Sleep’n'Wake PSP 1.0

greg | April 3, 2007

Wake me up before you go-go, chances are you’re sleeping solo (with your PSP, that is). Freshly compiled for the PSP Hacks Homebrew Contest is MK2k’s Sleep’n'Wake PSP v1.0. I’ll leave it to the author’s description:

This is a little app for the PSP which gives you the possibility to doze off with your favourite chill-out music playing silently and wake up with some loud and hard music (or even with the beep.wake.mp3 in the package) with volume maxed at a predefined time.

Sleep'n'Wake v1.0 Screenshot

Is that not nifty? Have a gander over the feature list:

  • Full cbr/vbr/abr 8kbps-320kbps 44.1kHz MP3 support
  • MP3 can be of arbitrary length
  • Manage different playlists for Sleep and Wake modes
    • add / remove mp3s
    • save / load playlists
  • In Sleep mode you can set a special, more silent volume
  • Wake mode is entered at a preset time with volume maxed (you can always adjust the maximum volume with the VOL + and - keys)
  • Write yourself a message which will be displayed in Wake mode
  • USB Mass Storage can be enabled/disabled within the app

Sleep’n'Wake, then Wake’n'Bake!

so ur psp has to stay on the whole time or it comes on on its own?

after testing this out a but. it turns out that the psp has to stay on the whole time for this alarm to work. i find this pretty insuficient because when you turn off your psp. the system is secretly taking in battery just to support it clock. maybe in v2.0 this app would give you the ability to turn the psp completly off.

on my first sentence on top i sayed “but” as the last word. i ment to say “bit”.

Nope, there is no way to wake the psp up from a shutdown or standby. Don’t expect miracles.

It’s Awesome, but if you add any more songs then 10 it crashes, adding the beeping for the wakeup call is also a neat addition. putt9ing the program in sleep mode with the screen off works, any chance of reducing the power cdonsumption any more?

I will look into this issue with the “more than 10 songs” thanks for the bug report! I will definitely check out a mode with lower MHz for energy save.

For the People concerned about this wearing the Battery Power Out……..there is no need, 9 out of 10 Places where people sleep will have a Plug socket near by, So Plug your PSP in the Wall, with your Power Adapter, as everyone should have got one with there Machine……….
The Only 4 places i can think of that wouldn’t have a Plug socket, would be in a Tent or on Board a Bus / Coach /Train…..;)

just an idea for a future release, WMA support. It’s a great format cos it’s got gr8 compression. Nice job though. Great lil app…

I’d never touch WMA, sorry. MP3 is ok, maybe Ogg Vorbis sometime.
