Without further ado, Timwillhack has finally unveiled Hexaxis XXI Update #8 — the homebrew puzzle game comprising dope graphics, good tunes, and addictive game play. Watch the video if you don’t believe me…
Update #8 changes:
- Added Unique 3D menu system
- Added 3 modes
- Standard (With Preview)
- Advanced (No Preview and faster)
- Quick Run (3 minutes)
- Zipped content is under 14megs! ~17.5 megs unzipped (thats less than the last update with less content)
- Added High Score table with Score, Level and Highest Multiplier and Verification code for each mode
- Added 2 new levels Sleepy Spudgy and Tornado Card (Removed Hippie Tie Die)
- Added Logo and Menu Music
- Added Rotating Level Select Menu with mp3 preview and background / color preview
- Added fonts with shadows for menu and HUD
- New Pause Screen allows you to change the level without restarting or go back to main menu without losing the running game
- A ton of new transitions from everything from the logo to the pause screen
- Much cleaner and readable HUD during gameplay, including keeping the multipliers off unless you have them
Square button is another turbo button but half way between turbo and regular speed
- If you put a dice down and it resets to the top, you have to let go of down before the dice will move down unless you are holding up
- If you put a 1 down, its bad! The grid will fade out so you can barely see the dice until you put another down, this is meant to screw you up
- Fixed very major bugs with the combo / multiplier system getting stuck
- Added Drop combos, Wipe Combos, and total multiplier (all of them added up)
- Added Verification codes which are unique to each mode, score and multiplier to stop cheating
- If you are in a game, if you try to start over it asks if you are sure before restarting
- The further you get in the 2 main modes the faster everything goes
- Advanced mode starts faster than Standard
- Preview line is off for Advanced and Quick Run
Also, to spice things up a bit, Timwillhack left this note for me to share:
I’ve had a hard time putting it down trying to beat my scores. Try beating 385,298 in Quick Run (132 Multiplier)!
Matter of fact, I’m hosting a contest ending Sept 27th 2007 (my birthday) to see who can get the highest score in Quick Run. Whoever is the highest gets a $50US Gamestop Gift Card or similarly priced international prize (non-USA). Anyone who submits a non-validatable score (via the Verification Codes) will forfeit the contest and any future contests for wasting my time.

Looks nice. Always enjoyed the other versions.. looking forward to this one.
Best homebrew game bar none.
rip off plain and simple, yeh its homebru ,yeh its free ? but why copy another game.
saying that tho … its very very nicly done and
sounds just as good as it looks so well done.
now go make a copy we all actuly want to play
(golden eye online multi.
WOW, DO you realize how many copyrighted games are being played on the PSP right now? Dumb fuck.
What is it a ripoff of? Its a unique game. I really enjoy playing it and that is why I made it in the first place.
STFU n00b.
/quit LIFE.
Dude, it’s better for people to think you’re a dumbass than you open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Ripoff? This is the same author of the PC version.
So, Halo for the PC is then a ripoff, because obviously Microsoft didn’t make it.
How many countless games were ported to different consoles/PC? They must all be ripoffs.
Sheesh, this forum is getting overloaded with snot-assed punks who think the world owes them their homebrew, and then complain that it’s not what they want.
So, you want Golden Eye with online multiplayer….then STFU and get started, you have a lot of programming to do. Oh, and while you are at it, make sure it is bug free, like little snot nosed punks always make the biggest sh!t about.
Never come to this site again because you don’t deserve to play any “homebru.” Now go ask mommy and daddy if they will buy you a nintendo d.s. I hear they have lots of good games for the kiddies.
Great game! Great looking! Great job! 5/5
Nice work.
Looks very well put together in the video,
Downloading this now,
I know i’m going to get addicted to this,
Keep up the good work,
Og hvad hulen er det?
This game is beyond addicting.
I agree.
i really want to get into this game. what are the rules. thanks
simply Awesome. Great Job!!!
I still don’t understand how to play yet.
Very nice job Tim. The quality makes it look good enough to have made its way to a UMD.
game looks good, too bad there aint no rules or help file to guide us thru. Pls try and make a short one so we can at least understand the logic. but its my kind of game..good work
The only problem is random blocks being created during gameplay, otherwise great game and great job.
This is here to keep you having to utilize all the sides of the dice, and because if they weren’t there I would never ever lose. In bombastic / xi sai, basically pro’s only use 6’s because you can, in hexaxis I wanted to put an end to that, and thus you are forced to make combos with other dice that you normally wouldn’t
RULES (how to play):
You line up the numbers of the sides of the dice. If you are linking 6’s you have to have at least 6 in a row, 5’s five, 4’s 4 all the way down to 2 twos. Ones NEVER go away and cause the grid to go transparent. You can get multipliers for a chain (as long as you have combos active on the grid the chain will go up by one for every dice you add to a combo), you can get wipe chains, which are just 1 multiplier for every time the wipe line hits the bottom while there are still active combos. There is finally the drop combos which are when you setup a combo to happen after a combo underneath the one you already have, EX:
2
3
EX:

