Plans for Daedalus R11
greg | April 4, 2007
StrmnNrmn has shared what he intends to implement with Daedalus R11. Essentially Daedalus R11 will focus on compatibility issues — the Expansion Pak support will hopefully result in a few more roms running (Majora’s Mask is already verified).
For R11 I’m hoping to fix the Expansion Pak support for once and for all. Memory is currently very tight, so I need to look at shaving off a few hundered KB here and there. Almost all the memory Daedalus uses is allocated up front – there are very few dynamic allocations at runtime, with the biggest culprit being the texture cache. So for R11 I want to introduce a pooled allocator for the texture cache, which will mean that when it runs out of memory, you just get white textures appearing rather than a hard crash.
R11 should be ready within a couple of weeks; before May, anyway. Also mentioned is Daedalus R12’s future which will concentrate, again, on speed. What lies ahead looks quite promising, seeing as though R10 achieved a 10-15% speed-up without implementing many optimizations that had originally been planned.
In the meantime, download Daedalus R10 and have some fun!

I am glade to get this running, funny thing is my firend called me up yesterday and asked whats wrong with his 64 emulator he put on, Im like what do you have? he responds Daedalus 4 (i think 4 at least) Im like 10 was just droped a few days ago
can’t wait for 11
fucking deadlus.. why is he releasing, like 11 beta versions of his crap?? wtf?, common 1 beta is enough… stop flooding everything and consentrate at a good working (full speed) emulator, (aka deadlus 0.1 bera and deadlus 1) *lol :]
If you knew anything about free and open source software you would realize that the software is put out in “unstable” chunks for a while until a v1.
1. To keep the community going
2. To realise the source code, resulting in users submitting improvements.
3. Testing, bug reports etc.
So shut the fuck up and get of your mighty horse…. Learn something from this becuase its guys like you who are slowing down the PSP scene.
Enough of the rant.
StrmnNrmn! Your work constantly amazes me. Keep up the good work, ignore the wankers and many thanks for releasing the source.
k, u win :D
i agree with you here m8 all the noobs out there go on about the small fings unlike all us ex noobs and hackers and people who no about things like this NOOBS YOU DONT CONTRIBUTE TO THE SCENE THEN DONT BITCH IF YOU DONT LIKE IT

Come on SWATsqad, he obviously wants a little satisfaction in between releases, and whats wrong with that, he is putting the work in, not you, so stop your whining, and if you dont like the way he is releasing it then dont download till it meats your satisfaction… damn loser…
My point exactly :)
yeah, well fuck you
Hello People,
I’m using Project 64 on my pc for playin N64 games/roms. Why using stupid Deadlus it’s to slow. Can somebody hack Project 64 so we can play N64 at good speed. I am no hacker so i can’t do that.. Pls somebody?! I want to mario 64 with good speed!
w8 a while and maybe stop wining rome wasnt built in a day but another hand a n64 emu on pc onli runs fast becs ov the sytem specs u got lets say u got a reali shit pc it wont run fast it wud run about same speed as it dus on psp so hold ya horses n it will work ok
disable sound and it works nice
first of all we use stupid daedalus because its an emu for a psp not a pc. second of all if you dont want daedalus what make you think that strmn wants you, get the fuck out of the daedalus theme then. but dont come back when daedalus is at full speed. you just stick with your project 64 on your pc.
Fingers crossed for F-ZERO X!!!
@dave .. you are right.. its good idea! Some one can do this.. hacking.. pls….
Hello Guys,
Dave and Gary are right!
I’m using Project 64 too. And I use it with more frame per sec for the games then deadalus on psp. can somebody have phone number or email adres to ask the makers from project 64 to hack it to psp, maby with LUA? I thought it was the program language from psp?! Good luck…
Yes yes i think its address is StrmnNrmn@hotmail.com of daedalus maker. you must ask him to call or email project 64 to do hacking
I don’t think the makers of Deadalus will call with the enemy. They are concurents!
Deadalus update are not so great as they say they are. Each time they saying 15 a 20 % faster…. Wow that’s great —> NOT…
I don’t want to mario with 14 FPS it’s not good _ can U program it so we can play in 25 fps…?
stop bloody bitching hackers programmers do there work out of the goodness of there heart if u want a good emu then make 1 god all u noobs need to learn how hard this stuff is to do
W/O sound I got 30FPS on Mario 64
Helle People,
I have make a calulation:
Each time it’s max 20& faster – this = Deadalus R10
so if we skip all update and make direct Deadalus R15 a R20 we can play games/roms at good speed…. Yeahhhha!
any1 know where i can get mario kart 64 to play on r10? All the rom sites ive been on say its protected.
star fox works good with no sound.
the only game is working good on r10 is super mario 64 with no sound…….anybody knows another game is working good ??????????
great work on r10 , game play is ALOT better, thank you for your hard work
:-(:-(:-(:-(
R10 works pretty well. I was quite impressed at how much of an increase in performance there was. The big one that I noticed was Super Mario 64. Although once you get into the 1st world, it lags a bit when enemies are on the screen. Other than that it’s progressing quite nicely.
woot woot………look who posted!! thanks for that. Keep up the amazing work.
btw, to whoever wants to know, StarFox runs, a bit slow but its working, im near the 2nd boss(w/ sound!)
