PiMPStreamer 1.0 Released

greg | October 19, 2007

Following the release of DickyDick1969’s most recent PiMPStreamer beta is a new improved version — 1.0 (non beta).

Stream media content from Windows to your PSP in real time. The automatic installer packages both the Windows server and PSP client — everything you need to get started.

PiMPStreamer 1.0 Screenshot

PiMPStreamer 1.0 changes:

  • support for the new slim psp /3.xx firmwares/WPA
  • better streaming (so is reported)
  • fully graphical, fast scrolling, proportional fonts
  • not based on pmp_mod anymore
  • DNS lookups
  • started from scratch
  • better energy consumption (playing MP3)

It’s noted to use the old PMP_MOD based version if you are running firmware 1.50. Otherwise, 3.xx users, enjoy the fresh look. And who says you can’t teach an old hoe new tricks.

I recon u ppl only say ‘yayy first post!’ or sumin similar just to annoy ppl like me… and BTW to all the sadd ppl who does that, it’s usually relased an hour (MAX - usually) before it gets here.. so being ‘the first’ to post about it is usually quite incorrect

This version actually plays worse than the last beta, even under 802-11b only mode (router side). Anyone else have a similar experience?

lmao. what kind of router do you have ? DLINK >?

Hey, Ive actually got a linksys wrt54g running dd-wrt. Its weird, with the beta i could run full framerate with no skipping. The new version hangs about every 3 seconds, no changes other than the new app.

I used DLINK… and you know it’s quite good when it’s not trying to destroy itself.. see that’s the problem with DLINK, it breaks every other month, and so you have to piss off the company to send you a new one for free…

This is nice!
First time I’ve been able to get a pimp streamer to work for me.
I has crashed a couple times for me thought but well worth it and theres always the future updates and upgrades, keep up the good work.

I keep getting the error “Could Not read config.txt or no servers listed.” I have one created but not sure what all needs to be in it, can some list an example of what all goes in the file. Thanks

I had same problem….my solution….uninstall PMPStreamer entirely….reinstall…create file config.txt and place it in same folder as the eboot (for me this is the Game/PMPStreamer 1.00 folder) in that .txt folder paste this….
#PC servers where pimpstreamer is running
#DNS is supported

server1= 192.168.1.41:3333
server2= 192.168.1.12:3333

BUT! Replace either of those ip addresses with your own, followed by :3333

i have a 2gig mem stick, and a 1gig as backup. my problem is i want to play katamari every once in awhile, and that takes up 3/4 of the 2-gig card. i dont want to reload every time

iRshell is your answer. it combined with nethostfs will allow you to play iso’s off your computer hard drive over wifi.

Errmm no… so much for being a ‘Sony CEO’ :-> Your flash is probably corrupt or a plugin on your memory card.. take your card out and try to boot your PSP… and also you don’t have to flash anything to fuck your flash up, sometimes it corrupts itself

Amazing program must say i’d give it a 4/5, the only glitch it has is that mp4 videos [already converted] they seem to stream alot faster without hic ups,anything like .avi or .mpeg seems to have major hicups when it comes to streaming videos which have more light contrast and ones that move alot.Wonder if theres a way to stream videos faster, its tough, but amazingly, being able to watch HD .avi files on the psp was what really caught my attention.GJ

I keep getting the message “There Is a Problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.” when i try to install it. I’ve deleted it and redownloading it and tried it again and again and still the same message. Anyone know what this could be and how to fix it. …Thnx :D

Check your GAME folder settings. I had that issue, then I checked and my GAME folder was set to run in 150. I changed it to 352 and it worked fine.

For some reason, its only installing the 1.50 version on my PSP and it wont even load on 3.52 kernel, which I need it to because of my wifi WPA…

Using PSP Slim and latest firmware of 3.90 . When I run Pimpstreamer on the PSP I get error code 80020148.
Going to try the idea of reinstalling on my PC.
