Those still running FW 1.50 refusing to upgrade, for whatever reason, will be pleased to know BOOSTER has returned with a new version of DevHook supporting full 3.11 firmware emulation. And that’s all I gotta say… You know what to do, there ain’t nothing to it but to do it. Enjoy!

Has full Wireless support at 333Mhz?
Copy the files inside MS_ROOT to ms0:/.
Use the PBP Unpacker on an untouched FW3.11 PBP and extract the DATA.PSAR file.
Copy the DATA.PSAR file to ms0:/.
Copy the FW3.11 PSAR Dumper (released by Team C+D) into ms0:/PSP/GAME/.
Run the PSAR Dumper on your PSP and press “X” or the “Cross” button when prompted to.
It should automatically return to the XMB once it is done.
Run DevHook v0.52.
Select “Flash Install.”
Select “Setup firmware from PSAR dumper.”
Read the disclaimer, and press “O” or the “Circle” button if you agree with it.
Once it is done, go back to the main DevHook v0.52 screen.
Select “Firmware.”
Select “Firmware 3.11.”
Select “Start.”
Reboot the PSP.
Load DevHook v0.52 again and start FW3.11.
It should say that the setup information is corrupt (BSoD), just press “O” or “Circle.”
Reboot the PSP.
Load DevHook v0.52 again and start FW3.11.
You should now be able to apply your personal settings to your PSP!

I try the new dh and discovered that when I try to exit from a game to the XMB menu by pressing ‘HOME’, it turned off. Is there any way to return to XMB normally?

Maybe its a case of ‘better the devil you know’ sort of thing? Or a case of ‘I want to keep it as close to original as possible. (I remember how stressfull it was the first time to get DevHook to run with all that upgrading/downgrading flashing going on :S )
I’ve not really checked / searched for a pictured step -by-step guide for getting OE up and running.
1) Can you return/reflash back to 1.50 completely WITHOUT using the OE ‘recovery/safemode boot’ to 1.50?
2) If you can, then HOW?
3) Do all brew work with OE, such as Pimpstreamer/1.6shell/PSP vnc? (sorry if i got the names wrong :| )
yes to all 3 king rolo, i have all 3 working….personally id say for 100% reliable firmware which plays ll known recent games itd have to be 3.03 OE- C
this devhook runs well on it too, same as all the rest.
i have 3.10 OE-A on one psp & 3.03 OE-C on another, the latter is the best….as i said in my opinion but thats only because i can customise it.
Not everybody wants to run the risk of bricking their PSP. A lot of people are happy to just run Devhook and play their games. Stop being so elitist and close-minded.

There is almost little to no chance of bricking your PSP with the recovery system.

why would u when u can have 3.03 topmenu & still have 3.10 or 3.11 support via devhook on the extrmely odd occasion youd want 3.10 features, what are they? a grafic interface for media player….thatd be cool if u didnt lose customisation.
theres a lot of benefits to 3.03 OEX, i use my 3.03 OE more than 3.10 OE…..cos it looks better

Wow, thanks a lot. I’m one of those who dont want to risk flashing stuff. I just don’t do it because i don’t have a job ATM, so i dont want to take any risk with my psp. When i can possibly afford another one, then i’m on it. But for now, thanks a lot. :D

have you upgraded/downgraded before? if u do everything right with the custom firmware the risks are as small as upgrading with the sony firmwares. pretty easy now due to installers being released on the forums so you cant mess up. unless the installer is messed up :P

its even easier than doing it to the installed firmwire.
i think the custom firmwares are the best e.g. 3.03 OE-C. you run anything you want out of the XMB. plus you can just use ISO’s from the Game menu and it will work. not to be rude or anything, but booster should just pack it in. Dark Alex has kicked his ass. am i right?

PSX Emu has been out since 3.00 i do believe, and devhook has not had it, and probably still doesn’t have it…. just go OE, devhook wastes enough space to fit another game or even a few depending on size…
NO and if it does you would have to buy them from PS3. With OE firmware you can play any of em for free!

