1.50 Addon for 3.71 M33 (PSP Fat Only)

Posted by greg

Dark_AleX never breaking a promise — yesterday the Universal Unbricker, and now the long awaited 1.50 kernel patch for custom firmware 3.71 M33… Well not that long, its only been out a week now.

Instructions:

  • Install 3.71 M33 (if you haven’t already)
  • Copy the directory UPDATE to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE.
  • Get sony 1.50 update and copy it to the root with name “150.PBP”
  • Run the program and done.

Notes:

  • This program is only for PSP fat. The program will reject PSP slim, due to the 1.50 kernel not working on it.
  • Because of lack of space, the installer will remove Location Free Player, and the korean font

LE Recovery Plugin for 3.71-M33

Posted by greg

You know that sexy looking recovery menu from Team Wildc*rd’s Leaked Edition custom firmware? Chances are you’re probably no longer using it, but no doubt you’re missing that slick interface. Thanks to kethcup over at pspgen you can now use LE’s recovery with 3.71 M33! Props to Team Wildc*rd for their initial developments; without that, we wouldn’t have this.

LE Recovery Screenshot

Install as an ordinary PRX plugin; don’t copy to flash0.

Here innovations of this version:

  • Exclusive support of the 3.71 M33 and its new nests
  • Possibility of modifying the transparency of the prime coat, the shade and the writings
  • Configuration of removed plugins GAME150 bus not used in the 3.71 M33
  • The detail which kills: indicate if the PSP is a Conceited person or Slim!

Improved PSP Slim USB Charger Plugin

Posted by greg

Here’s a handy little plugin from team Noobz if you find yourself disappointed with Sony’s version of the Slim’s USB charging functionality.

Those of you that have tried out Sony’s version of the USB charge feature are probably a little bit disappointed that you are unable to charge the PSP whenever the PSP is plugged in. Well as I got annoyed with it enough to look into what code does the charging and it turns out that it is possible to charge the PSP without needing USB enabled. Hence here is a plugin for 360 m33 and 371 m33 to allow you to charge the PSP with a normal USB charger or from a PC whenever it is plugged in and the PSP is turned
on.

This PRX is designed for the PSP Slim running 3.71 or 3.60 M33 — not the old PSP. Use at your own risk.

Universal Unbricker for PSP Slim & Fat

Posted by greg

Update: Version 2 –

It has been reported some cases of bricks in the previous version when pressing circle in the bsod. This seems apparently to be a bug in the sony firmware code.

To fix it, this version will copy the registry of the psp that created the memory stick.

Dark_AleX whips out his magic stick for everyone to see, err, use… uh… wait a minute… that doesn’t sound right…

But on the real, now anyone can convert their ordinary memory stick into a “magic stick” for use with Pandora’s battery. Unbrick your PSP Slim and/or Fat, install custom firmware 3.71 M33, and you’re lookin’ good.

eyePSP Demo — Control your PSP with a Laser!

Posted by greg

I hope this dope ass “Spyder GX” laser won’t ignite my PSP into a ball of flames when using califrag’s latest homebrew innovation. Introducing eyePSP — control your PlayStation Portable with a laser pointer! You will need a ChottoShot/GoCam and of course, a laser — of any milliwatt-age. Watch and see…

Currently it doesn’t do much, more or less it’s a proof of concept release, hence, “demo.” Nonetheless you’ll notice how well the cursor responds to laser movement. Awesome idea, great work califrag.

Times of War v4.0 — for 3.71 & 3.60 M33 Firmwares

Posted by greg

James Mack still needs your help, and he’s hoping those running 3.71 or 3.60 M33 can do just that. The Dev Inside Team has released Times of War for anyone who remains without a 1.50 kernel.

There is no difference between this version and the previous 4.0 release (click here), except the obvious — running on 3.71 and 3.60 M33 custom firmwares.

New Sony Batteries Pandora-Proof?!

Posted by greg

Fanjita of Team Noobz has discovered Sony’s official PSP-110 battery, that of the original fat PSP, can no longer be converted to Pandora. After receiving a new battery from Amazon, it would seem numerous errors occur when using the battery creator, or even when attempting to flash an EEPROM image from an older Sony battery. Drats!

Fanjita says…

It wouldn’t be surprising for Sony to have patched their batteries so that they’re Pandora-proof. If this is true, then it still shouldn’t be a big problem - I’d recommend buying a new, large capacity battery to use as a regular battery, and using the original battery that came with your PSP for Pandora. And of course, you can always use Booster’s multi-IPL loader to use your Pandora battery as your primary battery, if you want. Just don’t go buying new Sony batteries for use with Pandora.

CWCHEAT BETA2 for CFW 3.71-M33 *Updated*

Posted by greg

Update: The second beta is now available for 3.71 M33 users… It fixes these following CWCheat functions: screenshot (normal and fast mode), brightness changer (5th level on lites), frame counter, remapsp, cheating with pops and normal engine, usb, memory dump, clock changer (cpu/bus), information about memory stick & power, memory editor, disassembler, various cheat searching methods, and many others.

And you thought CWCheat was only for cheating!

weltall has released an experimental CWCheat beta for Team M33’s latest custom firmware, 3.71 M33.

Talk about ninja-like skills; weltall coded this 3.71 M33 compatible module without even powering his PSP — just straight nid table checkin’. May as well have written it blindfolded with both hands tied behind his back. Shout outs to those who tested and confirmed its usability — mikebeaver, jamesbdx, robertfissk — all from the malloc.us IRC network.

Note that some CWCheat functions are missing because they’re dependent on other functions which couldn’t be found; these are:

  • Brightness function
  • lock of power during risky processes (loading/saving db/screenshots in fast mode): so avoid putting your psp in suspend/poweroff else cwcheat may crash on restore or the files being written/readed could be corrupt

Furthermore, weltall says:

plus i decided to make a lite prx just to be sure it worked before further testing, so for now the cheat search functions are disabled and this needs to be installed on top of an installation of 0.1.9 REV.E to be sure to work, and should work in vsh, 3.7x homebrews and games (tested only in game).”

There you have it. Leave your feedback/experience below.
