PSP Slim NAND Memory Dumped

Together two very respected scene names, Mathieulh and Dark_AleX (who remains in retirement, by the way), have dumped the PSP Slim’s NAND memory. It would appear the idstorage area is fully encrypted now, and the NAND memory capacity has doubled, bringing it to 64MB + an extra 2MB for spare data, checksums/ECC, etc… At least we have more room to play with now. ;)

No public release of the NAND dumper, yet. And don’t count on Mathieulh and/or Dark_AleX for theirs — it was achieved for their own educational purposes; just to show it’s possible. It wouldn’t serve the average Joe much use anyway. No doubt we’ll see more soon.

well, since they dumped the NAND, if they posted the contents somewhere you could flash it over to your non-slim but it probably wouldnt be the best idea. I’m sure there will also be a non-slim official 3.6 release.

2.80 and after, sony added sigcheck to the firmware. meaning that firmware files created on you psp can only be ran on YOUR psp.
besides, 3.60 is coming out later this month anyway.

That will never be blocked on the old PSP as it loads before anything else. The Slim probably has it blocked though.

as you all know, Sony never threatened him so he didn’t retire for that reason..to be honest..he retired for the same reason Fanjita “retired”..ps3news leaked their personal information and kept stealing their code (mainly D_A’s reason for leaving)..Fanjita left for that reason and also because the Pandora was leaked to early..

Old one… I doubt PSPSlim will have FULL homebrew/ISO support anytime soon (perhaps never)… Sony isn’t playing games, they knew when they started producing slims that they didn’t want them downgraded, it’ll prolly be awhile before pspslim sees any homebrew.
That’s fine by me. I’ll wait and keep my PSP Slim in storage for the time being, once I get it.
id prefer the old one. its not really THAT much slimmer and psp is slim to begin with….Im bought some psps yesterday with low firmware because once their gone their gone and original is always cool :] just my opinion.
I beat Mathieulh & Dark_AleX has custom firmware on there slim right now and testing it out. That’s my two cents
In theory, the 3.60 Firmware should be able to be copied to a thick PSP.
As the Sony design team got us to develop it expecialy for the Slim and Lite, we had to re-do all the codes to regester the UMD drive’s open or shut system And they also got us to develop a Second Firmware for it Incase of The firmware being cracked ([Code Name: Emergancy Exit]) and Modded.
As I can see this shouldn’t take long. Lets just say its NOT as fertile as the PSP Thick, BUT the PSP lite has a few tricks up its sleeves incase.
Also the PSP lite should, and as I can see from the pandora’s battery, be able to be Downgraded from a BRICK. If you were to BRICK a Slim whilst its upgrading from an Official update(I.E Pull the battery out as its installing the/an upgrade) you could and should be able to reinstall the Version 1.50 encrypted into the Pandora’s battery system programs.
I Do Not in ANY way know how, they got the PSP Slim and Lite, anything out side of the Data Design lab is confidential, I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY ARANGEMENTS THEY MAY HAVE WITH SONY. I only work in the Data System Development lab( I.E Firmware LAB ), All information I give to You guys here at PSP-Hacks.com is at my own risk.

Ino it has a new mother board, but as I do not work in the development plant, just the Firmware Development lab im never shown any specs, exept once it is put into production, and we get the prototype to develop a new firmware for.
All of us in the Firmware lab run 3.40OE as we will not give out to M33.

So the older hacks won’t work becuase the older firmwares and custom firmwares won’t work. Also becuase we don’t have write access to the flash memory built in. So that means we have to create new mods and hacks for the Slim. This is all right, right?

I do not think this means DAX will come back in full swing. probably wont come back at all. I think he was just interested in trying to dump it, and he and Math succeeded.

DAX and Math are hidin stuff. they want the psp community to try alone and find out without there help. we must prove ourselves. the psp slim can be hacked from the hinting DAX and Math give.

Slim is already out for days, at least in other countries. And Pandora’s been tried and failed.
i just went to gamespot today . they said they dont know the exact day release for the psp slim but they know it will before the chrismax.

Well, in reading this, it appears they’ve taken a step out of the active scene but they aren’t out of the scene completely. If anything it appears that they’ve managed to run code on it, if you interpret it correctly. So they want to see someone else break it, as they have done so.

Secondly what would be nice, is if Dark_Alex were to come back not to the PSP scene as we seem to have continued on without him without too much lost, but if he were to do something in the PS3 realm, then that would be cool.
All in all he did a hell of a job whether you like em or hate em, still gotta give the devil his due.

this is crazy im waitinf for mine to ship i was gonna give it atleast 4 months for this to happen but go figure now the thing is we need DAX back in the seen but everyone is expecting to much from him let him take his time and develope suomthing on his own time eventually something will come out (be it DaX or another) I prefer Dax OE setup but if i have to wait on him ill wait its just that much better. even if it took 2 years the wait would be worth it. Let him deal with his own situations and not try to make his mind up for him. The same goes for Fanjita. Let him do his Family thing if he wants to contribute the he will. Family in my case is more important.
(Dax and Fanjita) The psp community will miss you dearly, hope you decide to come back even if it’s just for the little things.
Now with all that said and done.

Well im getting a slim when it first comes out, but I will probably use my old PSP until the Slim gets hacked, that way, if I leave the slim on 3.60, i will have more chance of hacking it when the CFW comes out for it!! :)
I’m doing the same thing. I’m getting a PSP lite and leave it the same out of box, and just leave my thick PSP hacked. Much safer IMO.
