:O Ghosts N Goblins…. Any hardcore gamer should know that! Also revered as a very difficult game.

Anyhoo, look forward to playing a few coin eaters on the go…..now if I can only figure out where the Quarters go. :P

The quarters go in the UMD Slot…(It accepts half dollars too)

Thanks a load TTYMan, I can’t wait to try this out, the screenshot looks pretty awsome, really draws in attention.

Either one, both games are aesthetically the same in appearance. Ghouls and Ghosts is the sequel, though the first level does look similar.

Anyone who doesnt get how to run it.
Put a .zip folder into your roms folder which includes the rom itself.
Check the supported games text file in your main MAME4ALL file you downloaded.

I can never get this damn emu to work. Why can’t I just drop the roms in the rom folder without converting, like… I dunno, practically every other emulator?

Sure, the CPS2 and Neo Geo emulators require to convert the roms, but it’s simple, and the converter does exactly one thing: CONVERT THE ROMS. Damned if I ever know how to use clrmamepro… I don’t even know where to start!

In the ROM put the .zip folder.

Okay, so turns out I _DID_ set it up correctly, but among the games showing up in the menu (named to match the included gamelist), only my Double Dragon bootleg works.

Can we get a REAL list of supported games? Here, I’ll start:

ddragonb “Double Dragon (bootleg)”

I can’t vouch for the slim, but did you replace the EBOOT.PBP file with the correct one per the instructions? And for the 1.5 version.. I had to run it through the old KXploit to generate the MAME and MAME% files so that it could work on 1.5 It worked for me after I did that.

Comment by Brad
2007-11-06 01:34:33

also.. to Billylee8 instead of complaining about this awesome release 1) Ask nicely for some help, or 2) WRITE YOUR OWN DAMN EMULATOR, and make your own instructions. I get tired of hearing people criticize HUNDREDS of hours of someones work that they gave TO YOU FOR FREE. If you paid for it that was one thing, but you didn’t so go complain about something else.

There’s like a zillion versions of Mame and which versions of the roms they require depends on the build. So when you “acquire” roms, they often are not named properly. That’s why you need to rename them sometimes.

While I agree that homebrew programmers should not be slandered, it is annoying to download a program with sparse instructions. We are not all techno heads, I am sure the vendor of this emu and the more techy minded users can have this up and running in a jiffy, but most of us poor normal users need a bit more help. Or is homebrew only for those who can understand the sparse instructions, for example:- exactly what do I do with the included clrmame_roms.dat file ?

I want to say thanks a million to the devs. Install was simple as a smack. Unrar, read the readme, put the right package for your system in the psp/game and get same compatible game (I did try Black Tyger). Zip file of the game goes in ROM folder under MAME directory. What can be confusing about that I cant understand. If you cant’ do this you should do a little research and finish your basic PSP hackers degree. Thank you for your attention.

Got it up and running on the good ol’ fat psp, but the slim is proving to be a different kettle of fish, with the “this game could not start: error code blah blah blah”. Gonna keep trying, but if someone has any luck, could they please let us know. I don’t feel like spending all night flogging a dead horse! :)

hi all ,the mame emu beleve it or not is the ultimate in emulation, but you have to give it time, mame on pc can currently run sega rally, daytona and other fully 3d games including ridge racer and tekken, its at version 0.120,psp mame is like 0.35 or something.

for the author to port a low version of mame and have it run the roms the way its doing just now is truly amazing,as the mame version becomes more stable and the entire version rom set is complete and working we can then expect the author to move up the mame version ladder and things will get exciting.

i recon when newer mame versions get looked into for psp you will see such games as outrun, super hangon, thunderblade, chace hq and other raster graphics based roms included as standard.be patient its only a matter of time and the author needs a big thankyou from us all,its great work and i can see this emulator doing great things in the near future.

2007-11-07 17:44:19

note, mame can be a little complicated with rom versions ,ill explain ….

say, mame version 0.25 the rom galaxian has been dumped to the pc for use with the emulator, then in a later version the coders find that the galaxian rom that was dumped wasnt properly dumped/hacked or has missing data, that game in the newer version of mame will get redumped.
as it gets redumped it may then have its file name changed to work as part of the new mame version.

the reason it may be renamed is ,mame is a large collection of different arcade boards that may have say 10 games/roms that run under the same board/hardware and for that (rom set) that gets updated in newer version, changes need to be made to the entire rom set that means older roms wont work under the new file system ans names.

another reason the roms get file name changes is that there are lots of roms in mame, like around 6000 and as the mame version changes, the name change keeps everyone right when they want to update, the older version of the entire rom collection, theres a program for mame that sorts all your old mame roms that are deemed incorrect and lets you know what the new rom should be.
its a hassle ,but in early mame version its much more easy to get the right roms and have then working.

