Portable VNC v1.2.4 (IR Keyboard Support) Released
greg | June 9, 2007
Now easier than ever access & control your PC anywhere (within range of a WiFi spot) with Portable VNC v1.2.4 from homebrew developer extraordinaire, ZX-81! I say “easier than ever” for the sole reason version 1.2.4 conveniently features IR keyboard support! This release is only compatible with 3.XX OE firmwares.
The IR keyboard support is based on the work of Harald Fielker (author of the PSP IR Keyboard Library), and the Virtual keyboard is based on the Danzel code.
PSPVNC has been written by NHD from TeamXos, and it’s based on the PalmOS VNC client.
Portable VNC v1.2.4 changes:
- 3.x Custom firmware support (WPA)
- IR Keyboard support
- Danzeff virtual keyboard (with same layout as pspssh!)
For the VNC server listening on your PC, I recommend TightVNC. Click here to get that.

This is a pretty cool. Again, good job as always ZX. :)
come on guys. lets admit it. homebrew is getting pretty boring now. nearly all the good hacks have already been created. unless they come out with an irshell to fiddle with phones but until then were all baisically left in the dumps until the psp2 comes out and they start missing around with its homebrew potential, right….right.?.?.?
S.T.F.U.
and could you do better? than just sitting down whining :)
your both little elementary and middle school boys with nothing to do with your spare time. wake up and get the picture. the psp is old by now and only a matter of time before the new comes out. do you really think the programmers are going to be wasting there time with this machine when an even stronger one is going to come out within a year or so. wake up and get the picture, and stop with that bullshit saying “you think you can do better” its been sayed so long its lost meaning.
lol talk about being negative :P ah well each to its own
somebody’s psp got bricked; lol
remember the dreamcast? homebrew is still being made for it so you really need to shut up seriously if you dont like your psp go throw it off your house or something dont come here to a psp homebrew site and complain about what people are doing for you and everybody else without getting anything in return
ya right mafuck dont furget daedulus
Work on Linux? Windows sucks too much for me…
yep i am using it just get vnc for whatever flavour of linux i am running abuntoo
Great Job
@all: thx

nice job, i use pvnc quite often, will there be a zoom out-function in the future?
i use this app loads and ive ordered a keyboard for use with this and afkim cant wait until it comes :p
I’ve modified afkim to work with my ir keyboard, and i’ve sent the code to danzel. He should release a new version soon :)

How do you configure the pc side of things???, cheers all…..
google “tightvnc”, download it and then run it on your pc. when it first runs it will popup with the config windows, just leave all options as default but change the password. You should notice you have a white box shaped icon whith a black v on it in your system tray now (bottom right of screen near the clock on the start bar) this means the vmc server is running on your pc, now open portable vnc on your psp, and add a new host, enter the ip address of your pc into the host bit (you can find this by opening a command prompt on you pc and typing “ipconfig”) then once you have entered the hostname is will ask for a password, enter the one that you put in when you setup vnc server on your pc. Once you have entered this you should a new host in your hosts list and should be able to hit X enter the password and begin controlling your pc. Hope this helps a few ppl.
Why does my PSP lock when i load it? it says “PSPVNC v1.2.4-3XOE: Portable VNC Client. Please wait now loading !”
It just sits there. I mean, the older ones work.
I had this before, check your on the lastest 3.40 oe-a firmware and that your recovery menu kernerl option is set to 1.50
Thumbs up, way up!
this time round it’s quite bad .. can’t use HOME button..how the hell do i quit ? After entering new host, it asks for filename.. no way to get pass that stage … bad programming
you’re right it’s not well documented, but for your issue you just have to press the down key ;). To exit, you have to choose exit in the menu.

Nice one ZX, good to see your still at it mate.
NICE WORK ZX !!! you are the ONE at psp emulators and application porting..!!! time to make a port of mIRC on PSP with IR Keyboard support… LOL :)
ds emulater would make the psp more famous
DS emulator would never work on a PSP. The PSP screen is too Small to have room for a touch screen. And I geuss you could use a Joystick as a Stylus but… it just wouldnt work.
hey now im not sayin its possible but the reaons you said are definatley not going to stop someone from making it these are things you can work around. you can decrease the size of the screens so they both fit side by side or have a button switch screens. and remember the psptouch or w/e it was called i cant remember but someones making a touch screen for the psp… now again i am not saying this is possible and frankly i dont think it is myself but that is definately not the reason it would not be.
Now easier than ever access & control your PC anywhere (within range of a WiFi spot)
no you cant… you can connect to the wifi spot connected to your PC…
I have to say this vnc is very nice i knowest a few changes right now as i am sure i will see it different when i get me an ir keyboard i love the PVnc alot i agree with the one that said a zoom out feature i would call it a screen resizer i have a admin software like vnc that will adjust the screen size to what ever screen size it uses but ZX very nice homebrew. don’t let some noobs tell you any different it works great with my 3.40 oe-a version Prop’s!
