Music prx v0.55 Beta Released *Updated*

greg | August 15, 2007

Update: Music prx 0.55 corrects a bug which would cause some mp3s to hang at the end of the file.

It boggles my mind; why hasn’t Sony done this already… Both the PSP and PS3 out-of-the-box are not capable of playing custom soundtracks. Well, I shouldn’t say not capable, because clearly they are. This feature for the PS3 should be available in future firmware updates. And the PSP, lets leave joek2100 to do Sony’s dirty work.

0.54 beta:

  • Removed the settings file because it was causing a problem
  • Added those settings into music_conf.txt
  • NOTE: In 3.40OE (and possibly other fws, setting the cpu speed > 222 will cause the vsh to not work/crash)
  • This seems fixed in 3.52 M33-2

I copied the seplugins folder to the root of my memory card but this program doesn’t work…I try to press note+L to play music but that doesn’t work. And when I start playing a song the regular way from the music menu in the xmb, and I then try to start a UMD game or enter the Game folder of the psp (via the xmb) …the music turns off and the game loads…so no custom music for me >_>

I’m guessing that I’m doing something wrong…but I dont know what…any help?

Ahem Noob… (I always wanted to say that) Start the music after the game has loaded the same way you do in the xmb. L trigger and note

I think your music folder needs to be in the ms0:/psp/ folder, and not the root.

If you want to play music using the ms0:/music folder, then just change it in the config.

Ok figured out what the god damn problem was, the seplugins folder has to be capitalized! that fixed the problem.

What i mean is that could u make the volume louder than the original psp volume in the music prx

Any louder would blow the psp’s crappy speakers.

You are my fucking hero… I really wanted sony to do this for a while. Just make the volume like 150 or something and it would be perfect. Also, if thats not possible, the person using it can just go to the game options and turn down the audio (thats what I do with GTA:LCS)

Just get a damn cannal headset. You know… the type you put in your ear that isolates most of the background noise ? Kinda like the Sennheiser CX300 (costs about $50). Read the reviews on it.

I’m pretty sure there’s an acidmod out there that does this but you’ll need to open your PSP (with a screwdriver) and do some wiring, which isn’t pretty.

Anyway, it’s a Sony flaw, so increasing the volume would most definetely fuck up the sound. Deal with it.

Just installed this and it works brilliantly! Only question though…. what is the music_src folder for? Its not on my memory stick but it still works! Is there any need for it?

I want to listen to mp3s - but not have to abort my game in progress. Does this allow you to do that? Basically, I want to pause my current game then have ability to access xmb music and play whatever mp3s I have.

this is what this is for you have to have a cfw
so u can use it your music folder has to be in the psp folder and all you do is place these folders in you psp root go to your xmb push hold music note button and left trigger it should make the music play its so easy you can also do this while your are palying a game to mute the game sound you push the music note and selecet or start i cant remember well hope it works

I’m just saying that ANY 8 GB mem card will have problems running homebrew. fw 1.5 and m33 (based on 1.5) only allocates the first 4.0 GB and after those 4.0 GB, everything becomes corrupted. That’s why I said he’s got better chances IN THE FORUM ! ;)

No, No, No. Everything DOES NOT become corrupted after $GB’s are filled only Homebrew does, you can use ISO’s, CSO’s, Pics, Videos till you fill the MS to full capacity. I know for sure because I’VE HAD ONE SINCE LAUNCH.
