PSPCAP32 v1.1.5: Amstrad CPC Emulator

greg | February 25, 2007

I’m beginning to wonder how ZX-81 has any time to actually play & enjoy these emulators with his regular flow of enhancements. I’m having a hard time keeping up myself. Earlier today we saw PSPMSX v1.0.7 and a couple hours later, who would’ve known, PSPCAP32 v1.1.5 — with the new graphics engine!

PSPCAP32 Screenshot

PSPCAP32 v1.1.5 changes:

  • Save state files are now saved using gzip compression (with SNZ as file extention). It’s much faster to save or load states now. You can use gzip or 7-zip to convert old SNA to SNZ. SNA file format is still supported for loading, so you convert your previous saved files inside the emulator.
  • A new graphical engine with new smoother render modes! It uses now the PSP GU for rendering, it does not run faster, but it’s a lot smoother! Old “soft” render modes are still available, because there are a bit faster.
  • Save state dates are displayed in the emulator window (it’s now easier to identify and to load the right save state slot)
  • Sound is now played at 44Khz (instead of 48Khz)
  • Bug fix (load default keyboard mapping on startup)
  • Bug fix in Rom file requester
  • Bug fix in keyboard handler

Sound familiar? ;)

Much thanks, ZX-81!

ZX-81 fucking kicks ass. I don’t care how many fucking noobs try to deface his work:

This guy has shown more reliablility, effort and perservartity to the PSP homebrew community, and should be ranked among the people that bring us the downgraders.

Thanks again for this awesome emulator, ZX. I’ll put it to good use :)

For all you cats not around back in the day.

This was a home computer that fitted uncomfortably between the Speccy and the C64. I think it used the same CPU as the Speccy but had better sound and graphics chips. It also had a built in cassette, and a ‘proper’ keyboard.

There were quite a few decent games on it…though I was a Speccy owner myself.

Love

Kenny
