MapThis! 0.5 (1 Year Anniversary)
greg | August 18, 2007
Deniska has released MapThis v0.5, marking the 1 year anniversary of the popular PSP GPS-enabled software. Installation, controls, obtaining maps, and absolutely everything of importance can be found with the included documentation.
Now map your route to the closest beer store and pick up a celebratory case of Beck’s for Deniska! Cheers!
0.5 changelog:
- Birds Eye mode
- Inverted colors (night) mode
- Voice Prompts / Alerts support.
- Missing zoom layer rendering (only for gpsfs maps). MapThis! attempts to render a missing zoom layer with shrinked tiles fromthe next zoom level.
- Screenshots are saved in ms0:/PSP/PHOTO now
- Icons/sounds can now be located in either a particular map directory or system (system/sounds or system/icons) directory.
- POI and WAYPOINT files can now also be looked up from ms0:/PSP/COMMON
- Geodata can now be shared between maps if geodata.dat file is placed in the same directory as EBOOT.PBP.
- The program will attempt to load geodata.dat file in the current map directory first.
- New tiger line geodata for USA (2006se from 03/2007) compiled and available through gmdl18a and higher versions.
- Edit functionality added to “Configuration” screen. While in Configuration screen, scroll down untill the line that needs to be edited is on top. Press [X] to enter the edit mode. You can use up/down arrows to increment/decrement current character by 1. Use [START] to save or [SELECT] to cancel the edit.
- New current position prediction logic, hopefully resulting in smoother scrolling.
- A few rendering bug fixes in graphics routines.
- New parameters added to configuration file: STARTUPFREQUENCY, STARTUPSCREENMODE, NIGHTMODE, SPEEDLIMIT. SATINFOFREQUENCY defines cpu frequency on Satellite Info screen (PSP-290 only)
- Timezone parameter removed from configuration, timezone is determined based on your psp date/time settings.
- Localization support (language packs).
- PSP-290 version does not require prx files to run in non-gps mode.
- Attached sorce code adopted to the latest verison of PSPSDK

does the map this need internet to work or does it need the gps only
Just the gps…you download your own maps from the internet of your PC through the download program they give you…great job deniska!
OMG!!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING LIKE A BITCH WAITING FOR HER PERIOD…..LOL.
Something is wrong with the voice prompt it seems to say it really fast.
Few things about this homebrew:
1) You don’t ‘NEED’ the GPS hardware. You can still use it to look up directions on the go, after you’ve downloaded the said maps. It just won’t have a “YOU ARE HERE” arrow on the map, since you don’t have GPS.
2) You MUST DOWNLOAD the MAPS in your local area for this to work.
That’s all I can remember for now…
nice bout to download this now
Back with more things to add.
3) You get 2 choices of GPS receivers that this homebrew supports.
a) The official PSP-290 GPS Receiver. Retails for $60.
b) Holux GPSlim 240. A Bluetooth GPS Receiver. Retails for $70-80.
Note: This receiver is Bluetooth, and since the PSP does not support Bluetooth, you need to buy a USB cable for it. Which costs $10-20, apparently. However, a plus side is that you can use this receiver with a Laptop, or a PDA, if you want. So, it’s multi-functional.
If you’re only ever going to use the GPS on your PSP, just get the official receiver, PSP-290. It’s cheaper and it gets the job done.
If you ever plan to move on from using your PSP, and perhaps use a PDA, or a Laptop one day instead, you might want to pay a little extra and consider getting the Holux.
This things is awesome