I will pay money to whoever has the decency to explain to so many people, including myself, on how to recreate these roms. Out of ALL the mame threads that Ive looked at, only ONE person managed to explain how to do it. But guess what, the clrmamepro that he was explaining was not the latest version and the instructions didnt make much sense because of that. So PLEASE, will someone explain how to use the LATEST clrmamepro to recreate these f*cking roms. To the one who does this: you will not only have respect from me, but also the many people who have yet to get this wonderful emulator working.

This is a generic guide to using CLRmame Pro

1. Double click the file cmpro.exe (you will need to download this from the CLRmame Pro

site)
2. On profiler screen either choose Load/Update (if you already used your DAT file with

CLRmame Pro) or Add DatFile (If you haven’t used it before).
3. Once you are on the Main menus you will see several options firstly choose Settings.
4. Once in settings you will see a pulldown menu with several options. In reality you will

only really need Rom-Paths, ADD-Paths and SAMPLE-Path.
5. The first option you need to set is ROM-Paths, Set this Using the ADD button so that it

is pointing to your ROM-Path E.G. C:/MAME/ROMS (From Now on the Rom-Path will be refered to

as this).
6. Do the same for Samples pointing to Samples folder E.G. C:/MAME/SAMPLES (From Now on the

Sample-Path will be refered to as this).

7. Go back to the Main Menu And Choose Scanner, On this screen there is a lot of options

but really all you need is the options at the Left hand bottom side click the All Button

and all the options below will be Ticked. It should be noted that this will delete or

Rename/Resize roms as requested by the DATfile. You will get an option each time to Accept

or decline the Option. The reason for this is because MAME requires your roms to be set up

exactly to the DAT or they won’t run correctly.

8. Click on the Scan option and Choose accept all when it prompts you. You will find you

most likely won’t have all the ROMs it is looking for but don’t worry if you have each

games required set that game will run.

9. Once scanning is finished you will get a list of what is wrong with you Roms E.G How

many correct you have, How many Your missing, How many Samples you are missing ETC.

10. Next go Back To Main Menu and choose Rebuilder.

11. This option is what rebuilds your Roms into correct Set (Unlike Roms of Consoles Like

the DS or SNES, MAME Roms have more than one for each game because each individual Rom is

an image of the Original Rom chip inside the original Arcade Machine.)
12. First click the browse tab on the left for the source ROMS Folder E.G. C:/MAME/ROMS.
13. In Your C:/MAME/ Folder Make A folder called ROMSrebuilt.
14. Now Choose Destination on the Left Hand Side and select C:/MAME/ROMSrebuilt
15. In the middle of the screen you will see some options, Tick Compress Files and also

Tick Show Statistics. Untick Recompress Files (Tick this if you want to save some HD Space

but this will take a lot longer to finish the rebuild, sometimes as much as 6 Times Longer)
16. Now Click on advanced and make sure SKIP creation when file exists in ROM-Path is

Ticked.
17. When ready press Rebuild and go and make a cup of tea/coffee
18. When it is finished it will tell you how many files were rebuilt correctly. Click OK.
19. Delete you C:/MAME/ROMS Folder.
20. Rename C:/MAME/ROMSrebuilt to C:/MAME/ROMS
21. Go to main menu and choose Scanner and start the scan you should find that you don’t

need to confirm any changes as they are all OK.

22. Copy these roms to the relevant folder in PSP MAME and you should find they work

23. If you have more Roms you ned rebuilt make a folder in C:/MAME/ called New Roms and

place the here.
24. From the main menu go to Settings and choose ADD-Paths from the pull down menu and use

Add to Make C:/MAME/New Roms your Add path.
25 Go Back to Main Menu and choose Rebuilder, Tick on use ADD-Paths and Change Destination

so it reads C:/MAME/ROMS
26. Click rebuild and go make another Cup Of Tea/Coffee.
27. When finished click OK
28. From Main Menu Chhose Scanner Again and start another scan,
29. Each time you get new Roms repeat steps 25 to 28.

Hope This helps