OE-X has an awful lot of features, but DevHook simulates the real thing (maximum combatibility).
Personally I have 3.10OE-A AND DevHook 0.52 because some games (very few) get stuck in OE, but play wonderfully on DH, ie Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony.
Of course I think sticking with FW 1.50 while there is OE-X is like believing in ghosts or Count Dracula in 2007AD!
I found that setting the cpu to default speed made Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony run just fine. When playing using 333mhz the game froze up on me all the time.

its nice to have a choice, i use OE but i like the idea of having a choice. Let say, and i hope this will never happen, that DAX ends up in prison for who knows what reason, or something terible happens to him so he cant develope any more psp stuff for us, what then… what will u use then… its always good to have an alternative no mater what… and devhook is a damn good software…. for me , as OE user devhook has the same value as OE FW….. thanx for this great app respect
when i go in to psar dump and when i press x or o or square. it comes up error can’t find data.psar in top folder of memory stick. any one know how to fix this.
and where are the instructions to install this. the read me is not even in a language.

you have to put the original devhook 0.52.0000’s dh folder onto your memory sticks root, and two folders into the game, than put the new 0.52.0100’s dh folder to the root, and overwrite it if asks.
guyz, dark alex and booster work as a team incase u guyz ddnt know. booster gave his code to dark alex to integrate the system into the custom firmwares, check dark alex’s readme, it has credits to booster for his work towards the custom firmware. without booster, theres no dark alex ;).

OK, Now after reading about 50 friggin hours of these psp hacks This is what I believe.. First, if you have a psp and updated it to 3.11, NOT DArkAlEx 3.11oe, your screwed. The new sony 3.11 makes the psp see the files as corrupt even though they are not.
The autoloader availble online doesnt work for updated psp’s. ONCE AGAIN it will NOT work if you have updated your psp to the 3.11 provided by sony. you will NEVER be able to use homebrew. There is NO DOWNGRADER available, PERIOD for the psp with 3.11 firmware GET IT?
spend another 50 hours reading, then you info will be correct,maybe! there is no 3.11 OE
I love custom firmware but devhook is still cool it still has better compatibily than custom however the newer versions of devhook just seem unstable. But hey if you dont want to flash and not be able to play ps1 games then thats cool

I am 3.10 OE-A’ firmware user…. and yes you read that right A’ I’ve applied the patch and I still have several games that it will not load. ie metal slug 6 NFS carbon Burnout legends etc. I’ve been waiting for this because currently I’m using a modded devhook .46, and when I leave the XMB and try to reboot it gives me nothing but a black screen unless I take the battery out for a few mins. So yes THANK YOU BOOSTER 3.10 OE-A’ is not the be all end all. Atleast not yet, I’m sure DA has a release on the horizon
NFS Carbon and Burnout legends work flawless on 3.03 OE-B so dont know why its not working for you on 3.10 OE :/

i manage to run the devhook and also run a iso however there is some mistake i made which does not allow me to show the photo as wallpaper

wow, so many post for a new devhook release. all i got to say is, booster is real cool, but let’s face it, most people do not use emulation. and fo’ all u scared people of upping to CFW (Custom FirmWare) no worries, no reported cases of bricks yet.

The chance of bricking while upping to an OE firmware are the same as the chances of bricking whilst downgrading to 1.50 in the first place :)

Because I updated the FW to 3.11, then run the PSAR dumper, and now the devhook or the PSAR Dumper won’t work….it said “The game could not be started”.

I can’t immagine anybody being able to use computer, download the file from internet and copy it in a right spot on his Memstick and than update his PSP by accident. You must be joking, right? If you aren’t, don’t worry, here is what you should do. Find out, what is the store policy, where ever you bought it. Than try to exchange it for a new one. Or find somebody stupid enough to buy yours updated one. I did sold one PSP 3.11 FW just last week to a kid from neighborhood for $155.00 on yard sale. Good luck.

This doesn’t work for emulated 1.5 so I have another idea. I need to find out how to change Devhook 0.51 BETA for 2.71 so it has the files from Devhook 0.52 and have it so it still works on 2.71. Is there anyway to do this?

yes you can, and I think devhook v0.52 is the only way to play ratched and clank via infrastructure.

Yes just look in the forums.
There are easy install programs for custom firmwares which should be easily found in the forums. In relation to PSX emulation, no it does not and probably will not run psx games for the foreseeable future as it does not include the official PSP-PSX emulator from Sony. Perhaps the third party one would work, though I haven’t tried it personally ^_^

OK im running 3.03 OE-C with custom XMB icons and I have the all in one DevHook installer. Can I keep 3.03 OE-C and use DevHook to emulate 1.5 and 3.11? Is it just a case of running the installer? and will it replace my custom XMB icons?
Yes you can keep whatever custom firmware, icons etc you have- devhook does not alter your XMB.
It will emulate the other versions without affecting your current set-up.

I still haven’t tried the custom firmwares because no one has told me what the advantages are of it besides the fact that it can play PS1 games (don’t care about that, I play those on my TV) and has a better menu. Whenever I ask the response I get is some kid calling me an asshole mostly lol

its personal preference…a lot of people love the PS1 emulation i think that is the main difference, but in devhook do you have to “flash” or emulate a certain firmware before playing a game that requires it?…in other words does it always start up in fw 1.50 or will it restart within the emulation?

were mso folder and were ms_root folder also dont get what do 2 on 1st 2 lines
pbp unpacker is a program that extracts files from the pbp’s that the psp uses…you can download that from this site…then copy the stated file to the root of your memory stick aka ms0 or msroot then you will use psar dumper which extract files form the psar file that you got out of the pbp…you can download psar dumper here too….

