Count ‘em — 2 in a row! Submitted for the PSP Hacks 2007 Homebrew Competition is GuitarBox from developer Rocamatics.
Also the first homebrew app of its kind… GuitarBox will process sound signals from electric instruments in real time — acoustic and/or electric guitars, microphones, etc… Currently the following effects are supported: noise suppressor, phaser, distortion (overdrive type), delay, and a 3-band equalizer.
You will need to build the audio connector yourself. Can you guess where to find that info? Bingo! The included readme.txt.
What’s planned for the future?
- A REAL Guitar Tuner
- Recording Capabilities (like audio mechanica!)
- Flanger, Chorus, Tube Screamer, Pitch Shifter and Auto Wah!
- Less latency

don’t know why… there is 3 (yes 3) mic ins in the psp… but no mics at all just because sony dosent want (like keyboard…) all cuz of mylo ?
1. audio out IS MIC TOO… 4 contacts P2
2. serial has a mic too (i guess is hardconnect to the P2 one)
3. usb mics

lmao…i have a POD XT Pro, and i cant imagine anything out there replacing that, especially an app. this looks like a cool program and all, but you are clearly insane or retarded.
You fucking dickhead, a POD weighs way more than a PSP, and if I could get descent distortion out of this I could also run it through Gearbox (POD on computer) to get “the rest”. I travel alot with too much equipment.

dude, i really wanted that guy to be wrong about this. i love supporting indie music. but that was just really bad. i think it’s kind of like if Milli Vanilli chose to do instrumentals for low budget video game releases. you guys werent playing anything. you were pretending to play to a sequencer, and the stuff you came up with was so rigid, repetetive and fake sounding. its like you wanted to make it sound and look like a live band but you played guitar chords on a keyboard like C+C Music Factory or something. 1- you could use a singer….you could REALLY use a singer… and 2. it doesn’t help at all that you look like that nerdy kung-fu hero from Kentucky Fried Movie…lol

OMG man, you see… This is EXACTLY the kind of homebrew we need. This is REAL PSP HACKING right here! Playing games is cool, but when you can make a PSP do something that is was not designed for, that’s just beautiful. Keep up the awesome work. I wanna see this develop into a full blown homebrew app even if you don’t win. It’s just that great.
Also… you might wanna think about making a couple of those adapters and selling em around to make some money… Just a thought…

It will be cool if it had a AD-HOC wifi connection to other psps for wireless Guitar/Mic setups. One connected to the Guitar/Mic and the other one connected to a main amp/hifi system. But Iam looking forward to the recording system hes thinking to include in the next releases. Yeah cool release and I am looking forward to all the next releases

This ap is great, recording of any kind would be GREAT. I wish PSP is capable of recording audio in CD quality.

can somebody build a homebrew prog to play tabs on the psp,i mean like guitar pro on pc.This would be an awesome homebrew application i think.

I cant get it work.. Can somebody help me? I made that connector, tested it, but when i connect it to a psp nothing happens, what i need to do to start that flickering screen with waves,i cant get that screen without a connector too. :)? By the way im on 3.30 OA, Maybe this program doesint tupport 3.30oe.. or it does?
Well, I’ve tested it in the 3.30 OE. To test, just plug the wires, play a MP3 with the XMB and check if you can listen any sound. If so, verify with a MIC that the input connector is working well. Normally, with a mic, you will listen to the MIC sound inmediatelly after the app is running.
Well i can hear my mp3 and other sounds, but then i plug the guitar my headphones dont play anything, still that fizzy noise… So i think it is a problem with my connector, try to build another..:) And it would be awesome if anyone put a video like hole this thing works with distortion and other.. I have one more question, is it posible to plug microphone or guitar to psp and the sound would go through psp?? (without building connector)
Hi, please dont forget to use the START button to BYPASSS/ENABLE the sound in the device. Then, chose any effect, I suggest the PHASER (press the CROSS Button while in the phaser to enable this effect). U can press TRIANGLE to know all the keys to control the multieffects.
