Yacc v0.4.0.1 Released — CSO Compressor!
greg | November 20, 2007
kapoue3’s “Yet Another CSO Compressor” (YACC) is, as you know, the acting Windows front end for CisoPlus — the coolest, most in style way to compress your ISO images — to the max!

The latest version bundles a lot of internal changes and improvements to the overall process. kapoue3 has also added a system information tabsheet for Windows XP and higher. You’ll notice two new skins courtesy of yourpsp.ir and Dorian8821. Translations have been further revamped; specifically Persian by yourpsp.ir. A lot of time has been spent implementing an Arabic character set in a non-Unicode Yacc. So kudos to everyone involved, you guys rock!

great program
Much Better than the old ways.
Just wondering what can this do that umdgen can’t do
Yess! I just upgraded my xp to Dar edition Xp! Nice way to start with a new YACC thanks!
So can this be used in place of PSP iso Compressor and if so, is it better?
yes and YES!! YACC is one the best compressors i think there is for iso’s! Its way easy to use and makes stuff simple which for n00bs thats always nice… darn n00bs
Meh… With UMDGen v4.00 I can ‘dummify’ the UPDATE folder (from the SYSDIR folder) along with BOOT.BIN thus resulting in a 15-20 MB difference !
(but keep EBOOT.BIN because the game won’t start without it)
To produce “better” results with Yacc, you’d need to manually remove the UPDATE folder along with BOOT.BIN (but keep EBOOT.BIN) by using an ISO-editing program like UltraISO or something similar.
Then save the modified ISO and compress it with Yacc. If you do this with UMDGen, it ‘might’ delete other files from other directories. It’s still a bit buggy imo.
Oh, when I said “better” results, I meant something like 500 KB difference between UMDGen and Yacc. All at the expence of the time it takes to manually create another ISO without the UPDATE folder.
LOL Take your pick, they’re both very useful apps.
I think I will just stick with umdgen
The problem with UMDGen is that it creates a temporary backup on the Windows drive (usually C:).
If you don’t have enough space on C: (same as the ISO, which can vary from 30 mb to 1.8 GB), you can set the temp dir to D: or whatever drive you want and you’re good to go.
Google is your friend.