3
the example isn’t working for the comments try again:

when they clear the twos will come into contact and make a regular chain (2 x multiplier) and a drop combo (2 x multliplier) the drop number is the same as the size of the combo, so you basically double your multliplier every time you make a drop combo. I’ve been able to get upwards of 145 per minute (for the first minute anyway)
Let me know if you still do not understand.
good game, i still think KETM is a bit better, you ever notice that these guys dont have verry custom PSPs, no special icons or vol bars, or GAMEBOOTs. ive hacked 20 PSPs and every one has a differnt theme, and a custom gameboot, made by me ( thanx SONY UMD tools) so like get wit it pple be UNIQUE
Hey man,
Yeah I know I don’t have any ‘cool’ customness. I’m still at 3.02SE too! I only bother when I need to or when I have time. I haven’t run into any roadblocks yet (with 3.02) so I haven’t bothered to do anything. I also (as a developer) don’t want something to f up my psp that is only cosmetic to begin with. I don’t wear makeup in real life anyway. ;) I think I’m unique that I made a game that is unique, so who cares what my background is on the XMB.
true man thumbs up to that, but… i ALWAYS show off my wicked custom to people, with doobie batt running man loading, nice XMB , but i dont mess with my good one that much… anyways thanks for making the games, a bit better than I can do, so … thanx
L U M I N E S it mega resembles that game so as far as i am concerned its a copy … GO OUT AND MAKE SOMETHING NEW …next we will see homebru rokoloco just becase its fresh and original someone will copy it till death instead of using their imagination.
still ,i say its a very good looking game and theres oviously a lot of work been done on it
and i commend the author/creator for such
a professional looking/sounding game.
THE ONLY thing it uses from lumines is the wipe line, big freaking deal, if I took it out and let it all just be time based (which it is anyway) then you would have no idea when the dice were going to clear. Lumines is a very simple easy game, Hexaxis is very hard and not the same at all. Thanks for the compliments, but if you are going to claim something is a clone, at least try playing the game for over 5 minutes.
Hey tim, awesome game man. Just ignore the queers.
This game ownz! are you going to make another update or is this your final one?
I will probably have one or two more updates. I have 17 levels in the PC version so I was looking to put about 12 in the PSP version. I was also going to try to implement a ‘world’ highscores thing in the game that uploads your score and downloads the current best. Besides that, just fix any new bugs that I or anyone else finds.
How do you stand in that intel coding competition?…
I heard about how this was one of the submissions but i havent heard anything in awhile.
I am voted #1 in my category. But the final judging hasn’t released the ‘true’ finalists yet. The public voting was to help them make decisions but not to make them.
HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Wow your birthday is a day after mine, mine is September 26th.
