RCO Icon Editor — Edit ANY XMB Icon!
greg | February 16, 2007
ZiNgA BuRgA has released what he calls RCO Icon Editor v1.05. Firmware modders will find great interest in this Windows app…
Whether or not you knew this, many of the RCO files found on the PSP’s flash contain icons which can be customized. And knowing that, this tool aims to function as a generic RCO icon editor. Now anyone can easily customize XMB icons — menu icons, battery icon, etc…
The RCO must be decrypted first; this can be achieved by using a tool such as PSAR Dumper.
I cannot stress enough… Read “readme.txt” for important information.
Firstly, this has ONLY BEEN TESTED ON 3.03 OE-C and 3.10 OE. I believe it _should_ work on all 2.71 SE and 3.0x OE. For 3.10 OE, customized topmenu_plugin.rco files won’t work, but it seems that customizing other RCOs (eg opening_plugin.rco) still works.
Also note, ALWAYS keep a backup copy of the RCO, incase either you or the program stuffs something up.

lol no use to me i just bricked trying to install a gameboot. ironic this should come out
Cool….Good Job
Ooh looks good… ill try it with that pack of battery indicators that were just posted…
nice one zinga
Make a icon creator so we can add folders like friends to look more like the ps3.
stop requesting silly things of people.
Good work, this is just the thing I have been looking for!
its not silly its cool amagine ur psp just like ur ps3(if u have one) (I dont). that would be awsome because we can have the friends on our psp and like stuff like that. Im not demanding im just asking because it would make people happy, and I think some1 should make an Armagetron Port for the psp.
Wow, great. Another program for dumb-fucks to brick their PSP’s with
True True…100% Totally agree with ya.
yh, DUMB-f****, but not clever f**** :-> this prog. old , thanks zinga burga anyway :->
if you dont like my program then go screw your mother…….
lol
Nice i could said But % included would be better
i can remember 6 months ago when i flashed my first stuff i made sure i read thuroly about recovery
folder if you are dumb enough not to reserch your risks too bad. there is warning all over everything
that can go wrong.
at this point we shouldnt even be seeing the word
brick :/
i was waiting for it lol for 2 dayz
all u had 2 do was look on zinga burga’s site ;->
Just to make it clear, RCO flashing is totally recoverable via the recovery menu - it doesn’t mess with the 1.50 subset at all, so it won’t cause a brick (unless you’re one of those people who manage to brick using X-Flash or upgrading a firmware)
Looks Cool… Download it now..thanks for this i think this would be very useful
Zinga, you lovable genius you :D.
And nuts to all the naysayers. I’m sick to death of everyone giving sh*t to coders. These guys take the time out of their own lives to come up with this stuff and you crap all over it.
Don’t use your own inadequacies to attack people - everyone knows you’re worth nothing anyways.
Erm…
Sorry about that - needed a rant.. good software Zinga :D
I have tested this on an already customised Topmenu_plugin.rco for FW 3.03 OE-B and it works fine so far… I’ve only tested it with the memorystick icon so far… will do more testing later :)
Thx! Zingaburga
hi i was wondering if any you guys download the Ratchet And Clank Size Matters iso. is it true that for some reason the iso does not work or is just me. i know this doesnt relat to this topic but i didn’t know who to ask.
how can i change the color of the extracted icons ??
anyone knows ?
Here’s a small tut written by Ruttus about changing the coldboot text - just ignore most of it (not relevant to you), but look at the part about how to use Photoshop to view the picture.

it doesn’t mather what rco file i place in the program it always says that i must use a decrypted rco file please need some help. using 3.03 OE-C
Use an RCO from a 2.50 firmware dump. Anything higher won’t work in this program.
This is very old news, thanks again tho zinga burga.
ZiNgA BuRgA if the RCO is decrypted ?
like 3.03 ?
If youre just messing with flash0 cant you always just put back the original files if it doesnt start up? i always read carefully before i do things tho, helped 3 of my friends 2.81>3.03>1.5>3.10 OE-A :D
yea i just put back in my original flash0 and it worked again.
yh, that is why i do not like using apps for flashing most things nemore, i like doin it manually :-> never reli srew up that way
how you replace the icons ????
I trie convinate the colors for the vol bar and the program give a error!!!!!!!
plz explaime????
I JUST mentioned to a coworker that a program like this would be useful and cool. Lo and behold, I check my RSS feed, and here it is!
Great work ZiNgA. You’re a great asset to the community.
will this work with 1.50?
guy, i wudnt if i was u, if u screw up, there’s practically no chance, just use cfw (Custom FW)
this sucks…..
make 1 for the 3.10 oe-a2 other SHIT is for OLDTIMERS
damnit …
No, other “shit” is for those of us who don’t want to go over to the Michael J Fox of firmwares. You know the kind; shakey, useless, and way past its prime?
yes this work in version1.5 very great, using filer v.29+
it says you need a psar dumper. the link for that is for 3.10 i got 3.03 oe-c still ok to use if i dont use that ?, thanks
I have custom firmware 310-oe-a2 and I need the 2.5 dump can any one tell me where to find a 2.5 dump.
