Two updates from the D man himself…
3.71 M33 Update #2:
- There was a bug that caused corruption when writing files of more than 32256 bytes using usb flash. The bug has been corrected, and now the implementation is as reliable as it was when it was based on 1.50 kernel. (tested with a full restoration of a dump)
- Psp Slim: a functionality to let the charge of battery when connecting a usb cable has been added. This feature is based on Noobz plugin code. By default is not enabled, you can enable it in recovery. Note that the charge of battery may be delayed some seconds since the moment you plug the cable.
- After installing this update, program at /PSP/GAME/UPDATE will always be executed on 3.71 kernel, despite configuration.
- VSHMenu: vshmenu will not be executed when onscreen keyboard is active, to avoid the lost of the select button function in the keyboard. An option to reset the psp has been added.
- VSH plugins are not longer executed anymore in recovery mode, that was the cause of pseudo-bricks.
Two bugs remain: the WLAN network error, and the PSP Slim psx game change of brightness. Dark_AleX notes, “These two bugs are copyright of Sony :) happens too in OFW.”
1.50 Kernel Addon #2:
- When returning from sleep mode, 3.71 ipl was executed causing an inmediate crash. Fixed.

Redownload, zip files sometimes download incorectly. It did the same thing first time I downloaded, retried and worked perfect. Thank you Dax for this update, and I personaly appreciate your efforts. Just updated to 3.71 M33-2 and installed the 1.50 kernel addon 2 and my UMDs aren’t working anymore. After the PSP screen it goes to a black screen and after a few seconds it turns my PSP off. Same thing happens with ISOs / CSOs. Is this happening to anyone else?
try changing the UMD drivers. maybe they were reset.

I cycled through each UMD mode trying each one and the same thing happens. :-/

My plugins? Disabling them all now and trying again.
Disabled all my plugins and that works. Thanks. :) Too lazy atm to go through each one to pinpoint which one(s) specifically caused my issue.
The plugin that caused all this is music.prx.

How bout a patch/reverse devhook/somethin? Probably being worked on, but kept secret to keep people from whining that it’s not being done fast enough. Try the Eloader for now. Most 1.5 emus and homebrew load on my Slim with Eloader. (remember they made it for 2.71, not 1.5 as you don’t need an Eloader for 1.5) So try that for now…
Anyone have the issue of the game boot starting then the psp shutting off. I am unable to apply any of these updates…

So I have spent the last hour downgrading from 3.71 M33 because my homebrew did not work with the ad-on… when I got to 3.52 M33 4 I was crashing… Now that I am one more step to get back to my original 3.52 M33 2… He releases an update? WTF? I’m tired of this.. I’m staying at 3.53 M33 2 until I really see a difference….. GOD

When i browsed games on my stick, it was like stuttering, and showing slow framerates(on XMB). Is this fixed? Cause, im back on 3.40OEA because of this…its anoying, at least for me.

just updated to 3.71 m33-2.but when tried to update the kernel andon 2, says incorrect or inexistant.i had already installed the kernel andon 1, with andon 2 i put the update folder in psp/game. but does not worked, any suggestion, thanks for your time

u need to put the 1.50 update into the root of ur psp (150.PBP)
and set the “game folder homebrew” to kernel3xx
(in recovery)

I don’t have any problems with the 1st 1.50 add-on, all my psx’s and emu’s work fine with no problem, and i have better loading times with my games and faster FPS with my emu’s. maybe its cuz i have a ta-82 MB not sure but all my firends who have a ta-79/80 MB are not as quik in loading then mine. Im not sure, but imma hold off on this add-on untill i see a crash or shutdown or something, thanks again D_A

Im sorry but the only people who HATE CFW are PEOPLE who don’t know what the hell their doing as far as downgrading, and upgarding. Any Sony has it coming to them, the screwed me over when just after 8 months my ps3 broke due to the power supply, Sony has great ideas to try a make it back and beat up the DS with its cool feature, But after 2 years, they say NO to CFW, Stup Ass’s

like braindead said, you put the update folder in the psp/game folder, then you need to get the 1.5 update eboot, rename it “150.PBP” and put it on the root of your memory stick, just run the program and thats it, remember that the hombrew folder in the recovery has to be in 3.71 kernel. ok good luck.
i did the same on the first 1.50 add-on, there was no problem, but for add-on 2,i cant update it, i hv put update eboot 1.5 and rename it 150.PBP, put it on the root. anyway thx. ^^
try getting a new 1.5 eboot, i was having the same problem, so i got another 1.5 eboot and worked fine.

I also had to go back to 3.52 M33-2, as I could no longer use irshell. I think the issue of the leak has caused this, as the problem was with the prx not loading. So hopefully an update in either the CFW or in irshell will mean I can take advantage of this version in the future. Until then, I’m sticking with 3.52 M33-2

I’m glad the USB flash is fixed. Now I can finally put custom 3.71 RCO’s on my psp slim.
installed fine on UK fat Black psp. Trying on Fat Jap Pink PSP and cant install 3.71m33 originally patched the keys so prog run but when it uses the official FW it crashes + error cant run game contact someone for help. Reboot PSP then BRICK.. I have pandoras batt so im ok. I have tried re downloading many a time and tring again and again but still same prob. any ideas?
BTW it is a Ta 086 Mobo

You can’t install the fw 1.5 patch on slim cause it won’t suport it.

and can u tell me please what is the root?? like in “ms root”. what does it mean?

to much confusion. Okay I’ll I want to know is should I upgrade to this custom firmware or wait untill games require it. And if I do install this can I downgrade back to 1.50 without pandora’s battery
You can upgrade, but the 1.50 kernel update disables some features of the 3.71 firmware. You can downgrade to 1.50 from 3.71 M33-1 or 2 by using this link http://dl.qj.net/General-Apps/pg/12/fid/14678/catid/151 and use in 3.71 GAME folder

The error in question is one that occurs even in OFW 3.71. It’s Sony that’s in the wrong there, and those files are copyrighted to them.

Yes you can, you need a JigKick battery or a 1.50 OFW or CFW PSP to make one. There are plenty of how to’s on how to do this. Then use the Despertar del Cementerio v3 from Dark_AleX http://www.dark-alex.org. the just follow the readme.

complete power off isn’t working. used pandora to 1.50, used 3.50 m33 update, used 3.50 m33 #3, used 3.71 m33 update, used 3.71 m33 #2. It will only sleep, instead of power off.
Hi, upgraded to 3.71-2/1.50-2, and now due to various issues I am haveing with it, want to go back to 3.52-4. With 3.71-2, all recovery’s are done in 3.71 kernel mode, and I assume that is why I can’t get any of them to work (even some that claim to downgrade 3.71).
Is there a way to do this without pandora?

Hello people, i am a total ewbie to this but am willing to learn, a friend installed firmware 3.40 OE-A onto my fat psp, i would like to now the procedure to update my firmware to the latest custom one (3.71 M33) do i need to downgrade to 1.50 before applying 3.71 etc etc and stuff like that, any help would be most appreciated, thanks people, BASEY
If you’re already on 3.40oe then you can just download the update and throw it into your game folder and run the update via the xmb.
