This was emailed to me no more than 10 minutes ago — Team C+D’s 3.30 PSAR Dumper, responsible for dumping & decrypting Sony’s latest 3.30 firmware!
You know the usual routine by now: Sony releases a new firmware strengthening security, shortly thereafter it’s decrypted by a talented team of hackers, and perhaps — just maybe — a custom firmware revision will follow. Until then, keep checkin’ back — same Dashhacks time, same Dashhacks channel!

Can’t you guys see that this is part of Sony’s strategy? Instead of spending quality time making best features out of PSP, they’re just simply making a patched security updates with every new version. Users would just trade in their existing console for the new version then downgrade it again – in which i find this pretty pointless. Why not they just released a final version of what everyone wants instead us of having to rely on the unauthorised Firmware hackers.

resident eveil 2 still crashes at the entrance of the police station, so i don’t know what your smoking. and the NTSC version of musashi still crashes at the beginning. however you can make it work by changing the NTSC version into a PAL version, but it leave the screen all fucked up. and final fantasy 8 does workand all, but its really unstable, theres so many boss fights you cant beat because it randomly crashes. so i want all these games to work flawlessly without changing versions or anything.
well… there’s that t-mobile thingy, i heard about but im not sure if thats worth it. lastest gaming and improved PSX emulation. Im not sure about customizing though

1. Don’t say “like” on the internet, that LIKE makes you LIKE sound like a LIKE retard. (notice I didn’t CAPS one of those “likes” cause then it would say “that makes you sound a retard” which in itself is retarded…) anyways…
2. Custom Firmware is basically, a souped up version of Firmware 1.50, because it can run most of the latest games, and you can run your own .iso and .cso files from it with simplicity, rather than using devhook, your games show up straight in the XMB menu.

Well guys just be very very careful if you must use a CFW, in the UK the police are doing random stop and searches for drugs, weapons and psp’s with CFW on them. And anyone caught with a CFW face court or they can pay an “on-the-spot” fixed penalty of 120 pounds and their psp confiscated. This happened to my nephew and his dad had to pay his fine. First I Put The Whole Folder “PSARDUMPER330″ into the game folder
I Used The PBP Unpacker To Unpack FW 3.30 and put “DATA.PSAR” into F:/ making the location “F:/data.psar”
Then I Unplugged My USB and ReStarted My PSP then went to game and loaded PSAR DUMPER V3 and It said “game could not be started”

If your firmware is 3.11 then you can’t do nothing. That firmware is homebrew-less and can’t run any PBP Unpacker or any other homebrew. Sorry, you’ve to WAIT until they make a 3.11 DOWNGRADER…

Tell me why cant you upgrade from 3.11 to 3.30oe whats the problem???
because 3.11 wont let you run any homebrew at all which includes the updaters you want to use. you have to downgrade your firmware to 1.5 before you can upgrade to a new custom firmware. This means en exploit has to be found for the specific firmware. an exploit hasn’t been found for yours yet so you cant downgrade and thus cannot upgrade.
and oh yeh mainly because 3.30oe doesnt exist

people need to understand changing the security on the PSP updates isnt always an option
you can get a new lock, but the PSP would still be trying to open it with the old key
they are stuck with the current method of security untill a new generation of PSP comes out, and they will have a better or completely different set of firmwares that would likely be much harder to hack
the one thing i really care about is seeing more video compatability- something like plugins with codecs to allow the PSP to play more common video formats without the need to convert them

once i download the psar dump where how should i put it in my psp, cuz it does not have the 2 folder which one with the % sign.
CFW dont need Kxploit (the % sign) just drop it in and wing it., if it dont work, put it in the GAME folder, make sure the eboot is in a folder called psardumper, and that psardumper folder is in the GAME150 folder or GAME folder or GAME303 or GAME310

