MapThis! 0.5 Demo Video

greg | June 14, 2007

The popular GPS-enabled homebrew app known as “MapThis!” continues to shine as Deniska demos the newly introduced voice prompts. Check it out for yourself…

Very impressive! “MapThis!” 0.5 should be ready in the coming days. If you have the PSP GPS device (PSP-290), or plan on picking one up in the future, give MapThis! v0.4.99 a try.

Is the United Kingdom mapped out yet?

Can see your area on Google Maps? If so, that is the map you can use for MapThis. You also need some geodata info to be able to get addresses and street names and POI data for your places of interest. It’s not so easy if this is your first time with this app. Well worth of mastering!

Just wondering if this one will be packaged better…couldnt get v0.4.99 to work… I got the gps tester to work but not the Map This! app so basicly for now I have a usless 290 unit…if anyone has any ideas or has it pre bundled please leave where to get it.

to what extend does it ‘not work’?
what dod oyu do and what is the error?

Comment by TheKrimzongGhost
2007-06-16 15:32:14

well it has an error stating the gps unit wont load… now the 290 tester picks up at least 6 satilites and gives me accurate altituded longitudes and latitudes…so i cant figure out why i cant get the map this software to read the gps unit.

The map shown is of Brooklyn, so unless its just a dummy map, I’d say yes.

I just setup 4.99 on my psp and it is awesome.

Some of you might want to know that you do not have to have a gps unit to use this as a map viewer. Just use the holux eboot included in the zip and it’ll start without needing a gps device.

Very useful app if you ever get lost or want to find something but don’t know how to get there.

The POI are cool to, now I know where every burger king in my city is ;)

I wonder what that sporadic updating of the maps was while watching the video.

Isn’t Sony going to release an official GPS with software for the USA eventually?

Great job getting it to work this well!
