Play Manhunt 2 — Uncensored! *Updated*
greg | October 31, 2007
Update: An auto patcher has been released by cracker. Download it below.
Update: In your face, ESRB! More uncensored fun… This comes from blueboi698.
You notice how each time he strikes someone in an execution it flashes black? There’s a way to take that out too. Cause it’s kinda annoying when it gets dark as you strike the victim.
Here’s the string of code that they say you’re supposed to delete:
# —————————————————————————-
# [GK] execution colour ramp options: flash fadein (sec), flash duration (sec), flash fadeout time (sec)
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_TEXTURE FE_execramps
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FLASH_TIMES 0.25, 0.6, 0.3
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FADE_TIME 5.0Instead of just deleting it you delete the “FE_execrapms” after “EXECUTION_COLRAMP_TEXTURE” and change the “0.25″ after “EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FLASH_TIMES” to 200 and just save that as the text file and then replace the files like normal and save it and there ya go, executions without the blur AND the black flashes.
Update: For the non-believers out there…
Enjoy playing Manhunt 2 — execute, slaughter, and kill — the way it was intended to be! Tutorial courtesy of DepheCt.
Requirements:
- UMDGen 4.00
- Manhunt 2 ISO/CSO (find that or rip it yourself)
- A simple text editor
Now… Open up UMDGen and drag and drop the ISO/CSO into the main window of UMDGen… You should see a Manhunt 2 icon in the top right of UMDGen.
Next, you should see some some folders in the main window of the program. Double click “PSP_GAME” then you will get more folders. Double click on USRDIR and then GLOBAL.
Once inside the Global folder, you should see a couple folders and and some files. We are only going to be touching one of these files from GLOBAL. Find a text file named LVLSETUP.INI and right click it hit extract selected and place it on your desktop. Now with the LVLSETUP.INI you extracted, open it with a notepad.
Inside the notepade look for this string…# —————————————————————————-
# [GK] execution colour ramp options: flash fadein (sec), flash duration (sec), flash fadeout time (sec)
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_TEXTURE FE_execramps
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FLASH_TIMES 0.25, 0.6, 0.3
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FADE_TIME 5.0Delete all of it, and save the notepad. Go back to the open window of UMDgen and delete the Orginal LVLSETUP.INI and drag and drop the edited one you just created into that directory.
Now, we are going to go to another section of folders.
On the right side of UMDGen you should see the directorys of the game, click on USRDIR again and the main window will pop up with some new folders. The one we are going to be going into this time is LEVELS. Double click it.
Once inside the levels folder you should see 16 folders. A01 – A18.
Open the folder A01_ES.
Inside the A01_ES folder you are going to look for a file called GLVLSET.INI.
Same as before, extract it to the desktop and open it.
We are going to be looking for the same string…# —————————————————————————-
# [GK] execution colour ramp options: flash fadein (sec), flash duration (sec), flash fadeout time (sec)
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_TEXTURE FE_execramps
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FLASH_TIMES 0.25, 0.6, 0.3
EXECUTION_COLRAMP_FADE_TIME 5.0Delete it, and save the text file.
Delete the Orginal one inside UMDGen and drag and drop the one you just edited into UMDGen.You need to repeat this step for every folder inside the LEVELS directory. So basicly you need to go thru A01_ES all the way to the last folder A18_MA and edit every one of those GLVLSET.INI files the same way you have been.
Once that is all completed (yeah I know its a pain …) hit the “Save” icon on UMDGen and select the method you wish to save it as. ISO/CSO/DAX, It shouldnt effect the process of what we just did.
Once UMDGen is done compressing and what not, Thats it. Take your modded game and upload it to your psp and play, enjoy your uncensored kills… the way Manhunt was meant to be enjoyed.
Awesome!

Comments (9)PSP Firmware 3.72 Released
greg | October 30, 2007
Update: Oops, forgot to add the download link… Grab it below.
Update: KahnArtizt has confirmed (in the comments) 3.72’s availability via Network Update. I wouldn’t recommend installing it though; by the looks of things, it’s nothing worthwhile.
It would seem Sony has officially released PSP firmware 3.72. Per the moment 3.72 is reportedly available for only Japanese hand helds. I’m unable to confirm whether or not it’s downloadable via Network Update; my PSP is currently at home, and well, I’m not there. Of course the North American side of things remain behind on the update. Check back soon for more details.

Comments (83)Doom v1.1 for the PSP *Updated*
greg | October 29, 2007
Update: PSP Doom v1.1 is now available –
Fixed problem with strafing and turning at the same time. Big cleanup of the controller handling code in general. Added ability to disable the analog stick and to calibrate it. Added two forms of cheats. If there is no default settings file, or if the default doesn’t specify the main WAD file, it now tries to set the main WAD to the shareware WAD (idiot compensator).
Chilly Willy has released his own PSP port of Doom, which is based on ADoomPPC v1.7 by Jarmo Laakkonen. ADoom is a port of ID Software’s Linux DOOM and it runs beautifully. But who am I kidding, you know what Doom is all about. Unfortunately, per the moment, this version does not include networking support.
Doom for PSP requires a PSP with 3.xx custom firmware. For use with a TV, you need a PSP Slim with a composite or component AV cable.
Doom for the PSP requires a WAD file compatible with DOOM for the PC or Macintosh; Hastings is selling a compilation of The Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II, and Final DOOM for around $20 (US); get it. Only wimps use the shareware wad file. Despite the last sentence, the shareware WAD file is included so that you can play DOOM on your PSP right away.
Yeah, so don’t be a pussy — do what Chilly Willy says!

Perhaps we should go into production with a reality show — will you be the next great PSP homebrew developer?
The supplied package is intended for Windows and aims to avoid the hassle of installing cygwin, compiling the toolchain, etc…
The source code for PSPWrite is given as an example — both a Linux and PSP version. Other examples also included.
Due to the nature of this package, we won’t be hosting it.
Thanks ZX!

Check back soon for future releases.

Comments (6)RCO Editor v1.15c Released
greg | October 28, 2007
PSP theming has sure come along way, and we can thank ZiNgA BuRgA for providing the necessary customization tools allowing various aspects of the XMB to be personalized. RCO Editor enables easy manipulation of localized resources (*.rco files) — icons, sounds, text, etc… Basically anything & everything that makes the XMB what it is.
Changes in 1.15c:
- Fixed another bug in GIM conversion routine
Changes in 1.15b:
- Fixed a bug in the decompression and GIM conversion routine
Changes in 1.15:
- Rewrote GIM < -> BMP conversion routine
- Dimension restrictions removed, as well as the “visible dimension” nonsense (RCO Editor automatically fixes that)
- osk_utility.rco icons no longer cause crashes
- Support for creating 4 bit and 32 bit GIMs (previously, only 8 bit supported) – effectively removing the 256 colour restriction
- You can now use ICO, PNG and GIF files as inputs, in addition to 4 bit BMPs
- Other minor changes and bug fixes
- Added option to disable compressing resources – this is for some 3.7x RCOs not working properly with compression enabled
