Team WildC*rd Interviewed

greg | September 3, 2007

Shortly after the departure of a true legend, Dark_AleX; Team WildC*rd picked up the remnants and shocked the scene by reverse engineering DAX’s work and releasing their own custom firmware. Today they continue the battle of Sony VS. PSP hackers by illustrating the PSP’s full potential. Exactly what Sony did not intend for their sleek hand held device.

Website exophase.com had the opportunity to speak with Team WildC*rd and capture some insight towards Dark_AleX’s retirement, their CFW friends — M33, and the source code leak which stirred up quite a headache in the PSP scene.

I agree this is a group of highly skilled coders and should be watched and anticipated.

hmm, I understand that they are putting a lot of work into this and everything.. but still… theres noting wrong with 3.40OE-A… and I see no reson to upgrade to ether of the newer developers firmwares. Im not saying they should not continue making them, for after all, many other people still are using them… I just think it would be better to wait for something new, that is a real improvement to come out, before I upgrade.

Still, lots of hard work, and I applaud them.

well some ppl do use the newest features sony put in the 3.5x firms for ps3 that arnt in 3.40… and unless your using m33 your on OF and thats not fun.

if you have no need for newer firms then hey dont get them. But again there are features ppl use in 3.5x that are not in 3.40

have you ever tried M33 3.52 v4?

i guess not cause otherwise you would have used M33’s firmware already.

one example: the demos are fixed now which were broken in 3.40 OE

i will even not mention the many new features which work 100% flawless

Personally, I love M33 3.52, but kudos to WildC*rd and the effort they have put in, and when they bring out 3.52 I may just update to it…

But what would really be excellent, is if WildC*rd and M33 were to come to together, share their knowledge and make an even better firmware, with even more features!!!

if you read between the lines you will notice that their current way of working in 2 separated teams already has the same advantages.

wildc*rd has used M33’s hacked sony iso loader for their futur version

vice versa M33 has also used some code of wildc*rd regarding the menu

Funny how they don’t like others reversing their code when most of their firmware is *stolen* from DA and M33. DA only gave up the source for 3.10 OE to them as they had already reversed nearly 90% of 3.40 OE code (and they couldn’t even protect the source DA provided them which also got leaked). They even admit to reversing M33’s recovery and the hacked Sony ISO loader to include in their firmware. They think sticking on a flashy looking recovery interface will attract people.

All I have to say is team M33 FTW!

When’s 3.52* coming out? :) I can’t wait for 3.52 support, along with GAME folder support for all kernel modes.

“A short time after the source was released, Ketchup from PSPGen updated the recovery source code for 3.52 M33 and our initial reaction is that it was theft. However, we grew to respect his work, and eventually gave him permission to release an update for it, which will surely appear soon.”

1337! :D

LOL D_A was great. Think about it. He was doing the same amount of work that a team of 14 people not necisarilly “strugled”, but more depend on eachother to do, by himself just

i still think every one is quiting because either sony is paying them to shut up and/or work for them, or sony is throwing lawsuits in their faces

i have been following the homebrew scene since 2005 when this site was created,I have a couple of psp’s with original 1.5 and a few with 340oe(dax one)Its nice to see that the scene will never die,but what happens when the new slim psp gets going,SOny is really tight on this version.good work to all the hackers ,may you not go to work for sony to try and reverse engineer us the ppl, unlike some hackers i know(not necessary psp hackers.
