Normal XMB Boot Loader For Pandora’s Battery

greg | September 12, 2007

BOOSTER returns with a handy tool for anyone who has converted a PSP battery to Pandora’s wonderful world. This tool will copy an IPL to a memory stick pro duo — no, 32MB sticks won’t work. When the stick is inserted with a Pandora-style battery, you will always have a functioning / bootable XMB — it boots the PSP as “normal.” Nifty!

See readme.txt for instructions.

BACK UP YOUR MEMORY STICK BEFORE YOU DO THIS!
It may corrupt your MS, like it did mine after Un-Pandora-izing(?) my battery. Luckily, I did back it up first.

You probably did not read the instructions correct and put it on the Magic Stick didn’t you?

Man it seems like the 32mb chip is completely useless. what a waste.

so does this mean that you wont have to buy a spare battery??

Comment by frank

Never did need a spare battery, battery can be turned into Pandora and also back to normal. Now with this app, you can keep it in pandora mode. Just need a spare memory stick.. Do not mix this ap with Magic stick.

And if I want to use the pandora battery, is there any way I can access it through an app?

If you want to use the battery as an unbricker/downgrader, use the Magic MS, if you want to use the battery as a normal battery, use this app on a seperate MS. And, yes, if you MS is a PRO DUO, it will work. READ PPL READ!

I heard that there were previous reports of some problems with restarting a PSP (coldboot) if this battery is being used? Are those false or has the problem been cleared up? o_O

I never had this problem.. Without this app, you normally had to start your PSP without pandora battery, with ac adapter, load the Pandora software, put the pandora battery in, and switch it back to Normal.

Tried it, works like a charm. Like gregerson said, works on any PRO DUO stick, Do not put it on the Magic MS. I converted both my battery to pandora, and keep magic stick separate, and used this app on my 2Gb pro duo stick, and I dont need to switch my pandora battery’s back to normal.

To me, this does seem kinda useless… but then again, id only use Pandora for downgrading an upgrading. Worth it to have 2 batteries

This seems neat. :D Only downside that I’ve heard was that you can’t use the PSP Sleep mode? I guess this is when you turn the power off, and if you turn the PSP back on, you’re exactly where you left off.

Any confirmation on this? :o

Sleep mode will not work the psp will restart when you exit it. So instead of sleep mode I use hold+ 3.5

Thanks for our amazing work, but something to mention, using the Pandora battery as normal battery without convert it back to normal that will prevent the battery from get charged, remember the 3rdpin from LT is used for programming the battery, the Micro-ch_Cap will not be triggered, however I am working on a small hardware MOD to the battery to make it switching to normal but will need a support from CFW technical wizards to include it in the recovery mode or to great a plug-in module …. so far I got it successfully working on my 2 PSP and soon will release in on a video on YouTube.. anyway it is very easy to follow the video.

Originally I got the idea from someone post an article at http://www.psp.skypz.com

Thanks everyone

i dont know if any one have notice that u dont really need this, u could still use the pandora battery as a normal one. just connect your PSP to the charger WITH NO BATTERY and then just insert the Pandora battery and remove the charger. your psp will be using the battery as a normal one. (although this a good release, helps u when u dont have a charger at your disposal.
