iR Shell 3.7 Released
greg | October 3, 2007
One of the most popular homebrew shell replacements; if not, THE most popular, is now compatible with custom firmware 3.71 M33. I’m talking about AhMan’s iR Shell.
iR Shell 3.7 changes:
- Added support for M33 3.71 CFW for PSP Phat.
- Screen redirection via Tyranid’s remotejoy. UMD Game compatibility has also been enhanced and save/load dialog boxes will no longer crash. Thanks to Tyranid for making this possible.
- 2 Player PSOne games via usbhostfs/nethostfs keypad direction using 2 PC joysticks/keyboard. Screen redirection via remotejoy is also supported for PSone games.
- Support for M33 popsloader when iR Shell running under M33 3.52 CFW. Only the latest verion popsloader is supported (that is, the one for pops from 3.00 to 3.52). All other previous versions of popsloader won’t work with iR Shell. If you’re running iR Shell under M33 3.71, the “POP Version” setting in iR Configurator is ignored. This is due to popsloader currently doesn’t work with M33 3.71 due to changing NIDs by Sony.
- Support for M33 UMD Video ISO feature under iR Shell File Browser. This will also work with USBHostFS & NETHostFS. Again, for legally owned backups only.
- The number of iR Shell EBOOTs for various firmwares have been consolidated into just 2. One for firmware 1.5, and the other for firmware 2.x/3.x. This should make it earier for users.
- A new autoboot seplugin is introduced to replace the old “irsfw30x.prx”. This plugin will work under all firmware versions, including 3.71.
3.7 does not include 2 player PSX support over Ad Hoc yet… It’s still in alpha and remains unstable.

To reiterate what iR Shell is all about; I present to you — the feature highlights:
- A true multi-tasking shell which allows you to multi-task between a UMD game/homebrew/Backup ISO and any of the iR Shell built-in functions.
- Allow listening to any of your favorite mp3s while playing UMD games, Backups or homebrews. You can optionally mute the game specific audio channels while playing mp3s. For example, you may want to play your own mp3s and mute the in-game music, but leave the game sound effects intact.
- Display anything that iR Shell can launch on your PC Monitor with the help of RemoteJoy.
- With the built-in file browser, you can browse files on your Memory Stick, UMD Disc, your PC hard disks or DVDROM drives via USB or WiFi. You can even open files directly from these devices by a single click, such as viewing PMP Movies, Atrac3s, PMF movies, Backup ISOs, PS1 games, Text files, PDF files, Bitmap Photos, Jpegs, PNG photos, PBP PSP apps, ZIP & RAR archives.
- You can choose to install your PSP homebrew applications & files on your PC harddisk and access them via USB or WiFi on your PSP. This will eventually give your PSP unlimited storage access. With Infrastructure WiFi, you can access these homebrew
apps or files on your home PC via WiFi hotspots through Internet. - Ability to launch and multi-task with PS1 games which were launched from within iR Shell. PS1 game launching is also possible via USB and WiFi by using a Host File System.
- Backup UMD Video ISO support. You can launch Backup UMD Video ISOs straight from the filebrowser. A complete firmware dump of FW1.5 (including flash1) is required.
- A built-in Universal iR Remote supporting over 2000 devices.
- Allow transfer of files between 2 PSPs via adhoc WiFi.
- Adhoc WLAN connection to PC also possible
- Advanced file management functions which can be performed on a complete directory tree.
- Take snapshots/screenshots of any homebrews, UMD games, Backups, PS1 games, MP4 movies or UMD Movies. For MP4 movies or UMD Movies snapshot, you can use the ‘Launch XMB’ feature.
- Allow redirection of PSP keypad to PC Keyboard or PC Joystick via USB or WiFi. You can, for example, use a Xbox/Xbox360 gamepad with 2 analog sticks to control movement and aim in a FPS, like Syphon Filter. No more awkward control with PSP buttons for aiming.
- Allow the use of 4th brightness settings with homebrews & UMD games.
- CPU clock settings, ranging from 100MHz to 333MHz.
- Full support for firmwares 1.5, 2.71 with HenD, 2.71 SE-C, all 3.xx OE (except 3.30 OE) and M33 custom firmwares as well as support for 1.5/2.71 Emulation under Devhook with PSP Phat.

And now….port it to slim plz :) :)
woot! Nice AhMAN!
unless my mind is playing tricks on me, I remember a time when AhMan left the scene. Thanks for coming back and staying cool with more great code for the world’s homebrew scene to enjoy!
