Today a new PSP homebrew game is born… Screen Defender! Coming in fresh for the PSP Hacks Homebrew Contest from developer “teachme.”
teachme’s Screen Defender is an addicting 2D shooter with an actual story line! Defeat thousands of enemies, bosses, and save the earth — Bruce Willis style!
Features:
- Insane difficulty by default (this CANNOT be changed.)
- Background music ((C) fanatical productions) — 3 tracks

- 8 different type of enemies (+1 BOSS)

- Bonus weapons (”Ultimate”)
- 5 (&boss) => levels to complete.
- Mini-games (ie “ultimate” weapon installation — actually there’s only one “mini” game!)
- AI
- Bonus pop-ups
- Play list manager
- In-game (mini)tutorial
- 4 Scrolling backgrounds
- Hi-score system

True. All this game is is shooting rocks, dying, then starting all the way to the beginning again.

I think its good cuz im a programmmer(beginner) and its hard to that but ITS POSSIBLE!!! But idont know how to save a file? using the file Input Output could you tellme TEACHME?
boring game all you do is just hold down x and thats it. but good job with writting the codes and those are some good skills you got. just make better codes.
Yeah, im not bashing, but this game is boring. i put the psp under my dogs chin while he was sleeping and he got the new high score (def not competition quality)….. keep it up tho.

comparing this to commercial games that have dedicated teams for programming / graphics / level design / music / etc is pretty daft. ingrates.
Yet, this is a homebrew psp game. He is a novice, and they have budgets and vast arsenals of programs that write simple codes for them w/ GUIs, hes doing it from scratch, solo. So stfu, you retard.

Yeah, pretty ridiculous comments, how about some constructive criticism, ie what you want him to change add etc? Instead of just saying this sux. Bloody hell, produce something of your own, than i’m sure you won’t be so critical.
Not a bad start imo. Try adding some scenery to the stage to help spice it up a lil. Also, if possible, make the enemies do something different instead of going from left to right in circles. Make them move around more helping increase the difficulty level.
Still, so far, it’s on it’s way to something good.
