Extended Pandora Boot Menu (EPBM) v0.8 Released

greg | September 12, 2007

Hellcat enters the scene swinging his magic stick. Uh… Hrm…

Anyway, while we’re on the topic of Pandora’s Battery, here is another interesting extension to Team C+D’s almighty unbricking solution. Once you have a fully functional Pandora Battery setup with bootable memory stick, follow the installation guide contained within README.TXT. Shortly thereafter — thanks to the skilled up & coming developer — you’ll have access to new functions and abilities.

Key features:

  • Choose to boot firmware from memory stick, internal flash or the original Pandora main menu
  • Fix flash1:/ (the one holding the settings and config) by formatting it and creating all directories
  • Launch an additional application (PSPFiler or such) with working access to the real flash0:/
  • Launch custom firmware installer (OE / M33) with working flash0:/ access, so it can install the CFW straight from a Pandora boot without the need to downgrade to 1.50 first, no matter of the current state (and version) of the internal flash.
  • Access flash0:/, flash1:/ or memory stick via USB (straight from the menu)

If you can hit once, you can hit twice. Kudos, Hellcat.

Instructions are not clear enough for me, do you have to do all that editing or simply copy files over to MS? If all that editing is the way to do it, then forget it, wait for an easy installer updater!!!

I’m still amazed as to how far we’ve come with all this…to think that only a few months back, I was flipping out over having too high a firmware - to the point where I took advantage of my return policy and went through three psps before I found one with the right firmware lol!

Basically, Pandora_IS_the best app out there, certainly a must have, and Kudos to everyone involved!

Next, we need to perform a few file edits:
Open “/kd/pspbtcnf.txt” in a text editor.
Find the following line:

/kd/registry.prx

after it, add this:

# *** pandora module ***
/kd/decryptprx.prx
# *** /pandora module ***

Now find this line:

/kd/vshbridge.prx

BUT WHY I CANT THE /kd/vshbridge.prx IN THE TEXT? ANY IDEA?

I’m not really familiar with pandora’s battery, just wondering though, does it ruin your battery or memory card or something? Reason i ask is just when they specifically say “your pandora battery” i’m just wondering if it will make it unable to be used again or in a normal function?

no dude…you can return a pandora battery back to normal…just give the readme a quick view…i don’t know about the mem stick tho…i bought a 256mb to do this but i’m afraid to format it lol! anyways…this boot menu is awesome! thanks so much.

So what a person that has a 3.70 Firmware is to brick is PSP and install M33 firmware straight from pandoras batterie?

There’s an eboot released that will install all this by just a press of a button on dcemu forums…

Can’t find the link, since I lost track of it, but it’s simple.

Put this eboot in /psp/game150/pandoraextender/eboot.pbp

of course, once you have working pandora and your 1.50 update.pbp

and it will all install magicly.

I love how I can just install CFW from this and don’t have to install 1.5 first.

i’ve been really trying to find that over there, but i can’t! I did everything to install the extender manually, but it just gives me the “reset settings” blue-screen-of-death when i use the stick with the battery (i verified that the stick works when the original pandora files are put back)

If anyone wants the EPM “package” just holler and i’ll email or upload it somewhere (it’s all generic except for the CFWUPDATE folder which is of your choosing anyway. works GREAT after realizing that wifi should be turned off. Oh, and I have come across the broken config.se error. If you get a looping blue-screen-of-death after using epm to install directly a new custom firmware, just go to recovery, activate flash 0 and delete config.se there. you’ll be asked one final time by the blue screen to redo your settings, then all shall be well :) though i don’t know that this is a common problem (i’m using a TA-082, wonder if that was in issue with that little problem…

Again, I’m happy to share my compiled epm folders for direct copying onto an already pandora enabled memory stick, if this sorta sharing is appropriate :)

VIVA LA PSP!!

Here is is! Just copy all the folders onto your psp, making sure to overwrite all your folders you have already (not including any extra folders you have in the GAME folder):

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0ZXLE336

I’ve prepared the special CFWUPDATE folder, although it doesn’t include any actual CFW in it :P.
Remember to turn the wifi switch to the off position when using this. Oh, and of course, make sure you have the memory stick already ipl patched and logically formatted, as per normal pandora battery install instructions :)

I downloaded your epm package and installed it.. Im a TA082 user too.. Im on CFW 3.52 M33-4. I try to load firmware from memory stick.. it works fine.. but i try to load firmware from Flash0, I manage to go to XMB with black screen on my LCD. I try hitting the Brightness button but nothing’s work. I only can hear the sound. Any idea where went wrong?

I am having the same issue as well on two other ta-082s (one without patched/corrupt keys). I have tried other CFWs and still I get sound that the XMB is running, just no display.

the loading from flash is still flawed (or was that reading from stick?). if you’re already on cfw, why do you need the pandora boot, or did you use pandora to “upgrade” to it? I tend to stay away from the “emulated” firmware from pandora’s menu. i only really use the epbm to directly upgrade to cfw, instead of downgrading first :P. I followed the directions exactly and the menu loads, if anyone finds an error who has compiled the epbm themselves, let me know, perhaps that’s why the firmware isn’t running from the flash… but like i said, i dont’ use that feature. i’m glad you were able to download it and (i’m guessing) use it to upgrade to 3.52 m33 :) I tested it myself, reflashing my brand new perfectly fine 3.52m33 psp, just so you know there was a bit of sacrifice and testing going into compiling the epbm.

I installed the pack from the link above. When I try to run the firmware from the memory stick it just goes into the BSOD loop, it also does somthing to the memory stick that stops the Extended menu from loading. You have to reformat the stick and re-install everything. I think it’s looking for the config.se file on the memory stick, but I don’t know where to install it.
