i can confirm, i updated from 3.55-M33-2 and now i think it bricked. What the hell is this, i turn on the psp..the green light is on but i cant get a video….the recovery screen doesnt come up….! ANY HELP ?

*sigh* those who are “bricking” their PSPs with this update did NOT read the license.txt file… also the readme explains how to “unbrick” in these cases.

The bricking is intentional by M33 for certain people.. I do not think it is a good idea for them to do this as it hurts innocent psp owners more than the people they are trying to hurt

I’ll still wait a bit b4 updating cause there isn’t any real need for me to do so right now. The only thing I really need right now is for the icons in the game menu to load faster. Other than that, I’m happy with my 3.52 m33-2 CFW.

In last case, and only last case, the problem will be fixed if you delete browser cache of both,
psp and pc, and stop visiting that site.

Not respecting the license will bring the PSP to BRICK, because the program will refuse to run.

Apparently this will check your pc’s ie history…………..it’s almost malicious software in my opinion.

just make sure u know where the firmware was released from before u use it and DONT DELETE ANY FILE (README ETC)

well i think it might just be time for me to use the wilcard firmware instead if they can make 3.52 cfw, because i’m too scared to use this because of the ps3news. i dont remember going on it, but i could have followed a link by somebody off a forum and not realised, or somebody else could have done it on my pc. It’s a shame becuase i have always said i shall stick to M33 over wildcard because they were first to the scene, i just hope you won’t use this tactic in all firmwares, because you will make me donate to other makers, i donate quite alot of money as well.

okay i have cfw 3.03 oe-c. i wanna upgrade to 3.52 m33 now that i can’t get psptube to run on my psp. I have one question: how would i go about installing 3.52 m33 if i have 3.03 OE-C installed already?

It can’t check your PC browser (it’s a PSP program) and it does not brick from having the ps3suck site in your PSP’s browser cache or bookmarks, I just tested it. It does have a built in md5 check and will brick if the eboot has been modified, which that site does. Bottom line, download from a trusted source and you should be fine.

Another upgrade but no PSX disc swapping in popsloader yet >.>

Hmmm.. well I tried putting on PS1P Alpha 1, PSX-P Alpha 2, and PSX-P Beta 1. None of them worked. I also even tried DA’s. I’m wondering it this has anything to do with this CF?

you can install cfw ? then use recovery to get back to 1.5 fw but you wont want to m-33 cfw kicks dev hooks ass

Anybody else notice vshanalog (the plugin to let you use the analog stick instead of the d-pad in the xmb) makes it so you can’t hit home for the extra menu?

I updated from 3.52 to 3.52-3 skipping the 3.52-2 update. All is fine. Did not brick my psp…. I have been reading on http://www.pspupdates.com website that there is a fake update that people are downlading and installing causing the BRICK…

just ran this update and it works great!! Downloaded it from here and runs perfect. Cool features too, love the direct access to the umd from xmb, more like ripping my xbox games now…

How about playing iso games from the pc. I can´t get the IRShel to work, is there another way for doing it. And by the way thanks for the CFW. Have just upgrade from 3.10 OE’A to this on. But I’m missing the cool plug in from 3.10 OE-A. That make it possible to see my games on the pc, in the XMB. Just by holding the square bottom..

If you’re install this 3.52M33 cfw _update_ from trusted site, and install it on _normaly_ (without any in-work-bugs) working 3.52M33 – you not get any bricks or bugs.

Yeah. I got mine off of PS3news, and I have a bricked PSP… Green light, and no screen.. I didnt feel the need to read the liscense, etc, cause I trusted the M33 updates… Guess you cant trust everyone… Any possibly way to unbrick this update?

This next one is a LITTLE clarification about what has transpired the last 24 hours concerning Team M33’s newest release, CFW 3.52 Update #3. Apparently, the program has refused to work and, in more serious incidents, have bricked a number of PSP units because of issues with some sites and the program’s license.

QJ.NET reader MikeyMike01 sent us the information below in the hope that all misunderstandings and issues will be resolved. Here’s the message, verbatim:

Going to, or having gone to “Criminal” Sites does not, and cannot cause a brick.
Upon completion of installation, one can still visit “Criminal” Sites
The ONLY code implemented by team M33 is one that checks to make sure that the MD5 is the correct one. Any editing of the installation (Including ICON0, etc.) done will result in a non-functional bricked PSP. Any files on “Criminal” sites have been edited, and thus are causing brickage.
The one hosted here on QJ is not an intentional bricker, which does not carry any higher risk of bricking than any other CFW install (Next to none)
That clears a whole lot of conspiracy theories and rumors floating around the interwebs, right? Lesson to be learned: be careful and check out readmes that come with anything you install on your PSPs. It doesn’t hurt to be cautious.

UPDATE: MikeyMike01 has sent us another bit of information regarding the clarifications. Apparently, the tipster was referring to visiting the “Criminal” sites using a PC (bricking your PSP because you visited a site on your PC is quite absurd). According to MikeyMike01, in case you did visit the Criminal site on your PSP browser, “you still have to delete your ms0:/SYSTEM/BROWSER folder”.

I smell bullsh1t. I have a PS3News account and visit their site every now and then. I also downloaded the new firmware from there as it I happened to be browsing at the time that the news post came through.

The result? Nothing. My PSP is now running 3.52 M33-3.

Secondly have you people actually realised what they are claiming will happen is a physical impossibility? At no time can a ZIP file i downloaded from a site EVER modify itself without my knowledge especially when the contents are NEVER EXECUTED ON THE PC.

I went from 3.40oe to this latest M33. Wasn’t worth it. Also, my USB would freeze in XMB.

People the website thing is to stop people from going to PS3News.com, and downloading from them as they take peoples work and claim it as their own, the update had a anti-PS3News warning. PS3News hex-edited the message out of the update, such an edit; or any edit for that matter; to the update will make it unstable and cause a brick.

It is ironic to write code that is attacking piracy of something that was pirated and is used for piracy in the first place. I thought this stunt was pretty childish of Team M33, and does not make them seem very trustworthy. Oh well, nerd wars are always fun at least.
