Sloynik v1.0

greg | May 11, 2007

Just in time for the PSP Hacks Homebrew Competition, Cy-4AH releases Sloynik — the first PSP homebrew app for reading StarDict dictionaries.

Although the file format structure differs slightly between the two platforms — StarDict vs. Sloynik; an included Windows utility (BtdxMaker.exe) is responsible for converting the StarDict format to Sloynik for complete compatibility.

With Sloynik you can:

Change dictionaries by Select button (only in looking words mode), change looking words mode to reading value mode and back by R-shift, List words by up and down in both modes, In reading value mode you can drag text by analog.

Two already converted dictionaries are bundled with the package: Russian to English, and English to Russian.

This is pretty cool. Glad to see more and more submissions to the homebrew competition.

downloaded this and several dictionaries. included russian dictionary works great. There is, however, a problem in btdxmaker that causes a crash everytime after I enter a name for the file.

I’ll try explain:
For example you have files:
somedict.idx,
somedict.ifo at the same folder with btdxmaker.exe.
So you just need at command line type:
btdxmaker.exe somedict
In future I’ll add btdxmaker inside Sloynik, so it will convert dictionaries by itself.

ok, so it’s not “choosing a name” it’s input the file name. that results in the program responding with “hello” and nothing else happens, there are no converted files in the folder…what am I missing?

same problem.

-placed btdxmaker.exe in folder with StarDict files
-ran btdxmaker.exe
-at command line typed in dict name (ex. jmdict-en-ja) and hit enter
- “hello” pops up below command line
-btdxmaker.exe closes
-no converted files(.btdx or other) appear in folder

any help?

perhaps there is a size limit for a dict file? several of my dict files can be converted but still two cannot, I notice that they are much larger that the others.
