PSP GPS-290 + Map This! — In Action

greg | April 19, 2007

Neubit, notorious Acidmods gang member, known best for his modding skills, is doing something a little different this time ’round… Below is a video demonstrating the PSP-290 GPS peripheral working in conjunction with Deniska’s popular Map This! software!

Certainly shows how the PSP has evolved into quite the portable hand held. Very cool!

Nice wheels, too.

You actually make the map yourself using a software that download the maps from Google maps.

Check the forum for more info:

does ‘map this!’ have sound telling you to turn left, right etc…?

Not now but I guess it could eventually be a feature…

You can create a route from point A to point B but it will only write the directions, not tell you.

Hi there. I have FW 330 OE-A. It doesn´t seem to work. It is just a blue screen and says “loading usb module……… Error”. Is there a way to get it to work? I live in Ecuador, South America

no doubt sony are looking for these kind of reactions from ppl, basicly this is just another sony gimmick to try and get ppl to move away from the homebrew scene (and the DS ofcourse). Sony will be putting these on trial for now to see if it will become popular with ppl, if it does well then I reckon sony will bring out killer software for it and possibly get game developers to integrate the gps into there games somehow, which I think if marketed properly, it could be a major selling point for the psp.

This couldnt have come at a better time for the psp, it was lagging behind the ds somewhat in terms of sales, this will deffinately breath some new life into the psp

http://deniska.dcemu.co.uk/ – everything u need to know regarding the whole psp gps, works with mapthis! Seems to have been around for a while. Ive managed to get the uk mapped and on my psp just waiting for my gps unit to arive, orded it off ebay from hong kong, cant wait to get it in the car. Hope this helps, although it does seem rather complicated at first but if i can do it you can.

I’m from Holland, i ordered one GPS unit from Ebay (Play-Asia doesn’t ship to Europe), working fine, although it’s annoying that there are SO MANY configs possible. This firmware, with this prx files with this motherboard omfg.
