Slash-N-Flash v3 Released

Posted by greg

Slasher of Team Duck has released Slash-N-Flash v3, which will ironically hack n’ flash your PSP in every which way imaginable. As Slasher says, PSP customizations are endless. I strongly urge you take proper precautions when using this app, i.e. create necessary flash backups before overwriting anything. Have fun!

Slash-N-Flash Screenshot

v3 changes:

  • GUI Updated
  • Theme option totally revamped.
  • Flash ANY theme guaranteed.
  • All files supported.
  • Flashes original files first so theme is the way it’s intended to look.
  • File browser is updated, and can now flash ANY file ANYWHERE you wish on the flash0 drive.
  • Tools supports more options now.
  • When saving flash space, SlashNFlash creates a backup so you can reflash the files.
  • Launch RECOVERY eboot if anything wrong happens. (Reflash to previous firmware eg. 1.5)
  • Dump the entire contents of your flash0 drive. (Used for backup)
  • Format your flash1 drive to reset settings.
  • Everything basically updated.

lmao, funny thing is; it hasn’t bricked anyones PSP. And if its bricked yours; you’re a fucking moron…It’s all user-error if you happen to brick your PSP. (Beauty of this app)

    2007-08-19 19:28:13

yep, slashers got it right, its always user error unless the NAND is worn down, so if it bricked yours its your own fault for 1)flashing it too many times or 2)doing something wrong

I wouldn’t trust this. Plus even if you can recover it’s a pain in the ass just to customize psp. So I can be like ‘wow mine is different than yours. I am truly unique now’. I don’t care cuz I’m the only one on the short bus with a hacked psp anyway.

This program edits your flash memory banks and must be used with caution(don’t use it if you aren’t 100% sure what it does). I haven’t tried the app yet, but I wouldn’t try it unless you’ve edited you psp’s themes and such via flash.

Just incase anyone is questioning the authenticity of this app…
The first version of this app was released long before flashers even existed. This was one of the first ever available (Not to mention this one is better than all the others ;) ). Check out the first release of this program - it was when waves were first able to be modified (Waveflasher).

Stick with this boys and girls, it’s here to stay.

Its great they released this. But I think it would be safer, and much faster flashing RCO’s manually using the USB, rather than having a program do it for you. Because when a program has access to your flash…..anything could happen.

    Comment by Joe
    2007-08-19 22:21:03

just use the usb for flashing. There’s no need for program. more risky with program. And I’ve flashed my psp a hell of alot of times and it hasnt bricked. Also always HAVE recovery mode or you are screwed.

Why bother customizing your PSP if there’s even the smallest possible chance of bricking it ? Because it looks cool ? :| I don’t think it’s safe to fuck around with the PSP’s flash.

I advise you to flash it WHEN YOU HAVE TO (mostly on new custom firmware) if you don’t have the money to buy another PSP.

Or what the hell… It’s your PSP ! Do whatever the fuck you want with it.

does this have any advantages over manually editng flash thru usb?

    Comment by Slasher
    2007-08-20 07:32:13

IMO, yes, it does. Just the sheer ability to be able to flash as many themes as you want on the go is bonus enough. It’s as simple as clicking the theme you want and it installs it for you. It’s all upto you to choose what themes you’d like to install.

I’m thinking of making a plugin which changes your theme randomly or something, might cause for better variety. And lets face it - people are lazy. Maybe if my program does it for them, they’ll be more appreciative.

“don’t use it if you aren’t 100% sure of what you’re doing!” simple as that.

If you’re name is anything to go by it sounds like you’re the one in need of a life. And please, enlighten us to why you have so much time to post bollocks on a psp site if you’re oh so busy leading a full and rewarding life. Fucken idiot.

Anyway theres a v5 of this already.

The V5 was released by a LAMER and I don’t endorse it in any-which way. He didn’t even change the code from V2. All he did was add themes.

Thanks Slasher for another great release.

For those who fully-bricked their PSP while using this app., go to a corner and sob.

Slash N Flash is the most stable, flexible and easy to use on-PSP XMB customisation flasher I’ve ever used since the 3.03 OE days.

Sure there’s the recovery menu but I can store a few backgrounds, fonts and icons and flash them every now and then.
The original XMB’s really boring, I could fall asleep looking at that boring font.

    1. Go into recovery mode by holding down the R trigger while booting your PSP.
    2. Activate USB Mode.
    3. Rename your SlashNFlash folder to RECOVERY.
    4. Use the option in your recovery to run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP.
    5. Go into the themes option, then install your original theme by clicking ‘Original’.

there’s an easy way to unbrick if u semi brick your psp using this program. i use the 3.52 m33-4 fw. so using the recovery menu i juz access flash0 via usb. delete all the flash0 content and replaced it with my flash0 backup. when exit and restart my psp it reverts back to my original theme as if nothing has happen. Semi bricked my psp 3 time using this program. all 3 time i use this method. its easy n fast. after a while only then i realize u need to delete the dic folder in flash0 in order to install some of theme properly. This program works like a charm!!!! thx slasher. now do you any good website that teaches u how to mod your xmb. wanna make my own theme.