this is a question that i was wondering about last night. ok guys before yall start calling me out read this first ok. ok so sony is a chinese ran company. the chinese make the psp consoles. every time you guys buy a psp they make 100$ or so. now china doesnt support other countrys bullshit, meaning that they dont by american cars or xbox or anything american made or even made by other countrys. now sony makes the psp but who is making the games for the psp? is china making games for the psp? if they are do they account for a very small percentage of it? and is america and europe making all those umd games. ok so lets say i downgrade my psp and i take it to sschool and then my friend sees me playing resident evil 1 and he says cool how do you get that game to play on the psp, and then i start talking to him about downgrading,homebrew,and custom firmwares. them my friend says cool can you downgrade my psp and i say sure. then someone comes along and says so if i buy a psp it like if i were to buy all the game consoles because of the emulators, and i say yes. then that third person buys a psp. thats 100$ sony made right there. then we all start downloading games for free we all make accounts with pspblender.com and get the torrents and start downloading. then the companys that are making the games for the psp are losing money because were not buying there umds. now is sony at all making umds or are they making a very small amount of umds. because im sure that europe and america are probably making tons of umds and sony is just makeing money off those psp that we buy to just downgrade. now all the games taht dax offers use such as ps1. those games are old and they are too old to actually hurt companys when we pirate them. the same goes for all the other games for all these emulatores that we got so far. Now sony is ran by chinese, chinese are asians, asians are the smartest people in the world. but yet they keep getting there security codes for the psp cracked withing a matter of seconds, minutes, days. now on firmware 1.00 and 1.50 the ability to run unsigned codes was never patched up this is a big mistake that was never takin into consideration by sony. but yet the asians are the smartest people in the world how could they have never thought about piracy. now lets talk about another issue. say this to yourself “WHO THE FUCK IS DAX” hmm lets see he happens to be some guy who creats downgraders and custom firmwares. You know it seems that this guy can do these things by simply snaping his fingers. and this strmn guy working on the n64 emu. and all these other programers working on all this emus. who knows if all these programers are actualy being payed by sony to do all this for at the most dax,strmn, there probably with sony hell if anything there asians who live in china and work at the sony companie. well thats all i got to say what do you guys think plz reply with your oppinon.
I don’t care who is smart or who is stupid. All I care about is my PSP that is very well made by Sony and the OE firmware from DAX. So both Sony and Dax are my heroes. On the other hand I feel sorry for the companies that make the games, they deserve some credit also. I have about 100 ISO/CSO games, and I have bought only 11 UMD’s. This is because this 11% is worth buying, the rest is maybe nice for a game or two, but simply not worth the 40 – 50 EUR they sell it for. I realize when no more games are being sold, there will be no more new games. But I am only willing to pay the high price if I think it is worth it…
interesting idea but remember Sony make a profit on all UMDs so its in their best interest for people not to use ISOs and CFW. An example of this is UMD Movies. If sony just wanted to sell the PSP and not the UMDs then we would have DIVX/XVID codecs. These firmwares get decrypted quickly now because there is always going to be experience learnt and applied from decrypting all the previous firmware. I would imagine if sony changed the security too far then the PSP would not have the built in hardware to decrypt it itself!! I think DAX must be getting more and more angry when he hears people saying “where is my 3.30OE” or ” DAX just clicks his fingers” i bet he works very hard on these OEs…….heck it wouldent surprise me if hes being headhunted by sony for employment but i doubt he works for them…….yet!!! what you think?

It would be very interesting to know what the ratio is of CFW Vs SCE-FW. I think a bit of piracy does help a system to grow. Maybe sony just got complacent. They may of left these 2 firmwares slightly open to encourage homebrew not realising people would be decrypting later firmwares and creating custom firmware that runs install on 1.5 and run ISOs. Remember when alot of people had 2 PSPs, 1 for homebrew and one for new games needing new FW? As Waka says bellow they are obligated to try to prevent isos (3rd party developers invest loads to produce a UMD) but homebrew is a good selling point especially emulators. my point is i think maybe they wanted to allow a bit of homebrew with 1.5 but never knew what they were letting themselves in for!! I dont think it goes as far as them employing DAX to do OE tho.
hhmmm you are right at first ppl realy were buying two psp systems. but once the cfw was out it just got out of hand and ppl were buying only one psp. and downloading ISOs. this is a good point in beleiveing that dax doesnt work with sony. i still remember that i bought my psp only to play roms of it. turns out that didnt work i had to trade in my psp with my friends then downgrade and upgrade. so i guess it was piracy that lead me to buy my psp so yea your right piracy does help the system grow a bit.
It is a kind of fringe split. You see it happening more often. Take Linksys; they make a good line of routers. One of the routers, for home and small business use, the WRT-54G was used by various groups of software engineers to write their own, improved and extended firmware. This could be done because it used the Linux OS. Many of those WRT-54G’s were sold, until Linksys was a bit offended that people used their product, but not the original firmware. After decreasing the product’s memory-size to make the product useless for the alternative firmware (has been hacked ofcourse), they decided to stop using Linux as the product’s OS. This was effective, the alternative firmware could not be used again. Linksys has won the battle, but definately not the war. Suddenly sales of the router went down to zero. The WRT-54G became just another router… Once Linksys realized it had killed its own product, they came out with a new router version; the WRT-54GL. And guess what? The L at the end comes from Linux. Nowadays, allthough there are a lot of different routers on the market, Linksys makes good money and profit with the Linux version of the router again. So this proves that manufacturers sometimes don’t know what they are actually selling, and even more: the customer is always right!

Sony are have an obligation to (try) to prevent iso from being pitrated. Thats it There not hell bent on stopping home brew. They now know they cant stop it. The hackers are far too advanced and they cant just re design the psp. So just be happy with any new features and stop moaning. There arnt any games that even need the latest firmware so we might not even get another custom firmware for a while.
