Due to the positive & overwhelming response received from the initial “Sleep’n'Wake PSP” (dubbed SnW) entry for the PSP Hacks Homebrew Competition, MK2k has just released v1.1…
Conveniently tune out the girl sleeping next to you while relaxing, listening to your carefully selected playlist, also possibly avoiding any unnecessary cuddling; then wake up to a sudden blast of music in hopes that you’re alone and have no recollection of the night before.
Sleep’n'Wake PSP v1.1 changes:
- 50MHz underclock in SleepMode while no mp3 is played
- Big Digits Time Display in Sleep- and Wake Mode (see screenshot)
- Left and Right Shoulder buttons now exit Wake Mode too
- An overflow with adding items to the playlist fixed
- Playlist enlargement to 99 max. entries
- Filebrowser now remembers last visited Directory
- PSP-Hacks Splash Screen (sorry ’bout that missing in 1.0)
SnW complete feature list:
- Full cbr/vbr/abr 8kbps-320kbps 44.1kHz MP3 support
- MP3 can be of arbitrary length
- Manage different playlists for Sleep and Wake modes
- add / remove mp3s
- save / load playlists
- In Sleep mode you can set a special, more silent volume
- Wake mode is entered at a preset time with volume maxed (you can always adjust the maximum volume with the VOL + and - keys)
- Write yourself a message which will be displayed in Wake mode
- USB Mass Storage can be enabled/disabled within the app
- Energy Save Mode (underclocks the PSP to 50MHz while no mp3 is running)
- Big Digits Time Display

first one was awsome… looks like this ones gona be better!
cool, I already love the alarm clock that comes with the PDA app, so I’ll have to try this.
I was reading the thing though, and it’s like, why would I want to tune out some chick sleeping next to me? I’d be like “hey baby”
Maybe she snores? :(
doh
great 99 limit much better than 10!
Whooo! 10th comment! also this is really good! its what ive always wanted!
damnit why did it appear here? wtf happend?
i am a BrokenWorm
lo… lame
Also the underclock feature is the best!, some times people wanna fall asleep naturally and only be woken up. so this means that it is only a 50mhz while you sleep? then up it’s self to wake you up?
Correct!
Even when you have MP3s for the SleepMode, you will have the PSP underclock itself when all MP3s have been played.
man i love this app its so useful for me exspecially the note part i always put things i need to remember in the notes soo handy for a lil school boy like me haha.
Can anybody give an idication as to how much the battery gets drained when the PSP is in Alarm Mode and waiting to wake you up?
Should be a bit less now with the underclock feature. If anyone could do a long time test with full batteries and no power cable in, I’d be very interested in the results :)
hmm 24 hour clock bummer. Any possibility of am/pm,
24h time display is not that hard to handle with. But I’ll see if I implement a 12h am/pm clock in the next version.
it is if you have never used it b4 :)
AM/PM display is now implemented in version 1.2, check it out in the forums or on the main page (when greg is done putting it there) ^^
WOOOHOOOO! added to news installer :)
this looks like a good start. a 12 hr clock would be nice. lackluster display .
done. ;)
um, I use an alarm clock, what a pointless program.
this is released to make us forget about 3.30oe, where is 3.30oe?
I want my 3.30oe
Ever thought that this developer has no relation to what Dark_Alex or thoes other people do to create a custome firmware?
Also, in a lot of hotels, holiday houses, cabins, camping.. some of these places do not provide an alarm clock. It’s not like the program takes up much space even tho it is really good and liked by a lot of people.
people like you make me hope its not released
My alarm clock is broke so shut up.
This has nothing to do with 3.30oe..
jzu wanted to ask if it works in cus 3.10 oe a thx guys juz a noob thx
I develop with a 3.10 OE psp, so it should work :)
this prog dont seems to start up on my 3.03 oe-c..
Put the 1.50 version into the GAME150 directory, hope that works. I only have a 3.10 OE, any version does work for me.
Is there SNOOZE mode?
Yep, on the TODO list :)
with 1.2 snooze is now available :)
This is a great program and app for the psp and it proves that the psp homebrewing scene is still alive.
Wish i could code and program something like this myself :) Thank you and keep up the good work
You should check out the tutorials here. They are geared towards complete beginner and it really is easier than you would think to write an application.
Seriously, get into making programs… It’s one thing to think about making a program, but it’s another thing to actually make one. Trust me, it is very rewarding to actually create a program for the PSP!
Hey MK2K I love your program dont listen to that asshole up top. Keep up the good work. Psyfa you are a fucking idiot and should not even own a psp.
wat version does this work in i have version 3.30 and it says cant play game error something! help?!
