iR Shell v3.81 Released! *Updated*

greg | November 22, 2007

Update: Quick on the draw is AhMan with a bug fix update — version 3.81. If you’ve already installed 3.8, just download the update overwriting the current installation on your memory stick. Otherwise, the full 3.81 package can also be obtained below.

  • Fixed a critical bug in the iR Shell firmware patch which results in unable to launch UMD in XMB and also causes various incompatibility issues with other homebrew apps & seplugins. Just apply the new patch and all issues will be resolved.
  • Fixed a bug in Contect Menu which wouldn’t allow you to choose “Select” or “Start” menu items.

Tis the season… AhMan has unveiled the update of all updates — iR Shell v3.8. Most notably is PSP Slim and PSOne 2 player Adhoc support! Additional feature highlights bundled in version 3.8 are detailed below. Read that over, along with the included documentation, and enjoy the #1 PSP shell replacement.

iR Shell 3.8 Screenshot

iR Shell v3.8 feature highlights:

  • Supports the latest M33 firmwares across both Phat & Slim. Slim users can choose among 3.60M33, 3.71M33-1 to 3.71M33-3.
  • PSOne 2-Player Adhoc Support.
  • Introduces a new Context Menu System. Functions (plugins) under context menu will always be available to all file types, similar to the right mouse menu click under Windows.
  • Added a new Multi-tasking PRX Plugin System. This allows user written PRX Plugins for iR Shell to multi-task with another game/app. The included PRX HTML/Text Viewer developed by korDen allows you to view HTML & Text documents while playing games or homebrews..
  • With the help from Dark_AleX, support to M33 & NP9660 No UMD Modes have been added. NetHostFS & UsbHostFS are also available for the No UMD modes.
  • Added support to the latest Popsloader for 3.71M33-3 by Dark_AleX.
  • Allow random start of MP3 for the alarm clock function, so you’ll be greeted with different tunes each morning.
  • Added the options to put your PSP to auto-sleep while idle to save battery.
  • Allows you to press Hot-Key to turn off/on all LEDs. The annonying memory stick or WiFi LEDs will no longer distract you from watching your favorite video/movie.
  • Support TV-Out for Slim via component cable.
  • Added the display of volume bar for PSP main volume in iR Shell.
  • plus numerous bug fixes.

I really hope this fixed the problem with the Infra red remote part not accepting the old txt remote codes. that was the only reason I really wanted it.

Does anybody know the best way to get all the remote codes?

Comment by Fidget
2007-11-22 23:59:27

To my knoldge there was never a problem with codes not being accepted. If you are running 3.71m33 sony is to blame for the infra red not working. I think that feature was removed by sony on fw 3.71
IF this is the problem you are having it can be fixxed.
All you need is a file called sircs.prx
I cant ell you where to get this file because it is copyright protected from sony, but i can maybe give you a point in the right diriction:
sircs.prx is included in fw 3.52
and look for a program called PSAR Dumper
Just a little info..Do what you want with it ;)
With a little research you can find what you need.

To install you just copy the folders - IRSHELL and seplugins to the root of your mmc, what do the eboots in the PSP folder do?

Unfortunately, ALOT of bugs need to be fixed for the Slim version.

Both LightMP3 v1.60 (final) and IRShell v3.81 can’t handle 44.1 Khz OGG files. There’s the old ‘chipmunk’ effect…

And I seem to be having problems with homebrew apps loaded through eLoader v1.000.

(like Game Music Gear 0.1.0 for instance… it plays .ogg files just fine when launched from the XMB, but freezes when eLoader is launched from IRShell)

I’m guessing it’s not a hardware issue on the Slim, just… bad codec libraries (?). I’m running 3.71M33-3, btw.

even with 3.81 version, i still can’t get the no umd option to work. i have a slim psp, running 3.71 m33-3 firmware. anyone else having this problem?

Comment by DSpider
2007-11-23 11:30:52

At first, I did too. Donno why… You should open up the Configurator menu and choose “Sony NP9660 NoUMD Mode”. Then browse to the ISO folder and press X while highlighting an .iso file (or .cso, whatever).

Oh, and if you’re running 3.71 m33, you should go to ms0:/IRSHELL/PATCH/3.71/ and press X on “btcnfpatch.prx” to run it.

My only question, is there any cheat engines compatable with this program? Trying CWCheat 0.19 H and will not run cheat engine when running cso through irshell.

Nice
Im running 3.71 m33-2 on a Phat PSP. I was hoping this would work but no. I can access all my drives with Nethostfs. But when I select an Mp3 off the hard drive nothing happens.I just selected a Jpeg and it hung with RECV_INTEGER problem not 4 bytes: -1.

Anyone got any ideas. I can access my Mp3 and Avis with Pimpstreamer 1.0 as well, but its the same, I cant seem to get anything to play.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx

I too find that this release of IR Shell has problems under 3.52m33-4 (which aparently isn’t fully supported by IR Shell either).

Is there any way to get that lovely multiplayer ad-hoc support for PS1 games WITHOUT having to get IR Shell? I mean seriously. I don’t want to change my shell, or my Apple skin for the matter.
I simply want PS1 2 player support ^__^

you likely arent on a custom firmware…look back at two things on this site…pandora’s battery will let you downgrade your psp back to 1.5 firmware (not software…its firmware) this is needed to re-upgrade to a better “custom” firmware that was written by some of the most awesome hackers out there M33…go and download your favorite i’d suggest 3.52 custom firmware then update that to their fourth custom firmware update…this’ll allow you to run homebrew…good luck, just remember to RTFM and follow ALL directions to a t!

HOMEBREW ONLY WORKS ON CUSTOM FIRMWARE (MODIFIED, NOT THE ORIGINAL/OFFICIAL SONY UPDATED). Please don’t try to use homebrew unless you’ve installed custom firmware (if you don’t know what this is then you probably don’t have it).
