PSPeech — Talk with your PSP (Proof of Concept)
greg | September 8, 2007
Update: Upon further inspection, this appears to simply play an MP3, and that’s it. Without a mic I cannot confirm whether or not the MP3 is triggered when the attached mic picks up your voice. Can anyone else, with a mic, confirm?
Many cell phones use it (for dialing and such), so why not the PlayStation Portable? Although it’s not a phone, let me introduce you to PSPeech — speech recognition for the PSP from developer Noob2PsP! Simply a proof-of-concept release for the time being; however, it definitely demonstrates true potential. Talk with your PSP using the Talkman Microphone, Socom Headset, Chotto Shot Cam, or any self-made mic/headset.
Imagine the possibilities… A custom firmware PRX used for interacting with & executing said PSP functions, i.e.) saying “Internet” — the browser launches. “Game” could start whatever UMD. Even a voice recognition PSP system lock could be implemented. Maybe I’m jumping the gun, but you get the general idea. Very cool nonetheless!

This is what I was waiting for. Thank you all the involved devs.
Great innovation. An admirable contribution. Do i for see web browsing on the psp sucking less in the near future?
yeah
cool thing
for all u lazy pple who cant push buttons
haha
jk
but yeah
woldnt mind tryn it
this just plays an mp3….
it does NOTHING whatsoever.
P.O.C?
Piece Of Crap?
Although this plugin isn’t crap maybe those letters shouldn’t really be used. They make it sound like it sucks. Lol
LOL nice one XD
erm… did that make sense to you?
yh it did to me.. but that isn’t funny.. and P.O.C ALWAYS stands fro Proof Of Concept.. why would it differ??
lame joke is lame ¯\(o_°)/¯
It’ll be interesting to see what this will develop into. Good job and thanks guys.
This is a fucking single song mp3 player, mine plays rob zombie.
hahaha wow what will will we rollout next i didnt think this could be possible but so be it im not complaining
theres a built in mp3 player in the xmb, how would it not be possible O.o
Well if you’re looking to try to improve your coding skills and have decided to release an mp3 player calling it a p.o.c. speech program (it doesnt prove the concept by the way) i suggest in your next release you include a coded way to switch songs, perhapse a way to specify a directory via small browser, some nicer colors, perhaps on-screen visualizer and volume controls. this may yet become a nice mp3 player! good luck in the future, sir!
lol Ferris.. :P good work anyway.. :P
I think there was a Japanise program about 4 or 5 years ago that did that. I think it was a translator
for the psp? there was no PSP 4 or 5 years ago…
There is a UMD that does that. It is for teaching English to Japanise kids.
this is lame. why would you want a voice activated command to launch your browser or a UMD? worthless!
when is someone going to work on a SIP adapter for VoIP on the PSP? much more widespread use of the mic
huh? Is that even possible
Well if this program is a POC than yeah it should be…
and n00ber, i see where you are coming from, but lets just say you are listening to your music and you say ‘next track’ then that could be useful.. otherwise i dont see much point at all..
if i’m listening to music with the psp in my backpack or something then yea, that would be nice….but if im listening to it somewhere where it would be in my pack, then i’m probably not going to be wearing a goofy headset with a mic while listening to music…i’m just going to hit the key to skip to the next track or deal with the playlist :)
HEY GREG WY DON’T YOU REPORT MORE ON THIS GUY NOOB2PSP???
you could always say ‘NEXT TRACK’ to your finger then use the same finger to press the goddam button, lazy fucks! lol
you could always say ‘NEXT TRACK’ to your finger then use the same finger to press the goddam button, lazy fucks! lol
thats what im talkin about!
its tru!
oops sorry for double post must have said your comment twice to my finger lol
You are all looking beyond the point at hand. Is there any evidance that it incorperates voice functions at all? I still see it as an mp3 player…
i downloaded PSPeech it tells me game cannot be started (8002014C)
