Update: The official changes:
- Support for PLAYSTATION®Network titles has been expanded.
- Saved data from PlayStation® format software can now be used on both PSP® and PS3™ systems.
- [Certificate Utility] was deleted.
Update: Via Settings -> Network Update, users will now find firmware 3.40 available for download. Also, you may obtain the update EBOOT by clicking the download link (scroll down).
The official PlayStation website has yet to announce the changes; stay tuned for that upcoming information. Most importantly, please remember — if you decide to upgrade to 3.40, you will render your PSP incapable of running any homebrew whatsoever. You’ve been warned.
PSP-Hacks forum member, Calo, has brought this to my attention. Pass it through Google Translator for a clearer synopsis — here. As of me writing this, the supplied firmware EBOOT on the Korean site is in fact still 3.30; they’ve yet to update it.
So, looks like we can expect firmware 3.40 very soon, for North America, and other regions. April 19th, perhaps? FIGHT!

Theyre only releasing this because DA made 3.30 OE, I think that they just store the next update until the previous one is cracked, and then they release it.
hmmm, I think you may be right, remember we were supposed to get a word processor and alarm clock (If anyone recalls the leaked pictures of a supposed version 3 firmware ages ago) then the offical sony psp keyboard that was on display at e3 a while back….see pic:

so maybe the word processor…etc is yet to come, maybe sony took it out of 3.00 since 2.71 SE came out to see how to strengthen the firmware against DA then once they get to a point when he cannot manage to crack it (impossible), they will relelase a firmware with all the tools in it and the keyboard, possibly loading some modules from memory stick due to flash space restrictions, pretty much like what DA’s does now with the plugins, who knows, guess we’ll have to wait and see….

No time soon. Why? Well psp’s arent shipped with 3.30 yet. This means the only way you can be at firware 3.30 is updating your dumb ass through downloaded update. Now you are asking the PSP gods to spend time programming a 3.30 downgrader because of your stupidty. I give you a better option. Put up $1000 prize for a 3.30 downgrader compitition and maybe then they will consider counter acting your IQ level.
