Acidmod’s LED Fader Tutorial

greg | July 17, 2007

Interested in modding that PSP of yours? Found by Cyberpyrot and written/installed by *FuFa is the classic LED fader. Surprisingly, this mod isn’t that difficult at all.

Requirements:

  • PSP, of course
  • A Fader PCB from sickmods.net (LED Fader Deluxe)
  • Some kynar wire in different colors would be helpful too
  • A steady hand for soldering

Soldering to the PSP’s mainboard may make some uncomfortable; while it is a risky procedure, there are only 4 wires connecting to the motherboard — nothing too complex. Here’s a video clip of it in action:

Anyone know what skin, or theme he’s using. I haven’t seen one that goes over the XMB like that.

and yet another crazy addon for the psp by acidmods. they would be the first to say “hmm i think we should put ANOTHER lcd on there so we can watch movies and play PSP games at the same time! is it really that useful, eh… but hey its still pretty cool and id prolly do somthing like that if i didnt already value the little battery power i have now lol

Any chance they can make it that it only lights up the button you are pressing at that time? I’d love that.

Why does everyone complain about battery life? I get about 3-4 hours on mine and I’m clocked to 333 Mhz. I don’t see what the big deal is…

Just out of curiousity, what kind of theme is that?
I am a XMB-theme noobie. As far as I know, those black artistic lines at the bottom right arent waves, but what are those? is it the background?