Thats pretty crazzy ^_^
PS1 over Wifi will be awesome.
dang still no psone multiplayer…but it’s coming soon keep up the great work
ppleeassee port for slim :D
Anyone have these files that can share?
7. Optional: If you wish to use the infrared feature of iR Shell you’ll need a decrypted
sircs.prx from fw3.52 because Sony has removed infra-red support from firmware 3.71.
Place the sircs.prx file under ms0:/IRSHELL/SYSTEM and you will be able to use infrared
remotes again. To make the most of the infrared feature you should download the
Pronto Hex Codes or supply your own RDF files. In order to use the Pronto Hex Codes
extract the prontocodes13.zip (available separately) archive to the root of your memory
stick and all necessary folders will be created for you.
I Have Try To Install This On 3.71 Original Frimeware , And Application Couldn’t Start, Did Any One Faced This Problem ?
the thing is that oficial firmware doesnt run hombrew. need to downgrade-upgrade . good luck
hey u need to put ir shell in the startup in seplugins and add to vsh.txt and enable it in recovery menu under plugins by holding r trigger while boot up
I am not going to lie, I have no idea what this does but I’m going to try it the description tells me it’s pretty useful so good job
Yes pleeease port to slim lol :)
i never understood how to get my ir shell 2 work so i dont give a f$%^ about it
IRShell is awesome…too bad my effin psp is bricked and no one around here has any other psp that i can use pandora onnn…:-(
one word comes to mind:brilliant
cant wait for psx ad-hoc to test my metal greyman against my little cousin.god im cruel.lmao
cool ^_^
Nice work! but most of the scene is looking at the slim now, any update or future on a release would shake the scene.
anyone know how to get hex codes for an olevia hd tv?
I also need the sircs.prx. the ir for remote dont work. anyone out who has this?
anyway great work AhMan!
Sorry guys, it can’t be ported to the slim. Well, not all of it, anyway. A big part of iR Shell is the iR remote function. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the iR port taken out of the slim? And secondly, Half of iR Shell runs in the 1.50 kernel. The slim does not support 1.50. Anyway, I’d gladly trade my fat PSP for a brand new slim, but I’m too poor. :(
It’s not like IR is hardwired to the entire program… It’s a very simple process to remove this, besides IR functions don’t even begin to describe all that IRShell can do. To the note about 1.50 support. I’m just hoping for a 3.71 kernel mode of IRShell working on the slim. I realize not everything will work, but I only ever used the 3.XX version even on my fat psp… :0. Also, just a side note, DAX seems like he’s actually working on cracking 1.50 for the slim. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I have a feeling that the slim will have 1.50 kernel sooner than we expect :)
the same thing goes to phat psp. it also needs the sics.prx to use the IR remote. :(
wheres can you get sics.prx
i sound like a damn foreigner..haha
TO GE SICS.PRX:
1) Downgrade your FAT psp to 3.52 M33.
2) Boot into recovery mode
3) Transfer the sics.prx file from your flash to your computer
4) Move the file to the folder IRShell looks for it in.
im on 3.52 m33 4 is that ok?
oh.. one more thing.. how do i boot from recovery.. you mean when i hold down r botton down?
is it worth updating right now to 3.71 or can i just add this to 3.52 m33 4. should i wait to update.. sound like its still got a lot of stuff thay need to work out.
IRShell brick my PSP with my 3.71 M33-2 yesterday…
I was playing a game with an USBHostFS connection… Suddenly, the game freeze, and my PSP was bricking. Luckily I was able to get it back with Pandora… Now, I really worry and afraid to use any USB connection… I will just use it as regular PSP…
I’m having a problem with IR Shell and 3.71 M33-2. I’ve copied all files correctly to the psp’s mem stick. Enabled the ir shell under recovery. Exit recovery and all it does is reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot. It acts like it wants to boot into IRShell but it does not. It just reboots, reboots, reboots, reboots, reboots, reboots, reboots, reboots. Is there something I can do to make this STOP REBOOTING?
I’ve also tried moving the files. From one folder to another, and that didn’t work either. I’ve also tried executing it under xmb, and that didn’t work. My Auto start UMB is off. No other plugins are enabled. I’ve tried enabling/disabling all that can be done and still nothing. I’ve done all I can do.
hey has any one had a problem going back to XBM from IR-shell when i try. it locks my psp up please advise pep’s thanks
are thay gona make a new ir shell with sircs.prx ?? im on 3.71 m33 2 i dont wanto downgrade back to 3.52 its to much.. pluss i dont konw how.hahahaha
