Exclusive Exophase Interview on gpSP
greg | May 29, 2007
DarkPacMan77 was fortunate enough to have a virtual one-on-one interview with Exophase, the author of gpSP (gameplaySP) — the Nintendo Gameboy Advance emulator for the PSP.
Exophase shares an inside look at his development path for gameplaySP; how it came to be, compatibility issues, future possibilities, and much more…
DarkPacMan77: Have you ever SERIOUSLY considered giving up the project?
Exophase: Not really. I tend to see things out to a high level of maturation, although gpSP for PSP has come a decent way.
DarkPacMan77: Many people have complained about features that are “missing” in gpsp. What are your plans for future development? Are there any features that are in store for the future?
Exophase: Nothing that people complain about really, and the only thing that I know that people seriously whine for these days is multiplayer. It’s not terribly likely to happen though. At any rate, features have always been THIRD priority before speed and compatibility. There are still things I can do in both areas, so that’s where I will continue to focus.
DarkPacMan77: Is it entirely accurate to rule out the possibility of multiplayer?
Exophase: I wouldn’t say it’s impossible.

It’s definitely a captivating read for hardcore gpSP fans.

Hey man…I totally love the emulator you have made, my only problem with it is the save on some carts don’t work properly…but I think your work is amazing! Keep it up!
heh, I was talking to him on msn not to long ago XD
i love this emulator :D use it all the time…
Is there a posibility for an update to make FFVI work?
It hangs after the first battle with gPSP :(
the creator said in the interview he knows whats wrong with FFVI… he just never said if he would fix it or not.
YOU GO EXOPHASE. You tell them complainers off… Im not complaining, i love your emu!
Its the fast GBA emu to date, and i remember the other ones out there, and the other ones we had to resort to, and i appreciate much more.
Thanx you so much, and ignore these whiners.
Hi there guys. DPM77 here. Anyways, I hope you guys like the interview. Exophase was very polite and the interview went well. I am very happy with how far the emulator has progressed and it seems he is going to keep on going with it until it reaches an even further level of maturation.
Two thumbs up for Exophase. His work is exceptional.
hahahah die you all!!!!!
go to hell
Sony rules!!!!
Buy a Gba
Why even come to a site like this if your just going to post crap like that?
he does it to get a rise out of people who are willing to reply as you did…thus he won…
you’re right hahhaa
actually I was legitamitly asking the question, he is entitled to his opinion.
hey man i love ur emulator it is probably the best software available for the psp right now. But it has compatibility issues. Could you make sure to fix Golden Sun Lost Age in your next update? I got reall y far and then the emulator crashed……….:( thnx dude for all ur hard work
This emulator is a great piece of work. Props to you Exophase and thanks for all your efforts.
Hey guys i use the emulator for gba roms but can this support the GBA ROMS cause i tried and it did not recodgnize and if u know any gbc emulator plz post the link
thx alot and nice work i LOVE THIS EMULATOR :):):)
search for “homers rin” and it works great.
wow DPM77 u made it all the way here
What can I say? – I’m famous.
It’s fairly easy to get any game you want working. Exophase tells you how to do it and it’s not hard at all. Just look through the files and you’ll find it. I think it’s in gpsp ver. 8.0. Readme or config file. You can get any of you lists working. It takes about 5 mins to add it to the config list and BAM! you’re in business.
Thank you exophase for your great gba emulator. I really like it especially running games smoothly even though I’m just setting it to 233 MHZ!
I wish you can make different emulators too like for the SNES so that it will become stable too…
gpSP is an absolutly amazing, stable, fast emulator, i hope he continues to work on it.
frameskip works great, every game is playable (f-zero climax, yoshis island) and some games run fluid even on 200mhz (ff iv)
Out of all the emulators on PSP this is the 1 I play the most. It owns!
Thank you SO MUCH:D:D
I love your emulator. Kep up the good work;)
DS emulator
Then why don’t you get your lazy ass to work instead of leaching?
hey i tried yu-gi-oh ultimate masters world championship tournament 2006 and yu-gi-oh gx duel acadamy and it doesnt work. can anyone help me get it to work that would really help cause im sort of a yu-gi-oh card game fan.
get the yu-gi-oh psp game
wow good job guys i think its good enough who wants a psp ds emulater? i would die if this comes out like the analog stick would be the touch screen the stylus would be like a mouse or something the ds screens would be split in half since the psp screen is horizontal omg i would love it if u guys make it
Yeah multiplayer would sure pwn for gpSP… but gpSP is already pretty awesome.
i already have yu-gi-oh gx tag force i download it for free off http://www.mybittorrent.com i just want the gba ones to work cause they just crash when i load them.
yeah it would pwn for wireless multiplayer on gbsp. i hope they make gbsp v10 with it. im currently downloading Bleach Heat the soul 4 iso for psp =)
not to be werid but every bleach cso i download i have to convert it to iso for it to work im sure alot of people had this problem since my friends had this problem to is all new games gonna be this way?
i got all bleach games in iso, i downloaded them all im still downloading bleach 4 in iso. i do own bleach 3. and i have a complete bleach theme for my psp including cintro with 3rd opening.
hey i dont understand this whole changing game config settings. where do i find game name, code etc. gpsp quotes “You can also find the three identifying codes on the second line from
the top in gpSP’s main menu” im having a bit of trouble finding this line as its not in the main menu. the games im trying to get to work are yoshis island, breath of fire + breath of fire 2. hit me back
hey i got the breath of fires working and yoshi ended up being a faulty bios file but still any help on how to change game configurations via game config.txt would be appreciated
You guys make a list of games that you want working and I’ll config them myself. Make a stick thread in the forum.
Great interview Dark :D
Who else do you plan on interviewing? Can’t wait to read your next one.
how do i get this to work with the bios and all
Please make gba emulator for psp 2.71!!!; or for 3.11….. PLEASE!!!
