Comments (7)Asterz Build #5b Released
greg | November 30, 2007
Team Duck’s very own Slasher has released a new “Asterz” build. For whatever reason you may have missed earlier coverage, Asterz closely resembles the arcade classic known as Asteroids. The concept is simple: avoid and destroy everything!
Along with the newly revised build is a new video demonstrating Slasher’s particle engine. Definitely more appealing now…

Comments (4)Official PSP Firmware 3.73 Released
greg | November 29, 2007
Update: New for 3.73: Operation of the UMD™ drive has been improved to address cases in which the UMD™ drive occasionally suspends and fails to reload data. Updating the system software to version 3.73 will resolve this issue.
Sony has released PSP firmware 3.73 over at the official PlayStation Japan website. It appears only to be a minor update — stay tuned for more details surrounding that. No doubt 3.73 will be available worldwide very soon.
Furthermore, it’s reported _HellDashX_ has decrypted firmware 3.73 already, which doesn’t really surprise me. The known track record: Sony releases a new firmware; said firmware is decrypted hours or even minutes after its release; a day or two later a new custom firmware is available — if it’s worth it. So with that in mind, perhaps we’ll see one shortly.
Stay tuned!

Comments (14)DOSBox Build 0.71.26.11.2007.2 — Compatible w/ PSP Slim
greg | November 27, 2007
Been awhile since we’ve covered CrazyC’s DOSBox port for the PSP. Here is a new build compatible with custom firmware 3.xx and PSP Slims.
Uneducated users should know DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC with its own DOS-like command prompt. While lacking many features supported in MS-DOS, it is capable of installing and running most DOS games. Check out a full compatibility list here. Please note: you may encounter compatibility issues with certain disk images under this particular port.
CrazyC notes…
Here is a test build for 3.xx kernels. It’s completely untested other then I know it starts on my fat with the 3.52 kernel. It should work on the slim but at the moment, it doesn’t use the extra RAM.
Also, those bus error crashes a few pages back can be avoided by using dos32a, but GTA1 still doesn’t work because it runs out of memory.

Comments (20)Daedalus R14 — Updated N64 Emulator Progress
greg | November 27, 2007
At last — worthwhile news! StrmnNrmn sharing his latest progress report on the seemingly controversial Nintendo 64 Emulator, known as Daedalus. StrmnNrmn goes on to detail R14’s audio upsampling code, which is now working on the PSP’s Media Engine (ME). Another feature will be the new UI font rendering using BenHur’s recently released intraFont library. Check out the example below.

Discuss!
Try Daedalus R13 in the meantime.
Comments (172)Sony DTP-L1500 UMD Test Station on eBay
greg | November 24, 2007
Update: Sadly, Sony complained. eBay authorities pulled the auction. :(
Anyone interested in this? I’m a bit shocked to see it on eBay; nevertheless, very cool!

You know how eBay works. So bid on it and hope for the best!
For the record, we are no way affiliated with this particular auction. We recommend you use common sense, check the seller’s feedback, and ask him/her any questions you may have. We are not responsible if you get ripped off.

Comments (103)Duke Nukem 3D for the PSP
greg | November 23, 2007
This is news to me, and perhaps news to you… It was recently brought to my attention the ongoing Duke Nukem 3D port in development for Sony’s PlayStation Portable.
MrPeanut’s most recent release is build 97(hotfix). Also provided are tools to fix the voice pitch. No longer will Duke sound like a prepubescent child when throwing money at the strippers.
I’ve bundled the pitch fixer tools (Duke3DPSP_Pitchfixer_2.zip) in the same zip archive. Please read “READTHISNOW.TXT” to understand the patching procedure.

If you do not own the full version of Duke Nukem 3D, you may download the shareware release here. It’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum!
