Sadly, the following was posted earlier on dark-alex.org…
I’ve decided to cease OE development, and leave PSP scene.
The reasons are various.
One of them is the time it consumes, which i’m losing from other things.
The other is related to my security. I didn’t like Sony menaces to PS3 hackers.
I think it is better to leave now rather than end paying the consequences.
Seems a bit strange after we just saw the recent announcement of custom firmware 3.51 OE…
If this is indeed fact, then goodbye ol’ chum, thanks for the ground breaking achievements & all your hard work, sincerely. And if this is not true, perhaps the result of some crude joke, then disregard.

No. 3.40 OE is already at it’s best for running homebrew program.
If you want more latest features, buy another PSP and use the official firmware.

What happend to those hackers?
Those hackers were bought out..one of them managed to create a program that would load a BluRay iso..it didnt run it but it booted it. They bought all of his code and told him to step down.
I believe this is the same case here. After sony came across the 3.50 downgrader..they had enough and basically killed homebrew at its source…D_A…without CF im afraid the psp is now dead..unless someone, somehow finds out how to make another CF.
I think he gave up on it..perhaps it was impossible to do it with this version, perhaps the flash can no longer hold all of this new information..I dunno guys, im just throwing out theories on D_A’s stepping down. But thankz in the long run man, you have worked miricals on the psp. Your basically the PSP Jesus. haha

There was a line of code in the 3.51 firmware that sony directed towards D_A He will not say what the message said but it must have been bad to scare him like this.

Hmm, DA was dedicated to the psp scene for a long time.. All I can think is that sony have either, 1) Paid him off with a nice tidy sum ! or
2) they have hired him in which case his work would then be illegal due to contractual reasons (sharing Sony info) if the 2nd is the case I bet he has demanded a FAT pay cheque!
Anyway, what ever DA has decided to do, good luck to him, although, very gutted that 3.51 OE didnt make it as there was quite a major update in it for all future games… OUCH !!

A hex editor may work, if you’re able to dump the firmware files from a .psar file.

Hey NoiseReducer, I’ve never used any Custom Firmwares before, but there’s no need to call someone sick for showing their immediate raw, unrefined thoughts about all of this. Confuzion just needs some time to chill out and realize that DAX wasn’t the type of person that would take risks. So many protests have happened in America’s past, going against a higher power of some sort in order to help others of their own kind, some ending up in unfortunate bloodshed. But they showed what they believed in, even when someone more powerful was trying to rid the world of that rebel.

He never redistributed it. Every CF I have installed required me to download 1.5 + the newest FW and the CF installer. DA did not redistribute anything.

You know this is rediculous, sony should have 0 problems with custom firmwares and hombrew as a matter of fact other than piracy issues, but heck what is there to pirate all games “well most” on psp suck. I say we need to spam sony for this, mabey if we overload a few of their servers we will get a point through. I am officially going to take my bussiness to nintendo and microsoft because of this.
Nintendo has announced they are alloing 3rd party devs to make apps for the wii. So why cannot sony allow homebrew on the psp.
I can tell you why pure greed, If sony put any message in the firmware it should be thanking d_a for improving their work, what sony does to their customers is rediculous and I for one am tired of it. I hope more people decide to show sony what happens when you mess with their customers, and leave the sony scean.

Well at first they were going to release an sdk to make homebrew with untill people found out how to load iso’s.
Yeah ISOs suck the money out of game developers. It’s good to try a game and then buy. I only play with UMDs now, more demos need to be released.
You have to know that it isnt all Sony’s fault. They can’t help that they need to plug up all the holes in the frimwares. There are some really big legal issues with the custom frimware. They’re already losing enough money from the isos all over the net.
