Sony’s Official Theme Creator/Converter for Firmware 3.71

greg | October 1, 2007

Update: zmcnulty of psp-vault.com was kind enough to translate the Japanese PDF; re-download the package below for English instructions.

Thanks otakuman706

Confirmed working on 3.71 M33, and non-hacked 3.71 firmwares, is Sony’s official “Custom Theme Converter.” They must have recognized custom XMB theming is huge amongst the PSP homebrew community, and decided to take it upon themselves to bring forward.

Unfortunately if you’re an English-only reader/writer, you may have some difficulties following the Japanese-only instructions. The Windows app itself is English, and straight forward, so you shouldn’t be too confused.

Thanks to Adam E for the tip.

I’ll personally wait until they release something in their US site… those errors that you’re pointing here might be related to the area, like the different kind of savegames between regions

lol Sony are slowly giving us what we want.. lol greg this has been out for days.. but you are a busy man i suppose Greg.. at least you do bother posting it.. ;) thanks sony for making it and Greg for telling everyoe else who knew jack shit about it…

No, Sony is giving you what THEY want. Remember, they locked homebrew coders out of being able to create their own custom themes, all so that Sony can get its own way. In essence, Sony STOLE the custom theme idea from the homebrew scene and by locking them out, told them to fuck off.

Realize when you have been taken advantage of.

HELLOOO,the app. is for make a full theme into a single file called .ptf and you apply the theme from the xmb so you dont mess with the psp flash and ending with a bricked psp

I personally use “XMB Theme Manager” on my fat 3.52 M33 4 cfw. At the moment, it is the way to go as far as I am concerned. It has a plug in enabled in Recovery Mode that reads your XMB theme from a folder that you place in your Root memory card folder. No messing with Flash:0 at all!

you need two programs: paint.net and irfanview. MAIN ICONS:64×48,32bit, PNG. resize image in paint.net. then open image in irfanview then go to Image>decrease color dept>256>ok. then save as PNG. there you go! your preview pic (bmp) MUST BE 300×170!!! noone help me i kinda had to figure out on my own, because NOONE wanted to tell how to, and i couldnt open the PDF file :P