Firmware 3.30 isn’t able to run unsigned code. Almost all homebrew is unsigned code, you will have to wait for a downgrader.
lmao, why do you have 3.30 when you oviously know about this site?
An amazing app! one of the ‘must haves’ for the homebrew scene in my opinion! Thanks!
Nice! Now I finally have an alarm :)
and just awhile ago I was thinking how great it would be if the Psp could be one then I came here and saw this app and I was surprised to see this very good job :D
Thanks for the nice feedback, next version is right about to come out, stay tuned :)
give us the new OE FIRMWARE !!!
looks 2 me like its a LAME WAR 2 get on the frontpage of psp-hacks site …. this program sucks badly ! why the fuck make it ?
Over 4000 Downloads tell another story ;)
that might be that is been downloaded 4000 times
that do NOT tell anything about its a usefull app
i download ALL i see here …. just to have it ! that dosent mean that the app dosent sucks anyway !ยง
surely you should use your brain 2 usefull apps instead … as you do have the knowhow !
However, you can email me if you got ideas. Trolling here is only good for a laugh ;)
true.
Is psp-hacks dead???
there hasnt been a new post for nearly 2 days!!!!
haha, not dead - just no good news, nothing worthwhile as far as I’m concerned.
Thats not rue .. theres quite a bit of info bout 3.30OE circulatin on QJ
I’ll wait for an actual release; I’m tired of “coming soon” news — “it will have new features,” “it won’t have new features,” “Dark_AleX said this now,” “Dark_AleX said that,” etc… I’ll wait until the true man himself releases it.
Yeah this rumor shit is getting on my nerves too ;)
true
Please keep this website alive. We love PSP-HACKS, don’t give up on us.
i love it
yeah this site rocks, i even have it as my homepage so i can check for updates. i got 3.03 oe-c on my ceremic white psp i just cant wait till 3.30 oe comes out so i can play DJ Max Portable 2! i got the first one and it rocks!
Yeah PSP-hacks is where i go to get the inside scoop!!! Your my home page too so dont go
Hey MK2k, thanks a lot for adding .MP3, mP3, Mp3 extensions as playable formats! I have another suggestion… From what I’ve read, this program plays every song on the “Sleep List” and then stops playing music, and waits until the set time to start playing the “Wake List”. Well I know that after about ~15 songs playing, I’m fast asleep. I want to have my sleep list full and have random mode on so every night the playlist will be different, but I don’t want my PSP having to play all 99 songs before it gets a break. How about having a setting, so we can choose how many songs to play before stopping? It could be options like 5, 10, 15, all the way to All (99). That being said, how about having a Repeat option, so users with a small playlist will have their songs repeated until their song limit is reached… For example, say somebody only has 5 songs on his/her PSP, but gets to sleep after like 15 songs. He can set the play mode to repeat and set the song limit to 15, so his songs will be played until 15 songs have played.
That would bloat the App too much. Tbh I’m already getting a bit unhappy about the menus now and hope not to have to insert more Entries to them… :/
Well, it would save users a lot more power, since they don’t have music playing all night, but whatever…
Man, if you care so much about cluttered menus, remove the USB feature (why the hell does every homebrew maker feel it is necessary to have a USB option?!) and the “Exit Sleep’n'Wake” option (I can just about guarantee you that 99% of users, if not all, just press home to exit… I know I do)… I think this app really needs a song limit option.
there’s some “funny” problem w/ a compressed mp3 u MK pls fix this major problem !!!
It is not a problem at all, the player plays 44.1kHz mp3s as stated in the textfile, your mp3s are most likely to have a lower samplerate like 22kHz. Then they will be played as if they were 44.1kHz and thus twice as fast as they should have been played. Please use 44kHz or use a software to change the sample rate from 22kHz to 44.1kHz.
App is great, but I have one small complaint. Adding 99 songs to the sleep playlist takes a while when you do it one by one. Do you think you could add an option to throw all music on the memstick or a selected group onto the sleep/wakelist automatically? Keep up the wonderful work!
You can save the Playlists afterwards, so it isn’t really a big problem. But i know what you mean and in further projects which rely more on files and things I’ll make a better filebrowser.
Great app! Keep it up! :)
nice support on this app thoe….
Thanks for the App, man !!!
Does this actually influence the lifetime of my PSP ? I mean does it lower its life expectation to use it every night ? Even though it’s just @50mHz?
Thanks
I would love to have it o my psp but how do you do it?