Thankyou man i aprreciate your hard work and am looking forward to R11
plzz try it before u release it
note:plz speed up the speed XD
shut up n speed it up ya sen god wy dont u try speeding it up
i hope they also make a custom made icon for the full speed version if not i already have a animatid icon ready for it.
I can’t believe how many morons and cunts are posting stupid comments here. All I can say is Strmnrms work is immense and each release impresses me, many thanks keep up the good work.
As for morons demanding hacked versions of PC emulators, nice idea and completely unrealistic. Yeah it’s been done on Xbox but then again what hardware is used in an Xbox? Fuckwits
a modchip or softmod is used for emulators.
LMAO @ last comment
Wow, some of you guys are so stupid. I usually don’t post much but these comments have made me laugh so much. Great work StrmnNrmn, keep it up please. I would like to see Gary, Dave, and Vincent’s full speed 64 emulator when they release it. LOL.
hey MustangSCA,
I hope somebody can convert Project 64 to the psp with LUA or c++ or pascal or maby SQL or html? Then I think it will be mush faster. It’s just a thought? Notthing is wrong for questions right?
Its too slow IMO. Too choppy with a higher frame rate. Sound is crap. One day it might be worth downloading, but right now, I wouldnt recommend it..
u guys shuld stop flaming R10. it was pretty good, and u cant blame strm cuz the psp just isnt strong enough to handle n64 emulation.
I’m not going to stress how difficult developing emulators is. I’ve been through hell just developing basic texture loadings with VB. Why can’t you people just shut the fuk up for once?
I was amazed with R10, a project long denied of its rightful place next to ggSP. It’s still a long ways but that doesn’t mean you flame it in its current state.
Good job StrmnNrmn, may you see your work through to the end.
keep it up….soon it will be the best!! kant wait for supersmash and zelda!!!
My Biggest Hope is For SSB to be playable!!! Can’t wait to see the results!
BTW StrmnNrmn You Are BRILLIANT!!!
THNX everyone who’s supporting me!
Y’all know I do this for fun, so if everyone stop whining about the speed. Or I will stop upgrading Deadalus! Losers…
@StrmnNrmn I have do a text in this screen.. i have ask you to contact Project to hack the project 64 to do on psp.. like this we can play Mario 64 at good speed.. thankyou.
shut up im calm but reali project 64 is for a pc and two powerfull for a psp to handle n reson i aint calm is becos ur a noob and ur so fustrating:@
@xnoob. you are not very nice.. you be more calm.. i only do ask..
OKAY guys!
If one more stupid loser will tell me what to do I stop!
No, No, No StrmnNrmn ,
We only want to play mario @ good speed. Now it’s to slow.. Project 64 is much better programmed! So maby you can check source how they did it?!
@StrmnNrmn Be calm you… i want to help you with this hacking if you want..and like this i learn little bit by you……this is solution. thankyou
Yeah!!
I have made a website once so maby I can help to. I can make HTML and flash.. Is it good?
I can make menu in flash like project 64… I also want to learn hacking!!! Good?
I am using progam 2 psp converter 1.9 beta and when I convert Project 64 it to psp it still not work with the roms? Can you tell me how to convert it?
@StrmnNrmn i have send you email StrmnNrmn@hotmail.com. but you don’t send email back to me.
@dave i have try also to do convert.. i try Tmpgenc to convert files. I also use this for music and foto and movies. But the program don’t do with project64.exe..perhaps Strmnmn can fix this for us.. like this is work ok on psp
–> Gary, maby you using the installation file?
Maby you must using the files in the .exe after installation. Let me know if work! :)
Not a huge speed boost, 15% is accurate.I was hopeing for around 30% speed increase. 30% would probably allow mario 64 to run smoothly with the sound on. That would keep a handfull of us busy till the next release. All and all its what i expected in the new release. Arius is right , deadalus is to much for the psp to handle.
However I have to give credit were credits due. This is a very hard task, setting out to get this emulator to run smoothly. Deadalus is a demanding emulator and the fact that you’ve managed to get it this far is amazing. Its going to take a very long time to get this thing running at 100%.
I’ve been farting around with the emulators settings and i find it runs best without sound.
I’m starting to think dave, vincent, and gary are all the same person. I mean they have NO idea what the hell they are doing, let alone help strm with his work. They just don’t understand how hard it is. What they cant get through there brain is that it’s hard enough getting N64 running on a PSP at aLL! Hell they should be amazed it’s running “anything!”. But then again most are just dumbass 12-14 yr olds who have nothing better to do.It’s like putting a large square in a small circle.
You couldent have said it any better. I totaly agree. Deadalus is a very Demanding emulator. The fact that he is able to get it runing this far is amazing. Strm you truly are doing us all a great service by creating this emulator and pushing it right to it’s limit. Im getting tired of these 12 year old kids acting like this is a product that they are paying for. Last time i checked Strm wasent charging for this. If you kidys think you can do better go out and grab a recompiler and take a stab at it.If not then go wine to your parents not us, because nobody here cares.
u kno wut would be badass… if like by daedalus r17 we had ssb running at full speed and a sweet infrastructure mode… also i wanna play some jfg soo bad
