Xadrez — 3D Chess on the PSP!
greg | August 23, 2007
jbastos has released what appears to be, now correct me if I’m wrong, the first 3D chess game for the PSP. It features specular highlights, stencil reflections, and color blend. Very sexy for its initial release.
I’ve been playing Chess since grade 5 — yeah, so what, I’m a geek, wanna fight about it? You’re just lucky this current version only permits 1 player VS. the CPU. Perhaps in future releases we’ll see 2 player support, and if we’re really lucky, WiFi enabled multiplayer!
Keep in mind; jbastos is in the early stages of development with Xadrez. Unforeseen problems may occur.

Nice work jbastos. Thanks for bringing Chess back into my life. :)

WHITE SQUARE on the RIGHT… rule # one in chess…. looks nice THOE thanx again for helpng the HOMEBREW scene
oh ya… checkmate happens BEFORE i can kill the king… remember, the king CONCIDES(checkmate) not DIES… so i beat it in 5 moves
beautiful, just beautiful :)
adoro este tipo de jogos vou experimentar
PSP Chess Kingdoms has been released, but it’s not homebrew……nice job btw.
Yeah chess kingdom WAS the first GAME but I guess this is the first 3D chess homebrew game…
SWEET!
sexy
this is pretty amazing but i would like some custom soundtrack feature, online multiplayer, changeable chess board and pieces, and a timer, but AMAZING start!
And while you are at it can it make a BLT and Ham on Rye?
haha i only wish!
actually it’s not the first #D chess game either, there is one called 3DChess by mofig, released in Sept. 2005, there were also a couple of other 2D ones here is a link to the 1st release of a 3D chess game….

d1770 beat me to it

there’s another link to the first 3d chess app, though it admittedly isn’t as spiffy as this one :P
that version of chess has no ai and no rules….
this one does.
this games fucken awesome, hopes he continues to work on it and does not let it die out out like lots of other cool and awesome games did
This is NICE I love playing chess like this.Thank you for a great job jbastos
mortal kombat armageddon psp includes a 3-d chess…but it sucks big time :D
mortal kombat may have called it chess, but it was nothing of the sort. to take a piece you had to win a fight.
good 3d

Iv found problems. The AI opponent is always perfect which is annoying and also the highlighter needs adjusting when you move the board about. Other then that it’s a loverly made game.
Make it a multiplayer game and we’re in business.
If you can’t add adhoc (sending F2, G6 moves through the wifi), at least make it playable on the same console… I mean, after you’re done trinking and you make your move, you give the PSP to your friend. After he makes his move, you make yours and so on…
It shouldn’t be too hard.
It’s nice to see some badass homebrew games getting developed. Nice job!
jBASTOS? IN OUR COUNTRY “BASTOS” MEANS RUDE. HEHEHE! MAYBE THE CREATOR OF THIS IS FROM MY COUNTRY. HEHEHE!
Bastos is surname in my country (should be the creator’s country since Xadrez means Chess here) btw I’m from Brazil
and im portuguese!!!!!!!
this cool carnt wait for 2 player wifi if he can do it here hopein
sweat awesome homebrew
well done
Now I just need a 3D Go game for my PSP!
Amen!
could be bit harder to beat cpu. but great job! tnx.
checkmated but he still got one move lol but nice job
nice, but… white square on the RIGHT… screws up my 4 move checkmate… nice thoe…
can u run this on firmware 3.50
and 3.51??
and btw…..how do u install it??
MEN! JUST COPY THE FILES TO YOUR GAME150 FOLDER AND THAT’S IT. ARE YOU USING A OE FW?
Wow Great Visuals. Love the way you can view from different angles. Not bad when Homebrew is starting to get better than UMD games and 1/100th to size as well. Top marks for this one
jbastos is portuguese, right?
