Firmware 3.30 Decrypted!

Posted by greg

This was emailed to me no more than 10 minutes ago — Team C+D’s 3.30 PSAR Dumper, responsible for dumping & decrypting Sony’s latest 3.30 firmware!

You know the usual routine by now: Sony releases a new firmware strengthening security, shortly thereafter it’s decrypted by a talented team of hackers, and perhaps — just maybe — a custom firmware revision will follow. Until then, keep checkin’ back — same Dashhacks time, same Dashhacks channel!

Thanks Mario!

Daedalus R10 Count Down

Posted by greg

I bet you’re constantly refreshing StrmnNrmn’s blog in hopes Daedalus R10 will suddenly appear; I know because I’ve been doing the same thing. Well, my last refresh shows R10 is near — the count down begins!

StrmnNrmn’s latest indicates Daedalus R10 will be released in the coming days, dig this…

Although R10 will be a smaller update than R9, there are some great improvements (most of which I’ve already talked about):

  • An approximate 10-15% speedup
  • Frameskip, framerate limiting and stick deadzone tuning
  • Various small bugfixes

I’m hoping to have everything ready by Sunday afternoon at the latest.

Ooooooh yeah!

Ms Master 2.02f Compact *Updated*

Posted by greg

Update: As requested from myself, and a few others, XsavioR aims to please with Ms Master 2.02f — you can now specify a different installation path! Hooray!

2.02f changes:

  • added ability to change install dir
  • made it so msbind icon doesn’t reconfigure every time

Update: “Ms Master 2.02e” is now available with support to backup / restore your “seplugins” folder only; in case you hose your plugins by whatever means, why wait for the whole MS to backup, right? ;)

2.02e changes:

  • Backup seplugins folder (right click menu)
  • Restore seplugins option (gui)

It’s always best practice to format the memory stick (MS) prior to flashing a new [custom] firmware to your PSP. It’s even wiser to create regular backups to ensure no data loss or corruption. So why not keep yourself disciplined with XsavioR’s newly introduced “MS Master” application. It’s very easy, and actually quite useful.

MS Master 2.02d Screenshot

Ms Master 2.02d Compact provides a sophisticated backup / restore method which supports the following:

  • backup ms
  • restore ms
  • bind ms to one of 3 backups
  • template dumping for redundant backups
  • backup Gamesaves
  • restore Gamesaves
  • utils folder for easy backup / restore
  • mycomputer right click options
  • dump Ms to Template dir
  • restore MS from Template dir

You must accept the default installation directory, otherwise paths won’t register properly; but that’s minor.

To install: Run Msmaster2.0.exe then Desktop.exe. Connect your PSP, run “Bind MS” from the Desktop, follow the instructions, and disconnect / reconnect your PSP thereafter. The rest should be straight forward; run “Ms Master” from the desktop or right click the PSP removable drive from “My Computer.”

PSPRadio 1.18.1365 Released

Posted by greg

Extra, extra! Read all about it! This just in; the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby is……… Oh, who cares, Raf has released a new version of PSPRadio. That’s the real news! Enjoy streaming shoutcast over any WiFi connection, as well OGG/MP3 playback is supported from the memory stick. You know the usual PSPRadio drill, let the hefty changelog commence!

New features:

  • (raf) TextUI: After a configurable amount (default 10 seconds) during playback, the visualizer goes into fullscreen.
  • (raf) Core: Use PSPRadio.cfg PLUGINS:VISUALIZER_FULLSCREEN_WAIT to set the wait before going into visualizer fullscreen mode. (Set to 0 to disable).
  • (raf) Core: This fullscreen config wait parameter is now configurable from the PLUGINS Options menu.
  • (raf) Core: Added kiss-fft routines, and now provide frequency data to visualizer plugins if requested.
  • (raf) Plugins: Added a spectrum analyzer plugin (based on finespectrum.c for XMMS).
  • (raf) Core: FFT and VIS_Spectrum use vfpu for some calculations, to get a speedup. (Thanks to MrMr[iCE] for his helpful vfpu library pspmath).
  • (raf) Core: Removed VBLANK message across the core and sent to UI. UIs need to do it themselves.
  • (raf) TextUI3d: Updated to use a renderthread instead of vblank message — Good speed-up.
  • (raf) Core/Plugins: UI Plugins have versioning now, and won’t work across versions of PSPRadio that don’t support the same interface.
  • (raf) Core: Clean-up.
  • (raf) CScreen: Using GU for clearing screen and background copies. This makes rendering (TextUI) MUCH faster; especially during fullscreen visualization!.

Bug fixes:

  • (raf) TextUI: When switching skins all the text will disappear. Corrected.
  • (raf) Choosing exit from option menu is much faster, and less prone to crashing.

Known bugs:

  • (raf) Core: Static IP connections don’t work correctly. Seems the gateway is not used as it should. (Also, make sure CPU speed is 222 when establishing a WiFi connection).
  • (raf) Core: Module unloading doesn’t free up all memory correctly. Even though plugins can now be loaded/unloaded, the PSP can eventually crash as it runs out of memory (after loading/unloading enough times; even though I switched back and forth between the text and 3d UIs over 20 times, and everything worked fine).

Thanks, Raf! Props.

PSPSSH v1.0.2 Released

Posted by greg

If it wasn’t for ZX-81, I don’t know what I would do… Today PSPSSH v1.0.2 has been released!

PSPSSH v1.0.2 Screenshot

PSP SSH v1.0.2 changes:

  • As Matt Johnston advice me, a new random number generator has been integrated (it’s a unix like /dev/random generator). This version is now more secure, since the entropy of the random number generator is higher.
  • Add option for binary id_rsa key file support, for priv/pub RSA key pair authentication. (See README for details)
  • Add option to disable remote server version check
  • Add option to change PSP CPU Clock
  • New Danzeff keyboard layout, control keys are now available, and unused keys have been removed.
  • Control keys and arrow keys support
  • Improve communication speed!
  • Add scroll up and scroll down feature
  • A cursor is now displayed in the console window
  • Bug fix and code cleaning

Just what I was hoping for — private/public RSA key pair authentication and improved communication speed. Thanks ZX!
