
Sony has released PSP firmware 3.73 over at the official PlayStation Japan website. It appears only to be a minor update — stay tuned for more details surrounding that. No doubt 3.73 will be available worldwide very soon.
Furthermore, it’s reported _HellDashX_ has decrypted firmware 3.73 already, which doesn’t really surprise me. The known track record: Sony releases a new firmware; said firmware is decrypted hours or even minutes after its release; a day or two later a new custom firmware is available — if it’s worth it. So with that in mind, perhaps we’ll see one shortly.

Uhh actually, alot of people stayed on 3.40 OE till it was revealed M33 was DAX & Others. Where have you been? And actually alot of people still use the older firmwares probably.
Actually, I just figured since DA was supposedly leaving the scene I may as well keep my psp up to date with whatever sony makes and whatever M33 adds in, so I just went with M33. After I saw what their firmware had and saw that it had little to no bugs in it I just couldn’t resist.

Pimp streamer works with divx/xvid encoded files if they have the .avi extension. (never tried with .divx or .xvid cause I always use the avi extension when encoding divx media)
Only thing is, it requires wireless networking.
The only other thing I want from Sony firmware is functional PSOne 2 player Adhoc support! Like whats available through iRshell 3.81 just more reliable.

The psp is much more convenient than the box PS3…althought that has emense power. Before Pandora it was always a challenge to Downgrade and upgrade. Because of Pandora we can downgrade from OFW. That will be the day I will look forward to where we a a Pandora CFW. Pandora CFW = Patch any future OFW, and have a CFW within a minute or two. Such as 5.97-PFW
PFW = Pandora Firmware. Hey idea’s here first. But I say this is a really cool idea. Props to DAX!

I beg to differ. Pandora got so far, and reach the point where u can downgrade any OFW. Even future ones. Before that was never thought of, no one thought that would be possible. All I am saying is that it has to start with a idea, then some inspiration. And, who knows, I can guarantee that A Pandora CFW, that works as the same concept as Pandora Battery. I can gurantee that at least one person can do it. And, thats DarkAlex. It might take some time, but its only an idea. I didn’t say it would work or not. If DarkAlex knows for sure thats not possible, then it isn’t. Until then, I was only expressing an idea.

You’ll need a copy of Lumines 1 if you’re still on OFW 3.50 or a pandora’s battery if not…
Once you have these you can go down to OFW 1.50 which will allow you to upgrade to 3.71 M33-3 (Note: there is no 3.72M33)

I have been looking at these Sony CEO comments and so on, and it looks like we know more about our “beloved” psp than they do… or was that horrendously obvious…
i think sony is running out of ideas of what to do with the psp. and there is not much they can do to it without messing with the hardware. if im right the psp only has 32 mb or ram and 4 mb of sdram ( that stands for: single-data rate random access memory)….that’s not much to work with. There are a few more things that can be done though. like maybe some public location free channels. or moving wallpapers on the background. i think we have come to expect to much out of this device. The problems with it now are in the hardware, not the software. Hopefully sony does do something magical and wow us. But, for now i think it’s gonna be up to the hackers out there to deliver the goods. As a last thought… have the hackers thought of making a firmware from the ground up? maybe thats how we will be able to get the things we want out of the psp.

yes u can update to the 3.71m-33. just dont upadte to the oem firmware then try to do the hack. u will have to install the firmware then drag in the custom part inside the upadte folder. the custom part of the firmware should have some instructions on how to do it. if u have any other questions u can look me up on facebook ( just go to the search section and do the following: search for justin ray in gainesville florida, my profile pic is the one of me in a tan brittish golfers hat) i would give more ingo but this is a public site.
im on 3.71 m33 is it beter to download 1.5 or 3.xx downloads is onw more faster or compatible than another
ur on a good firmware. the main problem with going with the 1.50 is that there is alot less compatibility when it comes to doing legit thinsg with ur psp, like playing games. On the pluss side tere is usually a patch that u can downoad to fix this problem. I would gi with the 3.51 m-33 fw myself. and if u choose the 3.52 m-33 u would have greater ease of user when playing the newer games without having to install custom patches.
