Whether or not you’ve dropped LSD with Acid Rob, this new mod from CyberPyrot, along side the AcidMods R&D Team, will be sure to trip you out. Check out the YouTube-age…
Now that’s some Funky Cold Medina! That is in fact the LED’s illuminating to the beat. All made possible with this chip…

And a little update from CyberPyrot…
This is a mod that has been in the development stage for a long time. Thread after thread I have decided to do the mod to appease our members. There have been many skeptics as to the possibility of this mod, well here it is all internal. The schematics will be posted soon but don’t expect detailed pictures until F00 F00 or Neubit does there version. I will however answer any questions about how this was done.

Comments (46)Mediumgauge has released a new version of “PSP Filer.”
PSP Filer is a multi-purpose homebrew app for managing both files and directories on your memory stick, UMD drive, and flash0/flash1. Also included is a set of integrated applications — rip UMDs directly to your memory stick, view pictures, text & binary files, monitor memory usage, and there’s even more; download and see for yourself! You will find it’s well deserving of the few kilobytes on your memory stick.

Comments (11)Another slick way to further customize your PSP has been discovered and released by Z33. Z33’s “Imposer” app will allow a custom bitmap to be used as a replacement for the home screen. You know, the screen that appears when you press the “Home” button.
Readme.txt provides clear instructions on how to inject/extract bitmaps for the impose. Of course this operation must be performed on a decrypted “impose.prx” & “impose.rsc.” Bitmaps are restricted to 332×166 24bit and 522×546 8bit, for impose.prx and impose.rsc respectively.
Impose GUI is courtesy of nicinico.
The required tools to dump & decrypt the PSP firmware, as well the firmware updates, can be found here.

Comments (115)Update: Quick update…
Grab it below.
Another eye-opening PSP homebrew game… Hexaxis XXI comprises fantastic graphics, cool music/sound, and the addictive game-play you’d expect from any great puzzle game. Currently lacking is the high score table, as well the “score” and “multiplier” text in the upper left isn’t as pretty as the author (Timwillhack) desires; check back for updates after the NEO homebrew competition. In the meantime, have fun!

Controls:
Directional Pad: move dice left, right, and down (no up, it’s like tetris)
Square, Circle, Cross, Triangle: rotate the grid
L and R Triggers: zoom in and out
Select: Exit Game
There are many videos on YouTube showing off its coolness. Check ‘em out.

Also find more of Timwillhack’s developments over at Darksoft.net. Great work!
Comments (18)Fanjita and harleyg have released what they call “piKey”. The introduction says it all…
πKey is a keyboard driver for your PSP. Its aim is to allow you to use just about any keyboard (or similar input device) as a natural method of input on your PSP.
Imagine being able to use your keyboard to control any PSP game or homebrew, and even the PSP’s XMB menu and on-screen keyboard, automatically and without needing any changes to the other software. This is what πKey aims to give you.
This is an early release, demonstrating just some of the possibilities. The open, extensible framework allows πKey to be extended with new plugins, to allow support for different types of input hardware, and different input environments on the PSP.
It’s reported to work best under Dark_AleX’s custom firmware, and includes an installer for the easiest installation possible. Supported inputs are various infra-red keyboards and serial I/O via the PSP’s headphone socket. Usability is straight forward; see the provided user guide (docs/user_guide.html) to get started.
As for the future, here is what’s in store:

Thanks Fanjita & harleyg!

Comments (22)Danzel said it best — “AFKIM is back and better than ever!” I can second that… “Away from Keyboard Instant Messager” (AFKIM) initially appeared on the PSP homebrew scene almost exactly 1 year ago; it was later enhanced April of 2006, and today — prepare yourself, with a fresh update for the NEO homebrew competition, AFKIM3!
AFKIM is an instant messaging (IM) client supporting the AIM, ICQ, MSN, GoogleTalk, and Yahoo! protocols.
AFKIM3 changelog:
There are current 2 versions:
- Experimental OE version, tested in game310 folder with OE 3.10′, seems to not work in 3.03
- 1.5 Version, tested in game150 folder on OE 3.10′The OE Version works with WPA connections, you must use automatic network configuration however (DHCP)

AFKIM3 for 1.50 (tested on GAME150 with 3.10 OE-A’)

Comments (28)Do you remember the PSP modder going by the name of Neubit? I sure do; back in February Neubit shared a clever modification that replaces your original PSP battery with 3 AAA’s. That said and done, and proven to work quite well, Neubit has returned with a new mod currently being prototyped — the PSP Steering Wheel!
Here’s it in action…
This is a mod-in-progress, i didnt wire up a connection jack yet, so there are wires hanging everywhere, but hey, it works, it’s cool, it’s new, its original, Enjoy! And stay tuned for updates

Comments (81)StrmnNrmn sharing his Daedalus R10 optimization strategies and progress in the latest blog. It details various methods used to further achieve stable, and playable, N64 emulation on the PSP.
Ending on this delightful and suspenseful note –
Overall these three changes give a combined 10-15% speedup on the various games I’ve tested, although there are roms that lie outside this range (some show an even greater speedup while others are more or less unaffected by the changes).
R10 is looking quite promising!
