Lifey’s Modded PSP

greg | April 22, 2007

F00 f00 has shared what he calls, “one of his best pieces so far.” And I sir, agree.

Lifey asked me to install music pulsing LED’s along with a few other mods. What I didn’t fully realize at the time was, this would be the first fully internal music mod so far. Pirate’s original poc worked only via the headphone jack. So there was a fair bit of brainstorming between cyber an myself to get this going. But it was well worth it.

Here is what the complete modification consists of:

  1. Clear case (installed by lifey)
  2. 4 LED’s music pulsing
  3. Wifi/mem/power to blue
  4. Usb Charging
  5. Dual nub (with lower profile)
  6. Hold switch for lighting on/off

It’s an old term… Have you been living under a rock?
Also, whats the going rate on one of those duel nubs? and how functional is it?

it looked like the other analog stick didn’t work unless he stopped using the other one. i gotta check it again. but sony didn’t put one of those on for a reason..did you see how difficult it would be to move and fire at the same time? but regardless the mod looks good! excellent job, nice craftsmanship.

the reasone he moved one stick at a time is because he was showing that each worked independitly.. Otherwise there would be many post stating it was fake. I can asure you the movement it very fluid like. As I create the circuit board for the dual nub. Also We are in the process of creating a new nub which is alot smaller fitting under the face plate.

Yeah, I’d love that setup! I looked a bit at the tutorials at the acidmods site and, although they are well explained, I’m not confident enough to take a dremel and a soldering iron to my baby. Do the acidmod boys do custom requests?

I’d love the second analog stick. where do I sign up?

as for the LED’s…well…there’s a certain cool factor there…but it’s very impractical. if you’re playing in the dark, I can imagine looking for the duck tape. LED’s are just too damn bright.

But that second analog stick would be an awesome addition. I might always wonder why they (Sony) didn’t add it in the first place. The space is there.

On the led thing, they had to move the switch to hold, so i’m presuming it still acts as a hold for the buttons, maybe not, but if so that would mean you couldn’t have it on during gaming anyway… Would have to recheck the vid tho.

That music sounds like the same headache inducing trash that thumps thru my wall each night. The young white guy there thinks he’s a ‘gansta’ (is that the term?) and that he’s not really white.

Flashy LED’s look like a dimestore mobile phone, jeez, you guys will one day be mature enough to know ‘gansta’ is embarrassing, howling about (well it ain’t singing) ‘poppin’ caps’ in folk is embarrassing, and bling-bling flashy lights were meant for baby toys -they are young enough to have an excuse for pete’s sake.

Gansta, Hoodies, Bling Bling, Popp some Caps, where’s me ‘cool’ flashy lights for my phone, under my car, and now my PSP. What a lost culture.