I see alot of people on here arguing about Custom Firmware being better than DevHook. Personally, I think it’s all preference. I’ve been using my FW 1.5 PSP for over a year now and updating DevHook as needed. It’s worked fine for me. Until it gets to the point to where my games aren’t working or DevHook is no longer being made, then I have no use for Custom Firmware. I’m not gonna argue over the fact that DevHook is better or Custom Firmware is better. DevHook has been good to me and that’s why I continue running it. I’ve got DevHook .46 with USB mod and ExtremeLink. It has run every game i’ve thrown at it.
How in the world do you install this, Im reading this TOP guys HOW TO and it isnt very DETAL like. I mean for NOOBS like me I NEED SOME GOOD DETAILS. I’ve been sitting here for like hours now trying to just figure out how to get this damn 3.11 FW to be on my PSP. I used that DEV 0.46 Easy Install. That actually works. But I have no Clue now to get this3 3.11FW on it and working. If anyone knows it would be awsome if you could make a GOOD NOOB friendly Tutorial on how to install all of this. I mean when you say Put PBP In MS_Root Im guessing you mean ROOT of stick meaning soon as you click on it in Mycomputer ????
Ok all of this works. >>> Copy the files inside MS_ROOT to ms0:/.
Use the PBP Unpacker on an untouched FW3.11 PBP and extract the DATA.PSAR file.
Copy the DATA.PSAR file to ms0:/.
Copy the FW3.11 PSAR Dumper (released by Team C+D) into ms0:/PSP/GAME/.
Run the PSAR Dumper on your PSP and press “X” or the “Cross” button when prompted to.
It should automatically return to the XMB once it is done.
But Where do I find this in the PSP once I do all of that ???
Run DevHook v0.52.
Select “Flash Install.”
Select “Setup firmware from PSAR dumper.”
Read the disclaimer, and press “O” or the “Circle” button if you agree with it.
Once it is done, go back to the main DevHook v0.52 screen.
Select “Firmware.”
Select “Firmware 3.11.”
Select “Start.”
Reboot the PSP.
Load DevHook v0.52 again and start FW3.11.
It should say that the setup information is corrupt (BSoD), just press “O” or “Circle.”
Reboot the PSP.
Load DevHook v0.52 again and start FW3.11.
You should now be able to apply your personal settings to your PSP!

ok i skipped the argument. but… i run 2.71 (HEN D) i run devhook from that im happy. no downgrading, no custom firmware, no ISO’s, no customization. just running 1.5 for homebrew and 3.xx for games. not bothered by all what you have on 3.10 OE or SE or whatever.

wtf is devhook, i bricked my first psp and i got lost in the homebrew scene.
For people who are having problems with their wallpapers not saving is because they used devhook with 3.11 on a 3.10OE fw. It won’t work it conflicts with the firmware and screws the flash 1. Only sloution google flash 1 format v2 and use it… Trust me it is safe, it only wipes out the settings of your current fw (which is installed on the flash1). I know it safe because I had the same problemand I got it fixed….Now I only hope for a devhook with 3.11 that works on the custom fw or at lease use another directory on flash1, not 3.1x where custom firmware settings are stored.
Oh and for those knocking the 3.10oea’ fw cos it cant play burnout legends or metal slug anthology are idiots because they cant realise theyre bad dumps of those games, yes i came across them too. First ensure by getting the isos from another location before saying it won’t work because they fully work. The only games I had probs running on custom fw were ones that were a prob on devhook as well. DAX is a god, Booster great job but get with the times and support custom firmwares.

hmmm well, as much as i like homerew, its gets tiring after a while. it would be nice to pretend i have the highest psp firmware without homebrew capibility lol then go back. im gonna do it :)
maybe some people don’t want to flash custom firmware simply so that the can still go back and use their saves from pre-3.0+ games and not have to start over?
Trouble with DevHook 0.52.0100 with FW 3.11.
The save game – manual or automatic – is often frozen the current game with 2 different PSPs but the ‘HOME’ button still working…
We will go back to DevHook 0.52.0100 with FW 3.03.
Is anybody have the same dysfunction ?
Have encountered similar problem on DevHook v5.2.0100 with W 3.11, whereby during the game save, it will just hang/frozen the current game. Can not turn off the PSP using power button. Need to take out battery to reset the PSP.
