And another one’s gone, and another one’s gone. Another one bites the dust. Well, not so much, I just wanted to quote some Queen lyrics. Although, it does appear Team M33 is taking a little hiatus, according to their most recent site update…
After a hard discussion between every member of M33 (3 votes against 2), we have decided to take a little break before releasing anything else. (Take it as the russian winter that might come even when there is sun in front of us)
The main reasons for this decision are as follow:
First, looking at how have things have come since we started our work, we now know how might have felt other developers when there are much other interests that don’t benefit to the entire Scene. We all know what we are talking about, and we will make our best to eradicate all of this rotted side of the world in which we are nowadays, in the near future.
Second, to teach a lesson. A mayor percentage of the PSP (and others) Scene(s) has to think about what it has come into since there are lots and lots of people that just want to steal money and attention when they don’t even deserve it. This has existed since the beginning, and this is, clearly, to that hackers-wannabe that modify a couple of files and want to be acclaimed as a God-like.
And third, to have fun looking at how all this lamers that steal codes don’t know what to do when there is no binaries or sources to modify ;-) Ok, that last one was kidding a bit… but that doesn’t mean that it’s not right :-P
…I’m glad these dudes still keep their sense of humour after all the wanksters perpetrating the scene.
By now you’re most likely wondering, “omg, omg, omg… what about custom firmware 3.71-M33?!” They complete their letter of absence by stating 3.71-M33 *is* finished and will be released upon their return. So, sit tight, chill with the flaming, and enjoy everything these talented Russians have brought us up to this point.

Team M33 are amazing…they have integrity, they always speak honestly and are very hard and accomplished workers…they deserve to take a much needed break. There’s nothing huge between FW 3.60 and 3.71 anyways other than having the most current FW available. I’m looking forward to more slim compatable emulators. Great job thus far team M33, enjoy your break and we look forward to seeing your return!

Why release 3.71 M-33 on their return? By that time, it will probably be obsolete. And besides, there are a bunch of custom-firmware-hungry people that have been waiting a while for this. It just seems a bit illogical to me.
That’s possible.
But perhaps this is a good thing in the end. Sony is trying hard to step up security wise and fails every time. If no-one releases a custom firmware based on their latest firmware, perhaps they might actually develop something new and usefull for the psp.
In the end, I’m sure they have their reasons for the short hiatus.

@wtfs - Just cause there’ll be a new firmware out (unlikely) by then, doesn’t mean this one won’t work. no games will come out for a while that’ll be forced to use 3.71.
But i’d like to ask… I bought Daxter from sears yesterday, and it may be the greatest hits… So, if it requires 3.6 or .71, will I be able to use a version changer the that, as it was designed for 2.6, or do I just gotta wait?

m33 firmware is completely seperate from sony’s firmware. In fact, no source comes from sony firmware(you must provide the 3.51/1.5 update eboots). They were ‘whining’ about people stealing the code the wrote that dual boots the firmwares. Dax supplied his source for his origional firmware specifically for groups like m33.

And all the idiots screaming bullshit where the first in line to jump on the banwagon when they put out the first of the new CFW. Without you guys around, no one here would be downloading, or making this PSP-hacks popular, or making Sony PSP the ultimate handheld device gaming experience.
M33 has taken over the role of DAX…we’ll see what happens in the meantime, but I doubt there is anyone on the scene right now as talented as M33. How long was the Slim even out before they had CFW for it? I’m guessing we won’t see any new CFW until they come back, depending on how long they wait, of course. Eventually, someone will be able to accomplish the same thing, but if you have any doubt that they are telling the truth about finishing 3.71 M33, then you’re either an idiot or haven’t been paying attention.

I’ve said it before and will say it again, M33 basically stole DAX’s code the hard way by reversing it, yet DAX didn’t All their work is just modified versions of DAX’s OE FW alongside OFW updates and fixes.
They think it is OK for themselves to reverse DAX’s OE firmware and steal his code and use it as their own while they think their code is precious. M33 think we owe them for their work, but we don’t. They chose to develop CF so tough shit. DA didn’t bitch half as much as these ‘tards are and most importantly DAX wasn’t greedy enough to setup a PayPal donation.
